There are plenty of computer cafes out there that lets me play games with a high speed internet connection and a good rig. Most of them come off as generic and don't really give off a unique vibe to them, not Minesky Infinity though. The thing that makes Mineski Infinity unique is that it wasn't started by people who looked at it solely from a business oriented perspective. The people who started Minesky Infinity are a group of students who were themselves hardcore gamers. Their internet cafes are basically made by hardcore gamers, for hardcore gamers, of hardcore gamers. Everything is great. Sure you won't be using products from the likes of Razer, but their keyboard and mice are of great quality. They have headphones that do a good job of bringing a level of sound and comfort I wish I'd get more often from other internet cafes. they clean their equipment regularly and replace the ones that are broken. Given just how well some kids treat internet cafe equipment I'd say that's a massive plus for Mineski Infinity. To date, I haven't found a internet cafe franchise that handles its business as well as these guys do. Sure there are probably cafes that are as good, if not better, but none of them have the presence that Mineski has. It is the gold standard of internet cafes so far as I'm concerned.

Which is kinda cool 'cause let's say there are 10 of you in a group, you could have 2 hours worth of game play PLUS a substantial amount of drinks and food. Pretty good for the budget conscious. The staff's really friendly, too. They'll assist you with everything that you need, so that you don't feel awkward even on your first visit. If you need to do basic internet surfing they are able to connect you to apps and sites like Google for search, Skype for communication and Facebook and Twitter for social media and many more. I often go here for my printing and copy needs. They provide the basic services of black & white and colored printing. They also do photo printing and business card printing (which includes the cutting service already) for a decent price. Of course there are units for gaming as well but I love that most people who come here use the place for their business needs so its pretty quiet most of the time.

The thing about Speedbytes is, even if it's 2 pesos per page there, it's kind of worth it in a way. Speedbytes is an internet cafe on the ground floor of EGI Building at Taft, near DLSU. It's pretty much your run of the mill internet cafe. It has aircon, and a mildly cheaper rate than the rest of the cafes in the area at 25 an hour. For me though, it's a really great place to print. They meet my number 1 requirement for printing, which is that they print FAST. By fast, I mean, somehow even if they have a lot of orders, I still normally get finished within 5 minutes of walking in. This is insanely important to every student. All you irresponsible students like me, you know what it's like to be rushing, with 10 minutes before the deadline and the office being on the other edge of school. It's in times like these where a fast printing place like Speedbytes is an absolute godsend.

If you wanted access to the internet you really had to go to a computer shop to get things done. You really had no other option. Netopia was the first franchise of internet shops that was received with some sort of success. It began to spring up in a lot of other places like malls. Others tried to follow suit, but few were as popular as Netopia. It was an expensive internet cafe compared to most, but then again considering their hardware and the speed of their ISP it was something to be expected. However, as more and more generic computer shops sprung up, Netopia eventually lost its market share since they were too expensive. I mean, the I remember their introductory hourly rate was at fifty pesos. Today, a typical computer shop usually has a three hour promo for that price. You can only imagine how expensive that must be considering that this was back in the early 2000s.

They can cost a lot for a starting business owner after all. But I did try printing my own digital paintings there. Sometimes, there are problems with the printer calibration, but they do allow printing a sample first so you can request adjustments. That is why since college, or for a decade now, I still go to Alva Computer and Photocopy Services for my printing and photocopying needs. They may not be the shop that offers the cheapest rate for these services in the Taft Avenue and Vito Cruz areas, but the quality of their finished product makes all the difference. Their "powder xerox" (at Php .60 per page) is of already of print quality (there's none of the usual grey and black smudges on the paper). What's more, they use good quality (read: thick) paper, not those flimsy coupon bonds used by other photocopiers. When you're on a budget and need multiple copies of a document that have to look like the original, just have them print one set and photocopy the rest. It's cheaper that way, and the difference in quality is not that noticeable. Black and white printing would cost you Php 2 per page, more than the usual "piso print", but again, quality spells the difference. Colored printing starts at Php 5, cheaper than in other shops. Aside from printing and photocopying services, the Estrada Branch also offers ID picture-taking and printing, colored photocopying, and poster printing. The shop also doubles as an Internet cafe.

When I met up with her in the train station, she informed me that she still had to print her CVs out in Netopia. This Netopia opens at 10am. There's already going to be a line outside it with people all rushing to have their documents printed, scanned, and edited. Knowing that all these people are in a rush, the staff of Netopia work fast but well. The place is a bit small, but if you won't be using their computers, you'll be fine. If you do need to use their computers, they have all the programs you need. And if you get stuck, one of their staff will be able to help you out.

It was so slow and so unreliable that it was almost impossible to do anything. And of course, school requirements and Friendster Testimonials couldn't be left behind. I had to be in Netopia almost every day and it wasn't difficult at all. Their rates are good; the connection is fast and their hardware reliable. This place gives me a sense of nostalgia just because in those days, I had it hard. And as I write this review in the comforts of my room, using my laptop and high-speed connection, I'd like to end this by saying thank you to Netopia, You're shop has made it possible for me to survive my college years without internet or a laptop.
