I don't live in the area, so I had my hair done when I came to town to see some close friends. I…read morehad heard from my best friend that there was a cosmetology school nearby. They were easy to find via search on maps online. I've always had good experiences with haircuts, trims and color around the country at cosmetology schools but this was by far the most professional looking school I had ever encountered! I don't know who runs it but I'd like to find out. First off, when I went inside, I was greeted by a beautiful, calm, almost spa-like atmosphere instead of the usual smell of perming solution and color. I don't know if I was just there on a good day or if this is the usual way, but bravo to the owner and staff for the ambience. (See picture, had I not been in a hurry that day I think I would have indulged in a full line of services and took many more pictures of the mottos on the walls). The students and instructors, most of whom I did notice were younger and female, had well put together looks...ranging from conservative to alternative/experimental. The clientele that day were like myself: ranging from middle aged women up to the elderly. The young lady who did my hair consult seemed to immediately understand my hair type and I opted to get wash and waves similar to what she was wearing that day. I was going to get a trim but it wasn't necessary and I like that she didn't talk me into unneeded services, something I have unfortunately experienced at many salons. We had a good chat about a variety of topics as she worked on my look. I left there feeling more confident. I should have took a before picture, as my hair was a complete humidity-trashed messed when I had arrived. The only downfall to the experience is despite a light dusting of hairspray, my look didn't last two days as I was hoping; it lasted twelve hours. I don't know whether to attribute that to my hair or maybe it needed the humidity-proof hairspray I have used in the past, but all in all, I give Kristen and the others a 5 out of 5 and will definitely return when I am in the area again one day.

I called again on Saturday morning and they got me right in for a cut, color, eyebrow wax and pedicure. Tyler and the teacher helping did a great job on my hair. I wish the color was a little more red but I'll know for next time. My eyebrow wax was also well done. However, my pedicure is another story. The girl sat down and said she was going to time herself to have it done in 25 minutes. What? 10 minutes in she was ready to put on the base coat. She cut my nails (unevenly) and didn't file them. Didn't remove cuticles or calluses. I told her I had to go and didn't let her finish. The school was very nice and only charged me for the cut and color. I recommend for hair but not for nails!

The VA reps and advisors won't even talk to you unless your registered to the school. Soo.... you have to be a student to get help to become a student?? They dodge any questions or concerns about Financial Aid until your classes are set up where.. of course... they ask for more paperwork which prevent you from registering for the classes/semester your already set for.. It doesn't make any sense how they do things. Attempting to understand their system to aid my Son has been a catastrophe... for a F**KING COMMUNITY COLLEGE!!!!!!! I just want to take the classes and finish my degree but apparently being able to take the classes is the hardest part

A hot mess! The start date for class was postponed two weeks later the day BEFORE the original…read morestart date because of a "family emergency". Two weeks later we're told we have a new instructor just for the second day another family emergency occurs with her which isn't her fault. However the following day everyone is waiting outside the locked doors 15 minutes after class was supposed to start because no one's there! No lights, doors locked, no one was answering our calls, no emails or a heads up, nothing! Our class of 25 dropped to 8 that following week because the lack of unprofessionalism and communication was absurd. The one saving grace out of this school was our instructor Miss Terri. She went above and beyond making sure we weren't behind on our course due to the inconveniences that occurred that disrupted our learning days. She was patient, understanding, and lit up the classroom with her lively energy. If it wasn't for her I think the course would've been postponed again for god knows how long until they found another teacher on short notice, she saved my time and made sticking through the struggles worth it. I couldn't be more grateful but besides that I would not recommend. The lack of communication was terrible from the people in charge and even though Google reviews has a high rating (god knows how) I recommend going somewhere else for these kind of certifications. Yes it might cost a bit more but trust no low price is worth the headache and uncertainty.
