Last week, two Gecko technicians - Charlie and Dillon - happened to be in our Cedar Hill, Texas neighborhood. My husband and I went out and asked them if they could look at our lawn and give us an estimate for lawn help (we just moved here last summer from out of state, and the lawn around our new house is struggling; lots of weeds, some bare spots, etc). Charlie and Dillon took the time to walk through both our front and back yards. They listened to our concerns and gave us their opinions as to what some of the causes were (such as long-time absence of any prior aeration) for some of our lawn problems. They then consulted with their headquarters team and came up with a fairly-priced estimate for aeration, fertilization, weed control, tree care, and other lawn care tasks - all which will be regularly carried out throughout the next 12 months. Charlie and Dillon took the time to thoroughly answer more questions. They were also very up front in terms of expectation management - especially with regard to our weed situation (it might take some significant time and work to get the grass growing like it should and to get our weed situation under control). They also provided us with a referral to a local landscaping company for help getting new crepe myrtles installed near our fence line. Today, different Gecko technicians came out to our home to get started on the lawn care work. They arrived as scheduled and were professional, efficient, and unobtrusive. Gecko's tree care specialist - Mike - arrived later in the afternoon. He tended to our fledgling shrubs and trees and sprayed leaf treatment on a few fledgling crepe myrtles out back. He then took the time to point out aspects of our crepe myrtles and to help us figure out if we would be able to plant more near our fence line to fill in some gaps. He seemed to know a whole lot about crepe myrtles and educated us well in the basics of them (including best time to plant them, considerations for their placement, etc). Every Gecko Green representative we have interacted with has been professional and friendly. So far, we are very impressed with the quality of their services, customer service, and pricing. Have had this company for almost a year, until today. Got a notification yesterday that someone would be out to service the lawn. Saw no one all day, and then I get another text wanting me to rate the person providing the service. I'm confused and call the company. They inform me that he was out here and spoke to me this morning. Not a chance. I informed them that I wanted to cancel the service due to this issue and was sent over to a quality control person who informed me that their people had body cameras. So I'm lying now about no one servicing the property? Would not recommend. read more

Technicians did poor job of treating yard. Fast passes with poor/imcomplete coverage. On multiple occasions, technicians didn't even enter back yard to treat it. Called to complain and got the runaround. Fired this service, but still get calls from them trying to give me a good deal on lawn services. I've asked to be removed from their list. read more

I've been a customer for years. Grass is now dying and full of weeds. They want me to wait another two weeks before they come out, as promised, to address the issue. Now they say they are raising their rates again. Talk about being tone deaf. read more

I've had them for two years, and I'm really fed up with their service. Recently, they sprayed Roundup on a 7-foot landscape bush, and it's already killed half of it. They also killed another bush in the backyard that had a 6-foot stake beside it. Their management came out to assess the damage but didn't offer any compensation for the dead bush. They said to let them know if the partially damaged one dies, but I doubt they'll remember to follow up in three months. One technician skipped treating half my lawn, claiming it was covered in fungus and didn't note it in his report. It's frustrating!. When another tech inspected my lawn, he told me there was no fungus. They don't have quality employees read more

Charged $130 for a pest control service. Very poor job. Left half the dirt dobbers on my ceiling. Whatever they used to try and knock them down was drug across my porch ceiling leaving a white streak and chipped paint. Now I'm haveing to wait back for a call from the manager. Wow. Customer service is terrible. It's crazy to send lazy people out, who do a poor job, then expect me to wait around for a refund. Asinine. This is now the second issue I have had with the pest control. The first time I had them put copper in the wrap holes of the brick to keep insects out. How does that work if you miss weap holes?!? It's ridiculous. Lazy companies get disqualified to earn my buisness. The third complaint I have had cost all there buisness with me. read more

I signed up for this service as a trial preferring they fertilize rather than me but what I didn't count on was the timing and adequate fertilization when they did come. They usually notified me prior but their service could be at 6 AM or anytime during the day. They may also come after a rain then I would be expected to water the product in. Most of the time the technician would not walk in any set pattern but just ambled around the yard while some grass got treated and some didn't. They also seemed to have difficulty keeping technicians. I spoke with a person in charge of the technicians but didn't get any satisfaction. I cancelled my contract and will do it myself or look for another company. I think management needs to establish a quality control program to establish proper application procedures. read more

