The hostess that they say you get for your party was no where to be found. Saw her twice the whole time. So if you have older kids in the family (cousins, friends older kids) be prepared to pay $9 per kid for them to sit in the room and warm a chair. Rip off. Never going back

It's a Friday, there is a cover band and it got pretty crowded. My problem is, there were 2 people serving and one of the servers, our server, is now bartending! There were 2 other people when we got there, who I assumed were the owners. 2 people can not handle a Friday night crowd on their own. Service was sloooooow. Atmosphere and food were very good. I actually felt bad for the servers. Shame on the management!

They made us feel so special and so effortlessly happy. We felt like royalty!! I mean they took care of EVERYTHING you could possibly imagine for you!! Even things I didn't think of! On top of that, the venue is just perfect. It's beautiful and they make it so easy to really bring your entire vision to life! Not to mention.... THE FOOD! The food is outstanding! Every single one of our guests came back to tell us how lovely the evening was, how beautiful the venue is, and how delicious the food is!! I HIGHLY recommend this venue! **big plus for us too was that they made sure we always had a drink if needed AND they packed up food and cake for us to enjoy after and the next days! We appreciated that SO much because my husband and I really didn't have the time to eat all the food in the moment!!**

The employee then told me she isn't an actual waitress, so the venue is hiring off of the street, apparently. The incident was reported to managing staff, whom denied being told when I spoke to her and the owner on the phone. She was quite rude and condescending on the phone. All in all, the venue grounds are quite beautiful, but if anything goes awry, don't expect the business to do anything to accommodate.

It came with a Peter jelly that was tasty and helped, but it was very thin. Service was quite slow. There were a handful of other 2 person parties inside. A couple already had food, so I'm unsure why it took the period of time it did to get served. However, when my Dish arrived, it was delicious. I ordered the Chicken Angelique, with the sauce on the side. The sauce was a high end sausage & white gravy type sauce. Paired with the DELICIOUS Grit Cake, the Chicken and the fried Sweet Potato Hash it was very good! I was not a fan of the Spinach flavors this dish. I normally love Spinach, but this was not a fav for me, so I removed it from my dish. But the dish I'm general was delicious. The husband had the Chicken Maurepas. He said it was "Okay. Nothing to brag about." I tried it and wasn't a fan. Our Server was nice, ( but again, service was slow), the location had a nice atmosphere and was pleasant.

Before heading into our tour of The Oaks in March 2023, we had an idea of wanting our wedding to be at The Oaks, but after our tour, we were dead set on having our wedding at The Oaks! The biggest selling point, aside from the beautiful oaks and outdoor set up, was all of the amenities The Oaks offered. We did not have to worry about finding a catering company, a decorator, or a day of coordinator. For the few vendors we did have to find, The Oaks provided us with a list of vendors, which helped us so much! Fast forward almost a year to the food tasting at The Oaks in January 2024. We loved being able to purchase tickets for our parents to join us. All of the food was amazing and narrowing down a menu was a little hard, but that was a good "problem" to have! In March 2024, we had our 30 day out meeting to finalize our plans. At first I was a bit overwhelmed with all of the decisions needed to be made, but Hannah was very helpful. We also had put our trust into The Oaks, so I felt they would not steer us in the wrong direction. Finally, wedding day! Again, what I felt as a perk was The Oaks providing decorations. It was one less thing we had to worry about, and the decorations were beautiful! Our day of coordinator, Caleb, and his trainee, Dominique, were amazing!! They were there every step of the way and made sure our day was beyond perfect! We cannot thank Caleb and Dominique enough for all they did for us, especially Caleb helping me bustle my dress! Now the food!! Wow, the food was better than when we did the food tasting! I also loved how The Oaks set up a table upstairs for my husband and I to eat after the ceremony before being announced into the reception. We still talk about how good the red beans and rice were! Brides, if you want to make an entrance into your reception, The Oaks is the place to do it with their beautiful staircase!! The flow of our reception went great (thank you Caleb and Dominique). Our DJ, Rusty, was amazing and even threw in a surprise for us, which everyone loved! A lot of words for me to say, in my opinion, The Oaks is hands down the best wedding venue on the Northshore! If we could rate them 10 stars, we would!!

I would not recommend staying at this hotel…read more Upon arrival, the front desk attendant was repeatedly hacking and coughing and appeared visibly ill. It was not the first impression I expected when checking into a hotel. Unfortunately, the room itself was also disappointing. The carpet was dirty, there was an old cough drop and a granola bar underneath the bed, and the air vent blew dust into the room when it turned on. These issues made me question how thoroughly the room had been cleaned before our stay. To make matters worse, there was a wedding taking place at the hotel, and the reception appeared to be directly outside our room. The music was extremely loud and continued until around 9:30 p.m. Traveling with a small child, this made bedtime difficult and significantly impacted our experience. The restaurant experience was equally frustrating. I ordered chicken tenders for my child, but they arrived covered in a spicy buffalo-style sauce, making them inedible for a young child. I charged the meal to my room and only discovered several days later, after requesting an itemized receipt, that a 22% tip charge had been added. I was never informed of this 22% tip charge when ordering. When I called to ask about it, the manager explained that the 22% charge was for room service tip. However, the food was never delivered to my room. I was required to walk to the restaurant and pick it up myself. While I didn't mind retrieving the food, I do mind being charged a substantial tip for a service that wasn't provided. To make matters worse, my hands were full carrying three drinks and a bag of food back to the room, and one of the overfilled drinks spilled along the way. I also spoke directly with the hotel manager regarding the 22% tip charge. I explained that I was never informed ahead of time that this charge would be added and that the food was not actually delivered to my room. Instead, I had to walk to the restaurant and pick it up myself. The manager did not seem concerned that I was being charged what was described as a room service fee without receiving traditional room service. What bothered me most was not just the charge itself, but the lack of transparency and the apparent unwillingness to acknowledge why a guest might find that frustrating. If they had actually delivered the food themself I would have tipped more. The combination of the dirty room, excessive noise, unexpected charges, and poor dining experience made for a very disappointing stay. I would not stay here again and would not recommend either the hotel or the restaurant.
