While on one of our many trips to Edwardsville to hang out with our college friends, they casually recommended we try out Annie's for some sweets and delights. Next thing I knew, we were hopping in a car with our hangovers and hitting the road. Annie's, from what I remember, is like any other town's ice cream shack that is open year round. They offer your quick but yummy food options, such as: hot dogs, custard, sundaes, pie, and various other sweets. During our visit, we all snagged a few small things. Nursing some hangovers, we all gravitated towards the greasy offerings versus the cold stuff. Chili dogs were what we picked and snacked on, except for the one friend who was feeling 110%. She got some ice cream to go. The chili dog was decent but nothing to write home about. It definitely hit the spot. As for the interior, I don't remember much about it. The little that I do recall doesn't strike me as overly impressive but also not lacking. There were tables to sit at and ample room should it be busy during the summer hours. I wish I could have more to put in this blog post but since this was the only time we came here and it was after a fun night, this is all about it. Also, sadly, my friends have moved away from Edwardsville, but that doesn't mean I won't try to swing by it again on my way to St. Louis some day. If and when I do, I will try to update this post to reflect new photos and experiences.

There is no specific handicapped space, and the area is paved but uneven. Walking in, you are greeted by several friendly servers. Most are younger but seem to be well trained and efficient. It is obviously a small town ice cream shop as many customers knew the workers. Still, the workers did not ignore other customers while talking to friends and family, so the entire vibe was friendly and inviting. There is a good selection of ice cream and various options. The business has gone through several owners since its formation, and the newest owners have made a significant update to the decor. Based on our experience, we expect this to be a required stop every time we are in town.

Their booth under a little canopy provided all us eclipse watchers, with sweet treats. They had cookies and a special, Moon Pie Concrete. I didn't try the cookies, but I enjoyed my concrete. I was surprised that they were able to still create a tasty sweet treat away from their brick and mortar. The Moon Pie Concrete, which is a great name for a eclipse special. It was made with banana custard, chocolate hardshell and pieces of Moon pie. Simply said, it was yummy. I've never been a fan of Moon Pies, but this concrete won me over. The staff was friendly and kept their line moving and trust me, they had a line for the majority of the day. Now I just need to get myself to their main location and have a true experience.

Keep your eye out for Imo's pizzeria because it's connected to it. The shop is spacious enough for a good size crowd. There is also a very large patio for outdoor seating and mingling. I would have figured there would be speakers posted for some light music. Patrons can enjoy the music of nature. STAFF: As soon as we entered, we were casually greeted by two ice cream shop workers. The cashier was able to easily answer my questions about the uniquely named flavors i.e. Bride of Frankenstein and Superman. It took only a few minutes for our ice cream to be served. FOOD: The wife and I ordered two small cups. She did the lemon bite with waffle pieces and strawberries. A perfect combination. The strawberries aren't loose and chopped, but a jelly.
