Carson City Florist's owner, Tom Jones refused to refund any of our money. He claimed it was not his fault due to errors made by Walton's Funeral Home. However, his story includes the fact that he misdelivered the floral arrangements to the wrong casket, and failed to confirm the name of the person in the casket, who was not our mother, which was clearly listed on his work order. None of that is due to any fault of ours. We are simply a family in mourning. We can't re-do the burial. We should at the very least receive a refund. Walton's Funeral Home offered to refund us their cost of the burial service, $595. We felt that was fair and accepted their offer. Carson City Florist Tom Jones refuses to even discuss refunding us the balance of $308.84. He stated outright that he will not refund any amount without us taking him to court. Small claims court costs $111 to file, plus the cost of a process server. To date, we have not received an apology nor a refund in any amount for products and services that we paid for and never received from Carson City Florist.

Thankfully, DIY has stepped in to fill that gap perfectly. While their prices are on the higher side, that's simply the reality of living in Lake Tahoe--and honestly, it's well worth it. The staff is consistently friendly and incredibly helpful, always ready to assist. They maintain a surprisingly strong selection of products, and when you need something in a pinch, they almost always have it in stock. The showroom is beautifully organized and easy to navigate, and returns are handled smoothly with attentive support every time. In the end, the convenience far outweighs the cost. Driving hours to a competitor would easily eat up the price difference in gas alone. DIY has become my go-to spot, and I highly recommend them to anyone in the Tahoe area looking for quality service and a great local shopping experience!

Without him and his talent, creativity, and his desire to please customers, we would have been in a terrible bind. He spent the whole day taking care of a problem with our bathroom floor that was a bigger job than originally thought. This company ROCKS!!! These people care!! My daughter (almost two) and I spent the better part of two hours wandering around, enjoying the flora and the different examples of what they call Best Management Practices - examples of building and landscaping methods that best minimize erosion and control water runoff. It's an interesting way to involve everyone - homeowners and renters a like - in preserving Lake Tahoe. It also makes for a really cool visit, because it almost feels like you're wandering through what's left of Middle Earth, finding a new "house" around each turn. Each structure has signage explaining why it benefits the basin. The plants are all clearly labeled, though with a toddler in tow I wasn't able to hunt down what this giant shrub in growing in our backyard (maybe next trip we'll take da hubby with us).
