If you are considering doing business with Generation GMC, be very careful -- especially when it comes to trade-ins and lease payoffs. We traded in a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado on February 21st while leasing a 2026 GMC Sierra. We were clearly and repeatedly told by our salesperson that the dealership would handle the lease payoff through Jovia (Fusion), including remaining payments before the March 6th due date. That never happened. For over a month, we were given false information and reassured that everything was taken care of. Meanwhile, Jovia/Fusion had no record of any communication or payment from the dealership. The reality: Two missed payments were reported, damaging my husband's credit We received a DMV notice that the registration was expiring We have now received a collections letter due to their failure to act The vehicle wasn't even processed -- it was sitting in the back of the lot, not listed for sale Only after physically going to the dealership on April 7th did they admit fault and send the payoff. Even more concerning, when we escalated this to management, they responded once to schedule a call -- and then completely stopped responding. This goes far beyond poor customer service. This is a failure to handle financial obligations responsibly, and it had real consequences for us. Later, the finance manager claimed my score was only 699 and gave me 6.99%, promising I could refinance in 3 months. When I received the bank statement, the APR was actually 9.19%! They also added a $6,275 service contract to my loan without my consent. They verbally promised it could be refunded, but have delayed for weeks and never processed it. From beginning to end him and everyone else has been amazing in Kia service. On March 12th I got a tire from them because the slow leak I had in my tire was from "wear and tear, no hole detected" OK, I don't agree with it, my tires were all 10 months old but whatever I get the rear two tires for 130 each. 2 days later I am still filling up the tire every 2 days (even though its brand new). I can't bring my car back during normal business hours because I have a job and a baby, I find some time the other night on April 2nd, (That in itself was difficult because even though they said I can drop it off overnight their entire lot is locked and their keybox drop off is not even locked, I have to park my car on the Service road, and hope nobody steals my keys in the unlocked drop box) The morning of they send me a video, oh the tire has a hole, 130 for a new tire. Wait a minute, I just got this tire not even a month ago! There is nothing they can do. How does a Kia dealership not have a warantee of a tire!? ITS UNDER A MONTH! This past Tuesday I brought my adult working professional daughter to Kia (in Bohemia NY) after visiting Hyundai 112 (Medford NY). The idea was to compare the Tucson and the Sportage (my favorite) and see which she wanted to lease. At Kia we were greeted by a person named Mansa. We explained to Mansa that we had an 75 minutes and we were interested in test driving the base model sportage and getting a lease quote... I also explained that I will be interested in what happens today as I love the Sportage and would be willing to come back to Kia as my lease is up in only a few months... So this salesperson knew he had a potential 2 leases. Lonnggg story short - Mansa took us out side showed us the models and asked which one my daughter wanted to test drive... he left to get the keys -came back 15 minutes later NO KEYS, this happen two more times equaling 41 minutes outside... NO KEYS/NO TEST DRIVE. Finally he says "how about we go inside and I'll get you some numbers and then you can test drive" (never explaining why he never got the keys or what the heck he was doing each time he left us waiting outside). Great, let's at least get that done... he walks us to the desk, says he will be right back (we figure he's going to get some numbers for the lease) 20 minutes go by of me watching him talking and laughing in the managers area... walking in and out of the building... singing, bopping around like he was dance/walking- he re-emerges at the desk empty handed AGAIN and points to some sign sitting on this desk and tells my daughter to follow a link and answer the questions so she can get some prices... now I'm besides myself... I asked Mansa what he was doing? I reminded him of the no keys 3 times / the disappearing to get paper work and doing everything but / and now pointing to something on his desk that he could have told us to do before he took off. -it's about an hour now and he says "I couldn't find any keys, and when I left you at the desk I had to get someone's car that they came to pick up" I explained what I watched him doing and he laughed. - WE walked out and I will NEVER return... I am a 3 x Kia customer who leased each one and I love these cars... during the pandemic we