Came in for my teeth cleaning today, the ladies in front are always friendly and welcomes me with a big smile. Bruna was my dental hygienist today, she was gentle and detailed. My teeth feels so good! Dr. Fariba was meticulous with my exam. I had a few areas that had baby cavities but good thing, Dr. Fariba said i don't need drilling. ZERO STARS. This office waited over a year to bill me for a visit that should have been covered by my insurance. I appealed with my insurance twice but it was ultimate denied because the statute of limitations had passed. Thanks to the mismanagement and unprofessionalism of this office, I paid my insurance every month but also have to pay out of pocket for the entire bill. Nearly $4,000. Been coming to this dental practice for nearly 10 years, great staff and services. Get your regular teeth cleanings in here, they have the most comfortable chairs that even have a massager! Great to release the tension and distract you from someone poking around in your mouth. Highly professional, friendly and comfortable. Location is super clean and inviting without being off putting. Not your western dental thats for sure. Never had any problems here. If you notice anything off with your fillings or anything just let them know and they will get you in and get it fixed. Dr. Miller must love me. When I first visited him, I had a ton (and I do mean a TON) of dental work to be done. Nearly 2 years later, I am finally almost done with all my work and have Dr. Miller to thank for my great dental health. In terms of skill, Dr. Miller is top notch. All of my fillings/crowns/etc have turned out perfectly. He does seem to be very demanding of his assistants and for a while I would never see the same one twice but that situation seems to have stabilized now. The receptionists are quite simply AWESOME! They really get to know you and understand your situation. The only downside is that the prices are on the high side. I haven't really priced other dentists so it could just be a function of the area where he is located but the work surely isn't cheap. Luckily the receptionists will work closely with you to make sure you know how much it will cost and how much your insurance will cover. Overall, I couldn't ask for anything more in a dentist. If you value your teeth, you'll go see Dr. Miller. read more

Nobody LIKES going to the dentist. Some of us may not mind it, but its no ones favorite place to be. Those are just the facts. And I am one of those people who spend entirely too much time in the dentist chair. I got a jacked grill for sure....Thanks, Dad! But Dr. Miller, somehow, makes it a little less unpleasant. Something about just having him in the room puts me at ease. He's very comforting and I love that he takes the time to explain the process before he begins. No surprises. He's also one of those dentists who are overly passionate about their trade. He gets excited over his work and pats himself on the back for a job well done. I love this about him. He's the pro. If he's giddy over a flawlessly performed root canal, then so am I! He's confident in his work and that makes me feel good. Also, Dr. Miller is really into the latest and greatest methods and technologies. He's really on top of his game and of all the dentists I've seen in my lifetime, I think I love him the most! Update: I did hear back from the office regarding this situation, they apologized, and let me know they have multiple hygienists and I could choose someone else. They did say she had a "firm" personality and that it was perfectly fine to go back to the woman I was seeing before. They were extremely polite about my rant, and I much appreciated them reaching out. Original: I always had the pleasure of dealing with Dr. Peter Rich, who I heard opened a new practice in Poway. I'd definitely continue to see him, if Poway weren't so far from La Jolla. This office is nice, always clean, their front staff and dental assistants are wonderful. I've never worked with Dr. Miller but I'm sure he's great reading reviews. I will say I'm mostly there 2 times a year for a cleaning, and I am NOT a fan of the hygienist. I used to go to a blonde woman but she is no longer there. :( The lady now is the type that tries to be friendly but comes off really condescending. I am VERY anal about my teeth. I spent a TON of money on an electric toothbrush, I floss every day, and I have had no adult problems with plaque or cavities. I go to her twice a year and every time I'm left with that same feeling, just a little put off. I do agree with some of the other comments saying their prices do seem a big higher than other offices as well. I would recommend this office for dental work but not for cleanings. read more

I wish the dentist would spend more than 3 minutes with me (literally 3 minutes, not an exaggeration)... per my 4 stars instead of 5. I love love LOVE this dental practice! Love is kind of an odd word to use in reference to dentistry, but it's totally appropriate here. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted by the nicest people (big shoutout to Heather, Barbara and Elizabeth!) who welcome you with the most beautiful and warm smiles, making you feel right at ease. The whole place is super modern, bright and spacious. All the hygienists are friendly, meticulous and knowledgeable (I love Hannah and Bonnie!) and my dentist, Dr Grinberg, is AMAZING!! I cannot recommend her enough. She's so warm, kind, knowledgeable, competent, explains the procedures in the simplest ways, always attentive, and just generally always so caring. She makes me feel like I'm in great hands!! The assistants are also incredible! Everyone I n there is great!!! Also the dental office is ultra modern with massage chairs and TVs in front and in the ceiling for us to be entertained. I have been coming to this practice pretty much since I moved to San Diego 5 years ago, and I trust them fully with my teeth.! I had a regular teeth cleaning a couple years ago with Dr. Gavin and his team. I was actually extremely impressed when I came! I still remember the fancy decor and everything! I remember thinking that staff was friendly and professional. I was only here once and here is the reason why. I was notified after my visit that I was not part of their network!!! :( I was shocked and called immediately to talk to the receptionist! She said she knew, but she thought I was on the same page too! NOPE! NOT AT ALL! I guess it was my mistake and I should have called my insurance on my own. I ended up having to pay 20% out of packet, but the fact that they are out of network, they are entitle to charge me the price they name. read more

