Shirley Carpet Centre was the closest carpet seller to where we lived; we also chose their services because they had a longstanding reputation and had been established in the same location for many decades. The carpet was of finest quality at a cheap price and the staff were always more than ready to help us with questions that we had about getting the measurements right and ensuring that the carpet fitted properly. The end result was a success and we thank Shirley Carpet Centre for all their help and hard work.

The answers were vague and they didn't have a willing attitude. So my impression of Shirley Carpet centre would have improved if they engaged with me better and appeared to have a genuine interest in their shop/ job. I thought a lot of the carpets looked quiet old but must admit some of them had nice designs. They also have quality material and the prices are good. It's good to know they also have a fitter and his prices depend upon the size of the job. Although he charges, this guy is quick and efficient. Considering all of this it wasn't a surprise when I heard of their good reputation and that they've been based in Shirley for a few decades. They came out and measured-up (free of charge) and came and fitted the flooring a few days later. One of the fitters forgot to add a metal strip in one of the door frames so, after a quick call to the shop, the manager came out and fitted it himself, which should tell you all you need to know about their customer service. They have a showroom on site so you can browse through their stock.

It felt as if they tried to fit too much in one. Maybe simpler would have been better? I like it when shops go the extra mile and I think Olton carpets could have done this selling carpet cleaner. This might make them stand out a bit more from all the other local carpet shops. Putting the negative aspect aside, I thought they have some very nice designs and a good range of styles, such as thick or thin. My favourites were the colourful carpets. It seemed as if the more modern looking carpets were at the back. They also do free fittings. I wouldn't mind coming back here as a last resort because they some nice designs and free fittings but there are lots of other better choices that offer the same services.

I have to admit when walking into this shop for the first time, it did look like a tip and the appearance in one half of the shop was not great. Especially as this is a carpet shop, you would expect the cleanliness and appearance to be first-class. I didn't get that impression when walking into the shop. But the other half of the store that had all the carpets was in much better condition. There were a number of different carpets in terms of designs and colours. I have to say the carpets on sale here are for sure affordable and not too expensive. The staff are OK but I still think Britannia Carpets could do with being refurbished. Just by entering the store, people could so easily be put off and I would understand.

He was courteous and spent a great length of time ensuring that we got quotes on the products we actually needed. The staff are really helpful and often offer a delivery service if you are in dire need of help. The carpets are of very high quality, but they also offer a range of cheaper, less quality carpets at discount prices when they want to get rid of them! They are worth rummaging through or asking staff about because they are never worn or torn, but are still really good.