After nine treatments and two core aerations, I am very disappointed with the outcome reflected within my yard. The front yard has some weeds, but looks pretty decent; however, this is what everyone sees from the street and where they proudly post their service sign. My backyard tells a different story. The backyard has an abundance of weeds and crabgrass despite the pre-emergent that was supposedly applied. The Service Summaries mention seeing weeds as well and how they may be hard to control and I understand that I have some responsibility as the homeowner, but placing this excerpt in the last two service summaries knowing that they are the ones servicing the yard over the last year does not excuse how my yard appears. I would rather take on this job myself as to waste any more money on this service. I live in a large HOA controlled subdivision and I would be willing to bet there are other homeowners in the area in a similar situation where the front yard is worked way more than the backyard. Take Caution before hiring them, if you see their signs posted in a yard--you might ask to look at the whole yard--just not what is seen from the street. Please note that many of the people that praise this service have pools in their backyards--meaning their front yard is their primary service area. For those like me, well, you will pay for over 7,000 square feet to be serviced but BEWARE you may not see the results you paid for. This is a disservice. read more

Those pictures were taken 6 days after their 7th treatment this year. I followed the instructions they told me water my lawn the night or next day after treatment. WhenI call them for re-service when I see no change of the weed, thet always argue with me, ask me to wait 14 days or something always something. Last time when I forget to call them on time, I was told it's too late to request re-service. Very frustrating. Will not waste my money next year. read more

I gave them a year to rid my yard of weeds. $1600 later and still have a major problem with weeds, especially chickweed. I received better results from one application of Weed and Feed from Home Depot. One of the problems is when they come out to spray, they don't spray for the weeds you may have. They only have a schedule to put down certain chemicals at a certain time. Yes, they say call between applications and they will send someone to "retreat." I say, if you did it right the first time, you wouldn't have to retreat between applications. Don't waste your time/money. read more

Buyer beware. I had them service our lawns because the builder did such a crampy job laying sod. I thought it was expensive for the work provided so I cancelled the service. Then the never ending phone calls started. More than a year later I'm still getting annoying phone calls even though I've threatened getting a restraining order and finally a lawsuit. I was a customer for this company last year and they were always polite. I got a call today to ask if I'd like to resume my service and after saying I'm not interested, I was hung up on. I called the guy back immediately, I think his name was Hunter, and he said it was him I just spoke to and when I asked him if I could speak to his manager, either he hung up on me again or he just didn't say anything because there was silence and no response. I contacted the main office and the assured me the situation would be addressed. I had a salesperson come to my home to solicit business and made all of these promises about how much the service will help grass growth and kill my weeds and how the technician would check in with me and discuss what my lawn needed to thrive. None of that happened. After months and hundreds of dollars my grass is no thicker, greener, or filled with less weeds. And on top of that the "technician" who came to my house never communicated with me and was on my property for less than 5 minutes a piece. I called to complain that my lawn still had weeds and they sent out a complimentary service to kill the weeds and still nothing, there are weeds all over my property. I canceled my service and asked for a full refund and for over a month and several calls to their customer service department they denied my request and refused to let me speak to a superior when they said they couldn't help me further. After finally speaking to a manager of the customer service department 6 weeks post-cancelation, they refunded me just under $60, while the entirety of the service cost about $900. read more

