Ordered jacketed chips and got ordinary luke warm chips. Salad was a tiny amount of rocket with a few tiny pieces of tomato and onion. The service By the young adults serving was offhand. We chose to sit outside due to COVID restrictions and it was such a nice evening. We ordered two burger meals which were vegi stacker and cowboy. Any decent chef would have not served them as the salad leaves on the plate were very wilted neither of us ate them. Died the week previous, by the look. The burger buns were possibly the cheapest available anywhere. When our food arrived we ordered more drinks. A large Chardonnay and thatchers haze. A wine and beer arrived, order taken by same person, completely wrong. So my advice is to steer clear if you want a decent meal and the drinks you order. It's a shame as it's in a prime location.

The staff were very welcoming on arrival right through to our departure. Good choice of food on the menu, with something to suit all tastes, any alterations needed are easily accommodated as all allergies are checked on ordering. Nothing seemed too much trouble. We had a few pints here when in Lincoln a couple evenings, but did not have the food, so this…read morereview does not address the food, only beer, service, and the place itself. Overall, I'm truly at about 3.5 for this place but I'll round down to 3 because 4 is definitely too high. I'd try it again to see if in Lincoln again, but overall it just seemed like a decent pub with decent cask ale. It's a Marston's pub so has selections from the Marston's range of beers as the primary offerings, which is not a problem. They had some good ones - Old Thumper, Pedigree, and Hobgoblin, plus 61 Deep which I have not had and one empty pump. They have 5 pumps in total. That is a big plus, but they had nothing particularly special. The beer (Old Thumper) was in good condition but not perfect condition so it could have been better. It seems pretty good but was a bit slapdash in service and how it was run. It was very crowded. The place itself is nice and has a great location between the castle and cathedral. It definitely gets 4 for the place and location, as well as the decent range of good cask ales, 3 stars for the less then perfect condition of the beer and the general impression that the service and cleaning are decent but could be better.
