If the kindness Jeff showed to me is representative of the quality of service offered by Gene's Service, I don't think it could be any better.
I was riding my bicycle through Muskegon on a day 3 of 6 day bike tour when I had problems with my spokes and was advised to get a new wheel ASAP. I was told that a good choice was Breakaway Bicycles was located near the corner of Sherman and McKraken. To my dismay, the cycle shop had relocated 7 years prior to a location about 8 miles away. Well, given that my tour route mileage was 60 for the day, adding another 16 (round trip) was not appealing. So I called the bike shop and asked if they could pick me up and transport me and my bike to the shop. My heart sank when I was told they didn't have a vehicle that would allow for that.
I went into Gene's Service and asked Jeff if he knew of other bike shops. He gave me the name of another shop to call; however, they told me they had been selling a lot of wheels and probably didn't have one in stock to fit my bike. My spirits sank even lower. I feared that I might not be able to complete the tour.
Then Jeff came to my rescue. He said he'd put my bike into the back of his pick up and drive me to the relocated bike shop. His generosity amazed me and his willingness to go so far out of his way to help a complete stranger who wasn't even a customer seems exemplary of someone of sterling character.
If I lived near Muskegon, all of my needs for vehicle service work would be sought from Gene's.
Words of thanks seem inadequate, but THANK YOU Jeff.