Well, I used them for 2 years (seasons). The program is weed control and fertilization. For two years I never actually witnessed them doing the work. I'd get home in the morning or wake up early and see a Gecko sign in the yard already, and think to myself "dang". However the last two times my yard was treated, I was home; it sure seems like they were there for 5 mins. I personally can't broadcast spread and spot treat for weeds in 5 mins. Which is what was done supposedly, according to my Email. But ok. Which brings me to my second complaint. I never got an email my first year. Never had a clue what was being done. Didn't even know I was supposed to get emails. Complaint 3, don't ever get on their call before service (for approval) program. It is a headache. Just have them come out on schedule. You will approve by phone for service the next day, but the system or word doesn't make it to the tech. So they don't come out. You reschedule, of course they need approval. You give it to them. It fails again. Reschedule, finally they come out. Next month same fun times. Back to the present: I called to get an area manager to come out and look at my yard. It's been a week. No visit. I was told rain was a factor. So they apparently don't make visits in the rain. I've been holding off mowing until they came, so they could see the weeds. But it looks like I'll have to show them pictures instead. If I ever see them. Ultimately, the company is fine. Pretty good customer service. *Some issues, but if my yard looked better I would put up with it. But my yard does not. Also I have to mention, I was given watering instructions my first year and beginning of second. The technician was trying to help me green up my yard. So my watering is per their advice. Yes summer heat is too much to keep a yard green. I understand. But if can't get my weeds killed and I can't have a green yard. Then why am I paying? read more

I hired this company for a one year service and prepayed. The result was awful. I had weeds ALL year long and asked for repeat treatments several times. The company told me each time I called it would sometimes take up to 21 days to completely kill certain weeds. Apparently it was all weeds, and they never went away. I would never recommend this company to anyone. THEN after I had cancelled my contract in Dec, they showed up yesterday, sprayed my yard and charged me $67 dollars for a service I did not consent to. Where do I begin? We hired them and they explain the sequence of steps and informed us prior to any arrival that they would let us know so we could lock up dogs as some chemicals for the first few hours were harmful, came unannounced. Let them go. Begged for a 2nd chance, came and put some chemicals down that killed our grass and actually sparked more crab grass than we have ever seen. Greetings, I was excited about trying out Gecko Green in order to brighten up my lawn. The salesmen came on a Thursday March 5, 2020 at approximately 7:00 p.m., and I felt no pressure. I asked for a little time for me to do an independent review of the company. I contacted the salesman the next day (Friday) to set up the services. After going through all of the signup details, I was set up for the first appointment on March 10, 2020. My appointment date had come and gone and no Gecko Green technician came to my resident to service my lawn. I sent an email to scheduling@geckogreen.com stating no one came to service my lawn on the listed date. Shortly after I sent out the email I received an email from Luna, Jesse stating the technician reports he arrived yesterday (March 10, 2020) at 9am and performed a list of services. I reviewed the surveillance cameras at my residence and it showed no technician at my home on the listed date at all. I called the office and stated my findings and the customer representative stated the technician stated in the notes, is he ran out of chemicals at 9am (No tech called to inform me they would not be coming out) and that they can reschedule me for March 13, 2020. That day also came and gone with no technician or phone call from Gecko Green. I called and this time they stated it was raining and to wet (reviewed cameras and it didn't rain at all at my home) therefore the technician could not apply the treatments (also with no call from Gecko Green). I am a new customer this year and I have attempted to work with this company at multiple levels and although they are nice, my yard has never looked worse. I had mildew that was left untreated for months that took it toll due to the extra hot summer and lack of rain. I have a mix of St. Augustine and Bermuda grass - the Bermuda looks great the St. Augustine terrible - not sure if they only want to treat Bermuda but us Texans lover our St. Augustine. I am so depressed at how bad my lawn looks this year. I am not one to post bad reviews but I think people need to be aware of these issues. read more

I called to complain about weeds still growing in my flowerbed after the company supposedly treated at least 3 times now. Also my grass has so many weeds in it after 3 treatments. I also paid for grub worm treatment and it had no effect on the worms. I called for a refund of the grub service and their production manager stated that it only prevents new grubs, not meant to kill existing grubs. I am very disappointed with this company and will never use again nor refer anyone to use the company. read more

He realized we had fungus and decided to spray a fungicide instead of fertilizing as he said, fertilizing, would not help the fungus. Beware, this team does not mark irrigation parts before core aeration. Glad I was home to catch the rookie they sent to do my aeration service before he destroyed my lawn and sprinkler heads. Unapologetic management who didn't seem to understand that we pay for QUALIFIED professionals. Go train your employees on somebody else's property. And sending a supervisor saying they are qualified makes zero difference in the expected outcome we pay for as customers. read more
