Piss poor customer service multiple times since my wife had her gallbladder removed sent us bills…read morethat was never sent thru to our insurance and every time we call we were made to seem like the bad people for them not doing there jobs to make matters worse we moved across country due to me being military got a bill in the mail 6 months later and we hurry up to call and make sure it's been thru insurance at least 30 min before closing but they insist on putting us on hold all up till closing time I would not recommend this or any university hospitals in Ohio!

Very disappointing. Employee manning the "registration" desk is very loud and has no difficulty…read moretalking over you when you attempt to check in. She also has no sense of propriety or discernment regarding HIPPA or the fact that shouting out the names, addresses, date of birth, and insurance information is completely inappropriate. Having had a lab order sent in from an out of town medical facility, I attempted to explain to her that "someone had called me to notify me that the order for the series of 4 labs was on file".....only able to get out the first 4 words of that previous sentence before she interrupted shouting in her loud nasal voice..."I DIDN'T CALL YOU! We didn't call you! There are only two of us here and we don't call people!" Needless to say...it took further explanation to get her to comprehend that a call had notified Me that the order for labs had been emailed and could she please check her records to see that the paperwork (an order for a series of 4 urinalysis tests) had arrived. After much defensiveness and excuse making, she finally located the order. She then proceeded to ask in her loud shrill voice for all to hear (as she had the previous 2 patients before me) personal information, which I had to lean over the counter to whisper to avoid the entire waiting room from hearing. It's NOT ok to yell out addresses, insurance providers, socials, and DOBS, or treat elderly & ill patients with disrespect. I did my best to deal with the obviously untrained and total "me-centric" personality behind the desk in order to get the labs completed. Had she not yelled at an elderly lady, who inadvertently walked toward the lab room rather than the registration desk, two clients before me, I probably would've been more forgiving of her obviously low client services ability & non-conformity to hospital protocol. Things escalated from annoying and unprofessional to down right hostile and rude when I requested the cost of the lab and asked to pay in advance. I was then treated to more shrill comments in her overly loud grating voice as follows: "I don't know pricing! I don't collect money here!" Another 5 min was spent asking her to login in to her direct to hospital networked computer or rummage for a price list. She finally located a price list and informed me that each lab (series of 4 total) would be billed at over $30 each. When I had the audacity to request that she note in her file to have billing call me to negotiate a more industry standard price for this test, (yes I checked before I went there and the industry standard of $12 is appropriate) she again loudly and argumentatively commented "Maybe you would like to go to another lab then!" Since my order had already been sent to this facility and the testing is paramount for my teen son's DVT, I decided to dispense with her combative attitude and carry out the test. My teen son was miserable and appalled at her behavior during the visit (especially when she treated the adorable elderly lady with such contempt and disrespect) and was very upset when we left. He asked why I requested she note her file so hospital billing could see that I wanted to pre-pay the lab series & I had to explain to him that it's not always best to let a bully, who is obviously disinclined to serve the public in the capacity of her job, create a billing issue down the road, even if it takes a few more minutes of agony to get them to perform their duties. My son's comment was "it wasn't your job to train her." I agree with his statement. I've notified the hospital billing department of the request to pre-pay the lab series and that they should notify hospital administration to a ticking time bomb in their midst in the form of a future (and current)HIPPA violation possibility due to her need to shout out private information. Once notified (via email as we had been communicating regarding income and financial aid toward the unexpected ER visit that lead to the discovery of the DVT) I was promptly informed that billing would no longer be communicating with me regarding my bill via email and that I would now have to call the billing office. Please note that I've called the billing office numerous times to sit on hold & ultimately end up leaving messages. Please also note that I have received zero billing from my son's ER visit on SEPT 17, and had been proactively contacting via phone and email to work to get all documentation on file to address the ER visit that unfortunately took place during a health coverage gap of 30 days. It is untenable that a hospital outpatient lab would charge double the industry standard price for a urinalysis, employ a person such as the person behind the front desk who's obviously either poorly trained OR just completely uncaring, and it's beyond ridiculous for a billing department to REFUSE to communicate through a previously agreed upon format.
