Marriott is the worlds largest Hotel conglomerate and I was happy to find availability at the very small but connected city of Geneva.
Location: situated roughly 10-15 minutes outside of Geneva's international airport and centrally accessible by light rail. I wish I did note research as this property provides airport shuttle services, which would have lightened my load having to walk through residential streets in the rain (thank you Google Maps...). In any case; now I know. For a return trip to the airport; the shuttle itself runs every 30 minutes, and is advised to be in front of the vehicle 10 minutes prior to departure.
On Arrival: I was happy to finally enter dry space! The hotel itself is open concept, with the lobby, restaurant and reception desk sharing the divided spaces. I like the modern and simplistic touches of wood, metals and neutral color palettes of grey, black, white and red (very Marriott). A friendly Front Desk Agent assisted with my check-in seamlessly and provided information about the city as it was my first time visiting Geneva. I was even given a free transportation pass to roam city, and had I known; I would not have purchased one beforehand. But nonetheless, free is great!
The Room: being a Marriott Platinum Elite member, it meant that upgrades are potentially offered (though not guaranteed). I was upgraded to a Club Room, and per my elite benefits; late checkout up until 4PM and executive lounge access was provided. This hotel is also very environmentally friendly; bamboo room keys and metal water bottle refillable at water stations throughout the property. I loved the ample amount of charging ports, the square footage of the room, and the beautiful bathroom with rainfall walk in shower!
Dinning On Property: I felt that the prices at the restaurant were a tad on the higher end, but that is to be expected at hotels. The shining gem is the executive lounge in which I utilized for light meals, snacks, and nightcaps involving wine. For Platinum elite members and above, breakfast is utilized at the executive lounge as well and it did not disappoint. Turns out my first morning in Geneva was also the hotels first rollout of breakfast in the lounge. A friendly French speaker manager assisted with our meal; eggs, bacon, sausages, and mushrooms were available as hot options, and of course coffee and other beverages. I'm sure if I had asked for an omelette, that the manager would have happily provided. However, I was most indeed full.
Final thoughts: this is a wonderful hotel to stay at if you are ever in Geneva. read more
