They…read moreare very professional, amazing customer-service oriented care for the patients and all their teams, staff & different areas are top-notch! I'm a Senior citizen whose had great to good Dentists in the past. I'm from Washington, DC, so when my wife recommended LifeSmiles - blessing. They are the best Dentistry team, by far. I've had everything from basic care, X-rays, Cleaning, Root Canals. Bridges & Dental Implants. All the work was pro-actively identified when I felt initial pain. They were sensitive to my longer than normal tooth roots which made me a tad more sensitive to pain. Their pain medication options, referrals & advice on how to properly care for my teeth has been spot-on. They also take a few dental insurance providers and their admins/financial teams will provide payment options. Even when I had last-minute issues or items they cover after dentistry is fantastic! Never had to wait for care and they addressed everything the next business day.

I don't want to totally trash Lifesmile, but there really aren't a lot of good things to say…read more First, Patty, the receptionist, is a nice person. I think most people would agree with that statment. The dentist I was assigned for my initial evaluation as a new patient was Abbey Smith. Abbey was not a friendly person and she came across as if she could not care less. Abbey noted some things about my teeth that were never relayed to me, which included needing a root canal and having a fractured tooth. I found out about the cracked tooth at a regular cleaning and being evaluated by another dentist. This was a red flag. During my dental cleaning, I inquired about implants and complained about experiencing TMJ issues. The TMJ concerns were glossed over. While setting up the appointment for implants, I had to interact with the office manager. I'm assuming that's who was making the appointment. She was fairly unpleasant, but I'm pretty good about ignoring bad behavior from other people. She told me that a 3D scan would be $500. I thought the price was a bit outrageous. After I left the office, I decided to contact them to get a copy of my dental records. I'm fairly certain what I received was incomplete. After reflecting on the level of care received and the lack of transparency during my initial evaluation, I felt it was my duty to warn others. If you have a complex dental case or have other issues that need to be addressed outside of routine cleaning, I 100% do not recommend you spend your money here. After being evaluated elsewhere, I need to have my teeth straightened and bite issues corrected before implants can be considered. Also, the notes sent as my dental record state that no cavities were found on the X-ray, but an RCT was recommended. There was no explanation for the RCT recommendation or which tooth or teeth. If another dentist had to review what I was sent to figure out what was going on with my teeth they would have a very difficult time figuring it out. There was nothing technical about what was sent. There was hardly anything detailed. I canceled the implant appointment. There is no way on God's green earth I would spend a huge amount of money getting my teeth fixed here. I have zero confidence that I would be treated fairly, receive quality work or my dental issues taken seriously.

THIS REVIEW IS FOR ST. LOUIS EMERGENCY DENTAL AND DR. ITING LEE DDS. WHICH SHARES AN OFFICE…read moreSPACE/ADDRESS WITH THIS DENTAL CENTER. I'm sharing my experience so that others may be forewarned. St. Louis Emergency Dental in Hazelwood has the feel of a 'fly by night' operation. It's run in what seems to be a former dental center. From the empty cubicles that once contained dental booths to the stark walls absent of reassuring posters or comforting aesthetics, the impression is of haste and impermanence. If you're here it's the weekend, you're in pain, and in your desperation may overlook these red flags. You'll have filled out a medical intake questionnaire online prior to the appointment, yet I repeatedly found that there was no possible way this was reviewed by any of the staff. I didn't need to wait long to be seen, was x-rayed, and met Dr. ITING LEE, DDS who presented me with a treatment plan. An administrator came in to arrange financing for the work as they do not deal directly with insurance, and assured me that the treatment would alleviate my pain. I would later find the treatment would only preclude a week of more intense pain. Repeatedly I heard Dr. LEE telling other patients he would pull their teeth, I gained the impression that's their mainstay treatment. I heard one patient crying, and Dr. LEE told her not to in a way I felt to be dismissive. I have severe anxiety about dental work, for which I was allowed to purchase nitrous oxide. As the procedure was about to begin I was fitted with a child-sized mask, and was told it was the only one they had left. I told the assistant it wasn't working and she said she couldn't turn it up. Dr. ITING LEE came in, and hearing the gas wasn't working he cranked it up. The gas still only worked if I held the mask to my face, which was of course no help during the procedure. Dr. ITING LEE was very aggressive in his approach, jabbing the syringe hard into my mouth, a feeling as if nerves were being torn had my hands clutched to the armrests and my feet fluttering in distress as I struggled to keep my upper body still. I could feel my heart pounding harder and my face begin to flush. The aggression continued as my teeth were cracked out with a force of pressure that would leave my jaw aching through the week. I recently had two other teeth removed by my regular dentist, the care and finesse was such a stark contrast to the heavy-handed work of Dr. LEE. I'd hate to have been there when St. Louis Emergency Dentist is busy. On the way out I was handed a prescription for an antibiotic and Tramadol. I communicated to the administrator that Tramadol made me feel weird and hasn't worked to help pain for me in the past (many people find Tramadol ineffective). She spoke with Dr. LEE, and I was told that he said to take the Tramadol anyway. The next afternoon a strange fleshy mass was growing from an extraction site two teeth length in height, I was throbbing in pain and having the worst adverse reaction to Tramadol I've ever experienced. Had the list of medications on my intake form been reviewed this harrowing drug reaction could have been avoided. I was so scared, and my wife held my hand for hours as we contemplated going to the ER if the drug reaction grew worse. The growth didn't look like any of the granulomas I found images of online. I called St. Louis Emergency Dentist and described the mass, the drug reaction, and requested an adequate analgesic. I'm a veteran, have had many injuries and am familiar with what pain medications work well for me, so I advocated for myself and gave the phone number for my pharmacy. They were bewildered by the mass growing in my mouth, and asked if I was allergic to codeine. I was told by the receptionist, who said she spoke to Dr. LEE, that he would call in a prescription and that he would call me back. Neither call was made, and I received no direction not to take any more of the Tramadol or to go to an ER if things got worse. Apparently Dr. LEE had zero interest in addressing the strange growth or in treating my pain. By the third day my mouth was on fire and I went to my regular dentist who demonstrated the care and compassion lacking at St. Louis Emergency Dentist. I might mention my behavior toward Dr. ITING LEE and his staff was of the characteristic kindness and patience I'm well known for among my associates, and that my wife bore witness to much of what I attest to in this review. It's my hope that this review helps another suffering a dental emergency in their decision as whether to bear through the pain until they can get to their regular dentist, or to decide where from to seek help.

They made me feel as though I was a million dollar patient. They went far above their duties to not only help me sort out my insurance issues but also to make sure that I was comfortable and pain free while my surgery was being performed. The Dental Surgeon, Dr. Alexander, is one of the most personable professionals l that I have come in contact with. He treated me as a person and not just another patient. When I had a problem obtaining my prescribed medication after office hours I called his answering service, not expecting a solution until the office reopened on Monday. I was surprised that within an hour of calling the service I received a call back from Dr Alexander himself. He even gave me his private cellphone number in case anymore problems should arrive.
