Dealing with an internet disconnect. What a mess. They won't prorate a disconnect but will prorate a service level change. Seriously. If I upgrade or downgrade, it's prorated. Disconnecting? Nope. I canceled my service and now they are charging me for a full month when I used it for 35 hours into the new cycle. Customer Service said they couldn't do anything about it since the Terms and Conditions stated that. I asked to speak with a supervisor. When the Supervisor came on the line, I was put on hold several times and then finally came back with we can refund you half. Half for 35 hours of service? Customer Service was a joke! read more

Customer service doesn't exist with GCI. Their "manager" is a thief, and a liar. On Friday March 8th 2024, I went into GCI in juneau alaska inquiring about service issues with a prepaid cell for my children. Not only did the "manager" try to SHORT my account 2 months of cell service, he was rude, violent and disrespectful. I pay and have paid for my three cell phone accounts, AND internet IN FULL for the past 3 years, AHEAD of time, so their is currently a $500 credit on my internet, and 4 months of credit on cell service. The manager has decided to send me a email stating i am no longer allowed to do business in ANY of their locations from this point forward. Otherwise they will have me arrested. Um....what? So....cancel my accounts, refund my money, and come collect ur router! Do not, I repeat, do NOT do business with GCI. They are theives. read more

Worst customer service I've ever experienced. Employees are rude and unhelpful. I've called 5+ times about the same issue with my account information, and they always assure me it's fixed but it is not. On top of that, their data caps are completely ludicrous and pure greed. read more

Can we say horrible customer service? They don't have service after buisness hours... most people work until after buisness hours... At least not at 2300 military time, after I just got off of work... And yes, I tried calling at 10:00 pacific time or 2200 military time. New to Juneau and deeply unimpressed with GCI so far. Why do I get transferred (with lengthy, lengthy hold times) to a "specialist" every time for the most basic service questions? When I finally get the representatives on the phone, they collectively sound like they are trapped on another planet with 20 times the gravity of earth. I called to dispute the information GCI released to explain away the channels that we have not had for two months. Worst bait and switch company ever! Had a mid level cable plan and they decided to "help me" by changing it to their most expensive plan. Not one apology, no offer of a credit for the difference. They actually blame me for them changing the plan without my knowledge or consent!!! That is when they get around to responding to my complaints. The few times they did respond they took at least a week to try to contact me...but they say they relentlessly tried to contact me to change the plans. Really bad, recently. Poor sales info, broken equipment, billing errors, service goes down frequently, bad customer service, and none of them know what the other knows. Plus, it is high priced. Options are few, but I am going to try ACS. It cannot be worse than GCI. read more

Poor customer service. Slow spotty internet and cable. They have limited internet usage and going over could cost you hundreds on your regular and already overpriced monthly bill. read more

Auto billing is unreliable. Customer service is disrespectful.

We are paying for the most expensive internet plan and it is still worse than dial up. Unlike the rest of the country, GCI is still limiting our usage and charging large amounts if you go over. Anything you stream on tv, like Netflix or your Tivo recorded shows also use your internet. I recently connected a vacation house in Florida with a $20 a month plan internet provider and it was about 200% faster than GCI. Do your research before you lock into a 2 year plan with this company and go with another provider. read more

The IT support staff is great, but the staff in the office are absolutely horrible. I was there this morning for the 2nd time in 2 days trying to get a dvr that works. When I asked the staff person to plug it in to make sure it worked before I left (problem with that previously) she did the 16 year old eye roll and sigh. She was not 16. Also, the TV Guide has been autopopulating slowly for 5 hours now. Still don't know what's on after 8 tonight. For a service that costs more than $100 a month (no special channels included) one would expect better service. I guess those staff haven't figured out there days are numbered as I'll be cancelling TV all together and paying $30 a month for the combo of Hulu, Netflix and Prime. read more