in America had a chip shortage and the dealerships gouged away and played awful numbers games. I had a 30K service done on my Kia Niro which cost $1000.00. At the time I thought that sounded high, but not having researched it, I foolishly just paid. The oil was not changed at that time because the tech said it still looked good. (So I paid $1000.00 without even having the oil changed!!! Again, my bad!) Fast forward a few months later I called to ask their price for an oil change-$99.00. (Also very high!!) At that point I went to a different dealership where they charged $70.00. The tech. noticed I needed a new cabin air filter, which, by the way, should have been part of the 30K service at Generation. And it was indeed filthy; almost black and covered with small leaves and other foreign particles. So that cost me an additional $90.00. Something else I didn't like about Generation-when the car was there for the 30K service they replaced my licence plate frame with one of their own, advertising generation KIA. I don't know if this is common practice for service visits, but I didn't appreciate them doing that. Needless to say I will be removing that frame. Tried to negotiate prices closer to 12k before I even troubled them for a test drive cause I didn't want to waste each other's time. Joe told me that they will not budge on the price since that's what they paid the previous owner as a trade-in. I find it hard to believe that a dealership paid 14k for a 15 year old used car while the average price for a new Kia is around 35-40k. Not giving a bad review cause negotiations didn't go my way but if you are going to bs then do a better job. I will be less disappointed if they told me they are not flexible and I will still do business with them. They sold a car listed on line for $11,890 (still have the printout) for $18,638.24 plus a "pressure job" to add on almost another $5,000 of useless warranties. The car had a lot of problems but somehow most of those problems were never covered by any of the warranties. With the inflated cost of the car plus warranties and upfront finance charge, the final cost of the 2014 Jeep Patriot was $29,182. They fold the final contract in half so you don't see what you are signing and after being held hostage all day-exhausted and starving--you'll sign anything. If this has happened to you, contact the New York State attorney general's office and BBB. The will definitely follow up on it. read more

The worst experience, they sold me a car with no floor mats. And that's the least of the problems I've had with Kia - just awful!

What a terrible service department. Can't speak about sales, this review is not related to that department. My wife has a 2020 Kia Sorento, which is about a month old. There is water leaking on the passenger side floor when using air conditioning. Fairly obvious what it is, must be an air conditioning condensation drain-hose, which is clogged. A quick Google search confirmed that is in fact the issue, it's a known problem. My wife was on-the-road, stopped by Kia's service department in Bohemia, the gentleman looked in the computer, and said this would not be covered under the warranty, on a month old leased vehicle. Not only did we have to leave the car there for DAYS, but he also quoted about ~$160.00 plus 'parts'. She called me, I told her it was a scam, and we'd take care of it during her next oil change, which was going to be that week. After all, it's basically clean water, no odor, wasn't that big of a deal short-term. She went to our mechanic that we have been using for years for the oil change, he put the car on the lift, stuck a screwdriver in the drain-hose, all the water gushed out. Guess how much? No dollars, that's how much. If he had to put the car on the lift without the oil change, he likely still wouldn't have charged anything, so we'd tip him a few bucks for his time. Even he knew exactly what it was though, a commonly known issue for Kia or not, it's obvious. I understand the 'unknown', you've got to figure out an issue, charge some 'minimum' fee to evaluate. I get it. But that was not the case here. A clean water leak ONLY when the air conditioning it is, what else could it be? Not like the car has water lines running through it. There's no sink in the car. But, this is a COMMON problem, they know that, so it's an obvious way to take advantage of people that don't know any better. Luckily, she knows better and isn't a sucker. Putting all of that aside, why would this not be under warranty? You think this is what they would want to cover under warranty, something that's 1-2-3. ‍ This is EXACTLY why we don't shop directly at car dealerships anymore. We use a car concierge service, which deals with the dealerships directly, and we don't have to waste our time, because that's exactly what you get when dealing with these shysters. I purchased a vehicle with Johann the day after Christmas. I