ESPRESSO - COMMON GROUNDS "DAY BREAK"
Daren R.

An interesting two business collaboration between the Lovelee Bakeshop and the Gathering Grounds Coffee Co. Thirteenth Street is under extreme remodeling and the growth of small businesses are popping up between Andrews Ave and US1. Gathering Grounds recently found a new home within the Lovelee Bakeshop offering homemade cakes. Free parking next to the building. Met with the sole barista who explained the dual business concept. The menu for the cafe has staggering low prices for espresso and lattes. Every Saturday the Lovelee Bakeshop offers a cinnamon bun special to complement a Gathering Grounds coffee and is the hot item at $5.00 which sells out quickly. Ordered the single shot espresso of Common Grounds Day Break blend for only $2.00. A small couch and wicker chairs are available to sit and sip your coffee or two white metal tables with blue umbrella shade are on the outside sidewalk. The roasted almond scent was inspiring with a bold taste. They offer the same coffee grinds in bags to go including some logo caps. The single room gender neutral bathroom was clean with wood panels flooring accented by peach painted walls. Funny framed sayings are posted on the wall to read and chuckle with examples as "Ready, Aim, Fire" or "Hello Sweet Cheeks".

I work nearby, so I just strolled in during my lunch break for a little midday pick-me-up. The staff is pleasant and helpful. My only suggestion is to perhaps have an allergens list for the individual baked goods. I tried to ask the staff about whether some of the treats contained nuts (in particular, the s'mores bar, and the chocolate chip cookie) as I have a peanut allergy (tree nuts are okay). There was a bit of a language barrier and the staff seemed unsure, and tried to err on the side of caution (which I appreciate). However, knowing that a s'mores bar or a chocolate chip cookie is unlikely to contain actual peanuts, I was a little frustrated because it would have been okay for me personally if it was simply that the baked goods were "processed in a factory that manufactures peanut products". Those trace amounts normally don't affect me. I feel like this was likely the case, but again, I'm glad that they just proceeded with an abundance of caution. I settled for a cheese danish even though I was really after a chocolate craving. Good on the staff for being cautious, disappointing for me that I couldn't cater to my chocolate craving. Oh well. I also ordered a Get Green smoothie, which was refreshing and delicious. The coconut water makes it super hydrating. Whether you're staying at the Del Mar hotel or just work nearby and want a little treat, this spot is a great place to stop in.

The intentions of the owner's was surely to provide a chill ambiance to their thirsty customers…read morewith a tropical oasis theme flowing throughout the cafe into the bathroom. The cafe is only two months old in the Cypress Creek Station shooping plaza, but heard the chatter on social media and had to drive a slight distance to also be part of the experience. A temporary simplistic Drip Coffee sign is affixed to the exterior of the business. Upon entering, the buzz of this cafe was accurate. The establishment spewed an ultra industrial modern intimate vibe with gray polished stone flooring with an open ceiling exposing the metal rafters and a/c tubing, accented by dark green ferns on the walls and tables. The laughter from five girls at a back table echoed throughout the cafe, which was a good start. The barista was chatty and all smiles while she took my order quickly with no hiccups. The Guatemalan dark roast espresso beans are sourced from PumpHouse Coffee in WPB. It was presented in a mini cup with the Drip Coffee logo imprint - this is such a simple inexpensive marketing tool that most cafes do not take advantage of. This is another cafe with a cashless tranaction process. Understandably, tipping is digital, but at the least there should be a tip jar as an option for cash. Found sanctuary at a table with a semi comfortable low stool. The Guatemalan coffee was strong and cut it with a shot of heavy cream. Usually I consume medium roast coffee, although this mimicked a few strong Austrian blends and was sublime and appreciated. The gender neutral bathroom screamed "WoW Impressive"! Instantly I pondered, the owners took their artistic vision to another level. Spotless, spotless, spotless, more greenery with thin wooden slats covering the ceiling and the low lit led hollow rough rock mirror hovered above the gray square deep sink. Washing my hands were more of a delight than a necessity. "Clean Bathroom = Clean Kitchen". No doubt that I will return to this eatery. Great coffee and a wonderful experience.

When we ordered they were mainly doing social media content with out drink orders, so basically we waited 15-20 minutes for the coffee.. The place looked was beautiful and aesthetically pleasing!