Dr. Miller shares a practice with Brian Judelson. I have been happy but my wife will never go back. Maybe I shouldn't either. My wife had a cavity filled by them some time back and the filling fell out about 6 months later. Rather than agreeing to correct their poor work they demanded that we pay for the new filling. My wife has never been back. Dr. Miller has been my Dentist for the last six years. I've appreciated that I have not been pushed toward a lot of cosmetic work that I really don't want. They do try to milk your insurance company for all they are worth. If you can have X-rays once a year, you will have those X-rays. The hygenists and staff are good and friendly. I've never been scratched up, cut up, or otherwise mishandled. I have never had to wait long after arriving to be seen too and that I really appreciate. read more

By Far the Best Dentist in all the land known as San Diego and dare I say, the entire planet! Hands up if you feel me! Dr. Miller can make a root canal feel like a relaxing walk in Seaport Village on a sunny San Diego afternoon with a slight breeze!! That is no joke. He has the golden Midas touch when it comes to working on teeth. Before going to him, thanks to a great health plan recommendation, I had not seen a dentist in almost 5 years. Prior to that, the only other dentist I had seen consistently was when I was in grade school. Luckily for me, my 5 year absence from the dentist lead to only 1 major cavity that required the aforementioned root canal. Saying I was scared out of my mind is an understatement, but Dr. Miller made it completely painless! He knows what he is doing and his experience shines through. Add on his friendly and good natured character and you have the best Dentist on the Planet, IMO. Extra bonus stars should be awarded for the friendly staff and dental hygienists! They are always extremely pleasant and on point. You get text reminders as well as personal calls from the staff for all appointments so you can never have an excuse for missing out. My teeth and mouth are in "good hands" and its not Allstate. Extra Extra stars awarded for having top of the line technology, including flat screen TVs ON THE CEILING! Heck yeah, that includes all cable channels. You can even watch dental procedures being performed on yourself via flat screen TVs if that's your thing! All dental experiences should be as pleasant, professional, and just damn fun as it is with Dr. Miller's office. Go now and experience all that you have been missing in a dentist and hygienist. I had an amazing first visit at Dr. Miller's office. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Things went SOOO smoothly! Dr. Miller was very nice and gentle, and he seemed extremely knowledgeable (as far as I can judge that at all) and even commented that my previous dentist had done an excellent jobs on my fillings. I would give them a 3 star for the actual quality of treatment but there are other aspects for which I cannot go beyond a 2 star rating. We recently moved to San Diego and me and my wife went for oral exams and regular cleaning which were satisfactory. The reason I decided not to continue with them was that they put of lot of pressure to buy more services from them, a lot of which are not covered by typical dental plans. For example they recommended molars to be removed, ceramic caps, special cleanings and whitening etc. None of which were recommended by my earlier dentist. There charges are also beyond usual and customary that insurance pays. My semi annual exams and cleanings are covered a 100% by my insurance but given the fact that their fees are too high, I had to spend out of pocket for these. read more

I chose Dr. Miller's office a few years ago on a friend's recommendation. I haven't had any major things done - just fillings and regular teeth cleaning. They do offer Invisalign if you want that done. I am thinking about it! I schedule my cleanings 6 months in advance so when it gets close I sometimes forget. Not to worry - if you give them your email address you will get an email about 2 weeks in advance reminding you PLUS it has a way to easily add it to your calendar. Love it. I used to gag all the time during cleanings at the last dentist I went to, but the hygienists at this office are great. I actually kind of look forward to getting my teeth cleaned now. My roommate and her father were seeing Dr. Gavin Miller and since we lived down the street I decided to give it a try. I have been at this office for over a year. I have since moved and still make my way back to this office. I truly feel that everyone there is genuine and wants the best for the patient. A visit to Dr. Miller is always way more pleasant than I expect it to be. A dentist's chair is not my favorite place to be, but thankfully Dr. Miller has always seemed to cure me of that distaste. My recent root canal with him is just one of the many examples of how painless a visit to the dentist can be. Firstly his front office staff is always courteous and friendly and although they do not see me very often, Heather always recognizes me and makes me feel welcome. Paperwork is always effortless and the record keeping is impeccable. Heather always has good advice about how to handle the insurance and payment. Their diligence also extends to appointment keeping. I receive text reminders from the office about my appointments. The office is state of the art, something I feel essential for a dentist, as it has really changed technically over the years. Dr. Miller has kept up and maybe is even ahead of the curve with his knowledge and ability. But the thing that is most important and what I rely on entirely is Dr. Miller himself. His calming nature, years of experience and incredible knowledge of his field is the thing that makes me feel most comfortable and keeps me coming back. He always takes the time to explain exactly what needs to be done. I never feel like he is making stuff up or doing unnecessary work, something you hear time and time again about other dentists. I visited Dr. Gavin for an initial consultation for some cosmetic work. Dr. Gavin briefly looked at my teeth and made a recommendation for treatment (veneers on my 4 upper teeth). While he was very nice and professional, I was taken aback by his front office team and consultation policy. I was charged a $90 consultation fee for the doctor looking at my teeth and recommending treatment (I saw the Doctor for no more than 6..7 minutes). I have visited 4 other dentists inquiring about this cosmetic procedure as I want to pick one I feel comfortable with and none of them have charged for the initial consultation. I did question the front office lady about this and her reply was "well we charge". She did say they would discount it from my treatment plan if I move forward with the procedure. I wish they would have told me about this when I first made the appointment. I will not be proceeding with this office due to their nickel and diming on consultations that are typically complimentary at other practices. read more
