I have been to two of Nate's outdoor bootcamps, and they were both really tough…read more The regulars are really nice and will show the typical warmup people do while class is getting started. Obviously, when the instructor gets there - he goes over it with you too. The first class I attended had a lower body focus, and we did running, step ups, single leg things, squats, running, jumps .... It was no joke, and a good workout. The second class I attended was seriously killer. It was apparently cardio day, and boy did we run. We ran to the penn track area and did a ton of running, sprints, etc. He made it sort of competitive, but in a way that didn't make people feel bad. The "break" between sprinting was running up and down stairs with your hands over your head. (Doesn't sound hard, you say? You try being exhausted from sprinting and then do it. You can get back to me.) I will definitely be going back to early morning classes in the fall and spring (I am a teacher and don't so 6ams in summer. And winter is too cold for me.) They meet rain or shine (or snow?) so be sure to check them out. One thing I wish they had was a better website! But they are on classpass!

*OUTDOOR BOOTCAMP REVIEW* (2400 Walnut under the bridge)…read more Ughhhh Nate, I hate you. But I love you. These classes are legit brutal and you feel like dying the whole time. Because there are no weights, you're using body weight the whole time which is infinitely harder. Each class has a focus (upper body, cardio, lower body) 6am or 7pm. Class size approx 5-10 people , 75/25 women/men. The workouts are different than anything I normally do at the gym/other studios, again because it's all body weight. He varies it up every class and every so often so you're not bored. And most likely you're dying anyways so you can't really be bored while dying right? Be prepared to rough it! You're going to be doing pushups on the gravel so gloves help. You're going to be doing ab work on the muddy grass, so don't come with fancy clothes. And you're sweating the whole time! Nate is tough, but also super nice. I love that he compliments you when deserved so you feel so much better. He does some competition stuff, which also pushes you to want to beat the others in class, but in a friendly way. I took Nate for 2 months in the summer via a Groupon (btw very worth the $) and got a ton of comments from friends on how I looked more tone and stuff! So glad they're on Classpass!

You get a different HIIT type workout per class you choose. A few of the classes are stretch classes but even those will feel like an intense workout for me. You may get to use plates, a battle rope, the usual weights, jump rope, a mini "track" where you bend down and get back up running back and forth, and semi-gym bike you must balance yourself on. Visiting many fitness centers including this one has helped me appreciate what is here more. My body acted weird with the 12 workouts I had here as I surprisingly never lost weight except for one time when I had 2 workouts on a Thursday and a Saturday, I temporarily suddenly lost 9 lbs. I couldn't do workouts harder than I did as I would get dizzy and I have been checked for these physical reactions already and I am thankfully fine. My stamina rebuilding has been real slow. I do wish there was some short breaks planned because I get worn out and start to hate exercise with the constant pressure to move. Every gym and almost every trainer I have been with has been like this though. You have to try to pace yourself completely :( This is a good place for getting a quality workout for your money's worth.

I love that the routines vary every day and we use all different types of equipment as our coach observes and corrects form and suggests alternatives if needed. The location is impeccably clean and organized and also offer juices, smoothies and meals to kickstart your fitness goals. Financial options that are affordable also help me tremendously to stay on my path to improved health. Check it out!!

I chose Ivy rehab because I could walk to it (poorly) from my home…read more I called for an appointment and they helped me walk through getting a current script from my doctor. I really hate paper work. I walked in for my first appointment. The energy in there is so welcoming. Vi, at the front desk makes it all work. And she makes coffee for anyone who wants one. My first therapist was Michael. He was only subbing for another therapist, but now he is full time and he is great. I see a variety of the other therapist and they are all wonderful. So now, having had my coffee, I began my physical therapy. Love the therapists. They explain what you are going to do, why you are doing it, and model the exercise. They will say, "next we are going to do" but they really mean you are doing them. We are all in different modes of exercise. We are all in various stages of treatment, and yet everyone is comfortable working there. One word of caution, once you let them know a particular exercise has gotten easy, they ramp it up. But it is for your own good., or so they tell me. A result I did not expect is how much better I feel all over, physically and mentally. My friend told me it is the endorphins that are released during your exercises. And it is true. I actually look forward to going to Ivy rehab. Gina
