I learned a friend of mine I'd grown up with, who also now lives out of state, had flown in because his mother was in the hospital in NSB. As a touch of comfort, I wanted to get him something that felt like "home," and I called Dolly's Gift Shop for help. Jamie had just opened the store that morning, and she wove in time to send me many photos of things she thought might be a nice token. She was so wonderful with her time, her ideas, and she even wrapped it up and coordinated with my local family member who came by to get the gift. Above and beyond. I hope all who visit Flagler Ave. will stop in and shop!

My mom and I stopped by this shop after a doctor's appointment, hoping to finally check it out…read moresince it's rarely open despite being in the neighborhood for decades. The elderly mother of the current owner was watching the store and kindly chatted with us about the shop's history and how she had sold the business to her daughter. Right in the middle of our conversation, the daughter/owner came out and started loudly yelling at her mother right in front of us, complaining that customers didn't want to hear her stories, that no one was buying anything, and that the shop wasn't a place just to chat. It was completely uncalled for and deeply unprofessional. I actually had a few pieces of jewelry in my hand that I intended to buy, but I put them back and walked out. Treating your own mother--who was just being polite to customers--like that in public is appalling. Zero stars if I could. As a bonus warning, none of the items have price tags, so the owner seemingly just makes up prices on the spot when you ask.
