After temporary piping repairs and we ran fans for a week with extra heat going before the ceiling downstairs finally dried. We've had insurance claims before but mostly exterior and roofing. That usually involves 1 or 2 skill trades handled by your roofer. This was very different. We knew repairs would involve flooring, cabinetry, sheetrock, additional plumbing, ceiling resurfacing along with painting. I was a bit overwhelmed. After expressing concerns with my Travelers Insurance adjuster he recommended a complete restoration service through Westhill Global. That led us to a local company, GWC Restoration. Daniel put us at ease after assessing the repairs needed. He was very patient with us carefully explaining the complex claims documents as well as delaying start until our son moved from upstairs. In Nov 2020, they removed my cabinets and countertops, citing a 3 week job. In April 2021, I still didn't have a kitchen. They left my home in a disaster, exhibited poor quality workmanship, and did not honor quoted prices, even marking up materials from the "big box" stores, which I offered to buy myself. Word to the wise: be sure to get everything in writing before you let them begin work should you choose to work with this company. Lots of lessons learned throughout this process. But finally have my home back in working order after having a reputable company come in to replace all door jambs after they were sawed off 1", have my stone fireplace rebuilt (since they only caulked it back together), and repainted all baseboards since they were spot painted (with the wrong color)- none of which were the actual jobs SPC were hired to complete, just $4K of damage they did during the process of correcting my home. Two of the men climbed around our fairly steep roof and carefully marked hail damage using white chalk on our dark roof. I was impressed because I had never seen this attention to detail before. They did not push us with any typical hard sell you often get. They just checked in on occasion when they were in the neighborhood to see if we were interested in them doing the work. I filed a claim, the adjuster came out and confirmed, yes, we had adequate hail damage from last May to get a new roof. Two guys came out for us to sign the contract and were very polite and cordial. We scheduled the roof install for last Wednesday. As promised, the Quality Choice Team dropped off the supplies Tuesday. As promised, the Quality Choice Team showed up beginning at 7:00 AM and then roofing commenced promptly at 8:00 AM. They planned to complete the roof on Wednesday; however, a small team showed up to complete the roof on Thursday. Which was not a problem at all. The foreman, who had been present since he did the initial evaluation of our roof damage, was present the entire time, overseeing all aspects of the roofing job, picking up stray nails, staples, etc., and I believe taking photographs. My husband said they did a drone filming of the roof, although I haven't seen it, nor did I know about it. The other neighbor's roofs that Quality Choice repaired looked great and their yards and shrubs didn't appear to be damaged. We picked up maybe 2 small handfuls of errant nails/staples. I think Quality Choice did a fine job on "30-year shingles" for our roof. They did not contest the insurance estimate. nor alter it in any way.