wanted specific things which doesn't come standard on the Envista. He said we would have to order and that it would be 6 to 8 weeks to receive. I was not in any rush and 8 weeks was my birthday to the date! Great, sign me up. I left $1000 deposit and walked out a happy lady. At the end of week 6 I sent an e-mail to Johann to check on status. I sent it on a Tuesday and by Thursday same time I still hadn't heard back from him. People are busy. Ok, no problem. I'll give him a call. He answered. He proceeds to tell me it has changed to 4 to 6 months AND that he didn't even place the order yet. How could that be?! Johann apologized for the "miscommunication". We spoke about alternative options, he had to run something past his manager and would call me back. Two hours later he still hadn't called me back. I had to call the dealership to speak to a manager due to this severe delay. I was put on hold, asked what I wanted, put on hold, asked what I wanted, put on hold, after a long hold another woman came on and said "Johann is in a training". Well that's great but I was not looking for him rather his manager. This woman again had to ask why I was calling. I relayed the short version, she was very polite and told me she would forward me to the manager. After about another 10 minutes John came to the phone. I re-told the situation once again and asked him what my options were. Basically, I had to decide if I would take a car with packages I didn't want with a higher price or wait 4 to 6 months for the packages I wanted. What we are talking about here is an Envista basic model with a remote start and two toned wheels. The wheels is the apparent issue. Since I'm buying my first brand new car it should be exactly what I am looking for. I asked John if there was any way to expedite a new order. He repeats 4 to 6 months for manufacture. Wow. Why is it so different from December when Johann told me that it was 6 to 8 weeks? Turns out the "miscommunication" was that Johann actually quoted the wrong timeframe to begin with. The standard is 4 to 6 months! No delay in components, freight strikes, or any other crazy thing going on these days. He just didn't know or lied to me to get a sale. John was going to reach out to ... someone... to see if my order could be expedited. Maybe we could put it in line with my original December date. Ok, that would mean my first new car, the one I really want, would arrive between April and June. It's already February so why not? John promised to call me back before the day was over. Johann called me back a few hours later. I had returned to work so I had missed it. I called back maybe 20 minutes later. No answer, went to voicemail but his voicemail is not set up. AM I BEING PUNK'D? I called the dealership to speak with John. They put Johann on the phone. Now John was in a training. Johann stated that John could expedite my order to 4 to 5 months instead of 6. From the date of my original order? No from the date we place the order. Why wasn't the original order placed? Oh yeah. A "miscommunication". I felt like I had to fact check what Johann was telling me so I left a message for John. A day has passed without a response. I received no apology for this mistake or how it was handled. Wasn't planning to do a response review but the dealer has the chutzpah to say "so we made sure your vehicle was covered and you got a brand new motor at no charge," when getting the new motor was a months-long nightmare and time-suck for my family. I bought and paid for a Certified car. The so-called brand new motor at no charge was done by a reputable Kia dealer in North Carolina, not Generation Kia, as NC is where we were travelling when the engine blew up, the night before Thanksgiving. Generation says here that there was no way to detect the engine sludge. Maybe. I'm not a mechanic. The NC mechanic DID say the engine failure was due to a complete lack of maintenance. The SUV had 30K miles. You decide. I will also mention here that during the test drive, the brakes rattled and smoked (a lot), so we were at Generation an extra three hours while they fixed a problem they should have easily noticed beforehand. Last weekend I paid over $1,000 for my car to get new brakes and roaders from Sunrise Toyota. So we have used Generation Kia a number of times, Patty B has always ben a great and knowledgeable sales person. But today was the final straw. every time we go to the finance table they are always asking for more money as the down payment and them kill you with taxes and fees. I went into the dealership this time after emailing with our salesperson because they had been calling and sending letters stating that they would wipe out our lease and the car may have appreciated i value. I stated that I would only come in to talk if they could also lower our car payment. Even before I started the in person conversation, I said I wanted a lower payment than $440 a month.
