My family is originally from Tulsa. I moved my dad to live with me when he got sick, so we haven't been in town for a while. I had heard about the Gathering Place, and it's truly a gem for the city of Tulsa. I can't help but feel jealous of this park! If I lived in Tulsa, I would visit it daily. It's beautiful, peaceful, and fun. I wish more cities would invest in places like this. It's definitely worth spending an hour or even a full day in such a lovely setting.

This is such an amazing place! There's so much to do for everyone of any age. The kids will love the different playgrounds, the zip line, and seeing the ducks and fish in the pond. Adults will like the numerous chairs available to sit down and relax. The Cafe in The Lodge or the little restaurant in the patio area are both great when you need something to eat or drink. The only issue may be parking if it's a really nice day. If so, just be prepared to walk a little ways since you may have to park a little further away.

Gathering Place is a 100 acres park created to be a gathering space for recreational, civic, and cultural activities for all walks of life. Since its opening on September 2018, it has been voted USA Today's Best City Park in 2021 and Best New Attraction in 2019. Before Gathering Place, recommending an attraction to visit in Tulsa was difficult. Since its inception, it's my number one destination to visit when visiting Tulsa. At the center, the park is a gathering place for many attractions including gardens, picnic areas, playgrounds, skate parks, sports courts, boathouse, and cafes. It is the epicenter of the annual Global Gatherings World Festival. Dining options include Redbud Cafe, The Patio, and Vista at the Boathouse which only opens on special occasions. Every visit to the Gathering Place for me has been nothing but exceptional. Each visit has felt like a new experience and I've discovered something new each time. The park transforms with each season, from lush greeneries in the early summer to serene wonderland in the winter. I cannot compliment enough about the architectural designs of the park by the Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates. The brick wall maze is my favorite. It's truly "a park like none other" just like what it was intended to be.

I spent a sun-dappled Wednesday at The Gathering Place in Tulsa, and wow--what a day it was. It's the kind of park where excitement and serenity coexist in perfect harmony. As I wandered down winding paths lined with sculptural gardens and gentle river views, a sense of calm washed over me. Every bend revealed something new: a hidden seating nook with perfect morning light, a colorful patch of wildflowers buzzing with bees Then came the explosion of energy: the Chapman Adventure Playground. It's a 5-acre wonderland of timber towers and slides shaped like birds' wings--kids dart through tunnels, clamber up ropes, and squeal with delighted abandon--it's a childhood dream brought to life .

An amazing space to bring the kiddos! There's so many attractions. This is the best idea I've seen for utilizing tribal land. I want to say this is the most epic park I have seen. You could come here everyday and have a different experience. My grandchildren played themselves out. The different areas had age ranges for safety. Majority of the ground surface is soft even if it looks hard. I was even able to do a bunch of the activities with them. There were so many cubby holes of places to set up for a picnic, event, serene places to relax, little quiet areas. The park is free and open to the public. This is a must visit any time I'm in Tulsa.

First time coming to the park qhile we were visiting family for Thanksgiving and it was an amazing and breathtaking experience! The park itself was beautiful and very well maintained and there was so many different things to see and do. My daughter loved the children's area and there was so much for her to play on and many diffrent things to climb and explore. We went fairly early in the morning and it was not to busy or crowded but as the day went on it started to get more crowded. My daughter cant wait to go back to this park when we visit!

What an amazing park! Hard to believe a place like this exists. Go see it for yourself We got rained out the whole time we were there and still had a blast. Epic kids castle, coy fish, restaurants, trails, no admission??? No idea how someone could rate a free park that's this clean and fun any lower

It is Free!!! There is snacks stands to purchase drinks and food!!! You can feed the Koi Fish!!! There is plenty things for the littles to climb or swing!!! You can hang out and work if you need to!!! Highly recommend going if you are in Tulsa!!

Park is great, food is eh. Bought a Chicharron pulled pork burrito bowl thinking I was going to get actual fried pork belly...what I got was fried pork skins. Presentation looked decent but lacked flavor. For the price, it definitely can be better.

The place is truly exceptional. You could spend all day here and never be bored. The grounds are well appointed, the restrooms are clean, and there's truly something for everyone. This is one place I would love to live near.

One of my favorite parks! I've lost count of how many times I've been here. Whether you want to come here to get your steps in or just get some work done, it's perfect for everyone. I come here mostly to sit by the water and watch the fish. But, I've also come here to read and do work. This place always grounds me.

"Should I move to Tulsa," I thought to myself walking through Gathering Place on a recent work trip from Washington, D.C. As a father of a seven-year-old, Gathering Place is a dream! It's a spacious public park with lots of corners to explore and what seems like an endless adventure playground with rope courses, a zipline, a banana-themed slide, and more. There's also plenty for adults like walking trails, enjoying the gardens, or exploring the Cabinet of Wonder, a collection of things from mainly Oklahoma. Entrance is free and there's plenty of parking.

Ask the Community - Gathering Place

Is there food or a zoo?

There is no zoo at the park. There are three restaurants: a sit-down spot, an express cafe with a limited menu, and a sweet treats shop.

    Is it bike friendly?

Very much so! There are designated bike lanes on the main walking trail.

Are there nets for volleyball? (Update: there are volleyball nets on the basketball courts)

I did not see any in the main part of the park but on the riverside area there was a basketball court, so it is possible that there may be some!

What is most fun for teenagers?

Kayak, paddle boats and canoes are free but sometimes there is a line! My group loved this and big slides and rope treehouse!

Are the outdoor areas leashes Dog friendly?

Unfortunately, pets are only allowed on the Midland Valley and riverfront trails. They do have designated days that pets are allowed but you have to check the site to see when they post them.

Is there a sand volleyball court?

I did not see one. But the playgrounds mostly have sand.

Is there a dog park? Or are there dogs allowed?

There is no dog park within the grounds. Certain days (Wednesday's I believe) are dog friendly. If you are walking along the main path around the grounds, they don't seem to mind, but if getting close to some of the play areas, the staff will… Read more

There's no playground area or super large/ significant grassy areas to spread out for typical park activities, so it really is mostly for walking around. The main focus, then, is the fountain and pond. Then it's kind of little paths going around it. I really like how there are different levels, so you can be down closer to the pond or higher up. I also think it makes it that much more visually appealing. The paths and levels are made out of large brown stones which I think looks good. There's also some plants around - I think they are called cats tails? Don't quote me on that haha. There are a good amount of benches for sitting spread through the perimeter of the pond. There's also a deck sort of area nearer to the fountain. It looks nice, but could DEFINITELY use a clean up. There was quite a bit of trash, particularly near/ caught in the deck part. It wasn't a completely disgusting amount, but definitely noticeable. To be fair, while I was walking around a didn't see a SINGLE trash can. How can it stay clean when trash cans aren't provided?! This is the main reason for not being 5 stars. If it were cleaned up and then added some trash cans to prevent it getting so trashy again in the future, it'd be great! I saved my favorite thing for last: the view!!! The entire Tulsa skyline isn't visible, but you can see part of it, plus a highway bridge, which is a really cool backdrop in my opinion. Overall it's also cool that there's this semi-tucked away park (though not really the super grassy open kind as mentioned) in a more downtown/ urban area. In fact, it's just a walk across the street to some coffee shops, restaurants, etc.
