I've long been a fan of Marisa's work, so I jumped at the chance to take one of her photography…read morebasics classes this morning. Set in the sweetest studio in Meriden, the class taught and clarified everything I've been fumbling around with for four years on one of my photog boyfriend's Nikon SLRs. From lighting techniques to playing with ISO/aperture/shutter speed and photo composition, this class finally drew me away from the go-to camera auto settings and deeper into the previously dreaded manual setting. With the basics course as a prerequisite, Marisa also teaches a series of more advanced classes from portraits to product photography and one-on-one business mentoring. I paid $350 for 3 hours and walked away knowing more about photography technique than in the past four years of guesswork. Thank you, my sassy friend!

The playlists that we spent a significant amount of time creating and shared with our DJ beforehand were largely ignored. We also contacted Powerstation after the wedding to provide detailed feedback and give them an opportunity to address our concerns. It has now been three weeks with no response. Unfortunately, based on both the service we received and the lack of follow-up afterward, we would not recommend Powerstation or Mike to other couples.

We were hoping to get photos done before our son's 1st birthday and she was able to provide us with a great date/time option. We really lucked out. On the day of our shoot we couldn't have asked for a better experience. The drive to the studio was beautiful and worth it - we drove from over 30 minutes away. The studio was immaculate and ready to go for our time together. Her prep email was extremely detail oriented and let us know exactly what to expect. Once there we could easily see the setups and there was a perfect place for us to finish getting ready. Even though we brought most of our outfits she also offered an additional one for us to use and it photographed so lovely. Lastly, the cake smash session was literally the icing on the cake. She has a wonderful referral that made the most beautiful cake for us. Our custom banner was EXACTLY what we were looking for in terms of colors and vibe. She got our son to warm up, have fun, and capture his personality. Melissa's patience, professionalism, strong communication via email/text, and warmth was much appreciated as first time parents for our first shoot. We look forward to working with her again in the future!
