I have been with this company since I got my license at 18 ( I am 27 ). I have had one accident in my first year of driving and then after being with them for another 8 years had received my first speeding ticket which they proceeded to bump my insurance rate up over 25 bucks a month. I figured this would go down in a year or so, nope the next year they raised my rate to $113 a month! I had not gotten any tickets or accidents justifying this raise and upon consultation I felt they were rude and basically said If i did not like it I could leave. So that is just what i did, the first company I called saved me 40 bucks a month saying I was a good driver and did not need to be paying that much (basically this place is a huge rip off). Only adding onto this they had renewed my policy at the $113 a month without consulting me about the raise (which was a pain in the butt because they only auto deduct through checking account so i nearly over drafted thanks for that!) but let me know there was going to be a fee to cancel my policy after it had gone into effect 2 days prior, when i asked how much this fee was going to be they said they didn't know and i had to google the phone number and call Mercury to find out (super helpful) so the grand total was in the $50 dollar range, I emailed in regards to cancelling my policy (which i highly recommend to anyone thinking about cancelling and you will see why) i was told the fee would be taken out of my return and the rest sent back to me. This was the end of April, I waited until the beginning of June after I had received a letting from Mercury which I thought was a check but turned out to be a bill! basically saying that they used up my balance and my insurance would end mid June. I was confused and knew that they obviously did not do their job correctly otherwise i would have been holding a check in my hands instead of this bill. I emailed back to Heidi and asked what was going on, she told me she would find out and get back to me. A handful of days later i had heard nothing so emailed her again, said that she would have to check with corporate, emailed again, this time saying she just got off the phone and they were working on my info (strange after only 6 weeks?!) that she would message me the next day with an update. 4 more days pass by and i email her again (great customer service) she let me know the check was cut the prior day and should be arriving anytime. Thinking i was finally done with this marry go round of reminders as to why i left their services i got my check tonight. Tore it open and it is for $36 bucks when i was told it would be for about $60 ($113-$50 plus two days prorated) now it is not a big amount difference but their service, or lack thereof to someone who has been a client for nearly 9 years! lack of communication and inability to give me an accurate quote on a return just proves how incompetent this place really is, and a HUGE rip off....I am unsure of what other people are talking about for good driver bonus checks on here because I can assure you my family (Grandmother, Mother and Brother) who have all not been in any accidents or moving violations have never received one and i am recommending them to go really ANYWHERE else. read more
