Piccola Roma is a tiny hostaria, and one of my favorite restaurants in Rome. The friendly,…read morerelaxed, atmosphere has a unique vibe that I've only run across in here in the Eternal City :-)
The restaurant is very popular, with a solid majority of the patrons being locals. Whenever I return to Rome, this is one of the 1st restaurants I make a point to visit; the food is authentic Roman cuisine. Antionio and Claudio, the owners, are wonderful hosts! Antonio's English is excellent.
While the food is always consistently good, the last time I stopped by the food was excellent - the best I've had at Piccola Roma yet! We enjoyed two different bean soups, as well as Pasta all'Amatriciana (bacon and tomato sauce) and a delicious lamb preparation. It all made for quite a memorable meal.
Other times, I've had the pasta alla ciociara, which I recommend highly. I also recommend the ossobuco and the saltimbocca, but you really can't go wrong with anything you order here!
When you visit this restaurant, nothing is rushed. The service is friend and courteous, with a good dose of Roman humor. The staffers speak excellent English, and take their time answering any questions you might have about Roman cuisine.
