I had been struggling for four months to get a cert from my vet ( even though they told me they would give me one when I put my dog down back in December) The Vets, Urban animal hospital in Vancouver keep giving me the ring around and It was impossible to get a cert as I live in Toronto and was trying to bring my baby home, Finally I called Gateway Pet memorial to then spoke to the sweetest human called Emillie, She was so lovely, apologized for everything that had happened and fixed what felt like an on going battle in a matter of minutes. Our beloved dog passed with private home euthanasia service by our veterinarian in February 2022... as 3 times before we contacted Until We Meet Again to arrange service for private cremation... but it was 1st time after company was sold to new owner in Surrey. This time UWME tried to charge us $1000 for private cremation of our beloved dog (35kg)... For this price you can cremate 500kg horse!!! I was in disbelieve and shock! how owners of this important service can be so heartless. I still can't believe in this, it took me over year to be able to write about what happened. Shame on you UntilWeMeetAgain owner - you prey on people in the most vulnerable and sensitive time, it just shows you are only about money, nothing else. They're really nice on the phone and when they bring your pet's remains home to you BUT the price has doubled since I used their services in 2020 to now, 2023. Why double??? From $80 for a paw print in ceramic to $175! Cremation has gone from $192.50 to $385, for a cat!! I couldn't get the paw print, as much as I loved my cat, I just couldn't justify the new price. Losing our little guy was devastating and I think I was probably pretty hard to deal with (special requests, etc.) I don't remember the woman I spoke to on the phone (Vancouver office) but she was the kindest person. It made everything so so much easier. She assured me that I wasn't being trouble and kept me posted about where our guy was and that he was being treated with the utmost respect. Losing a member of your family is so hard. I can't imagine dealing with a bad company and not feeling confident that they're being respected through it. Its been a few months since i used Until We Meet Again's services but I really feel like i must leave a review, otherwise I would be doing a great disservice to this company and the Lower Mainland's grieving pet owners. I got my dog, Bolt , in 2008 from West Coast Rottweiler Rescue. He was an adult that had been living in a feral pack in Abbotsford. He was picked up when someone noticed he had been shot with a shotgun in the back of his head. WCRR picked him up from SPCA, he had surgery and went to his first foster home to recover. 3 weeks later i was his 5th foster home because he was crazy. To make a long story short... me and Bolt saved each other and had almost 10 years together. We did everything together throughout that time. On a hot Sunday last July he passed away quickly. I was devastated to the point of being broken. And through the gut punch of grief, i had to find somewhere to deal with the body of my 110lb loved one during the hottest time of the year. Until We Meet Again went above and beyond on that awful day. They took my boy right away. They gently gave me my list of options. They asked questions about him, who he was, what he was like... and they were genuinely interested. On my worst day, they were kind, compassionate, professional...i really can't say enough about how wonderful they were. I would love to give accolades to the kind man and young woman who helped me. I know they told me their names but i was hurting too much that day to absorb new information. I hope they read this and know that they gave a woman with a broken heart the greatest gift possible. They took care of the details and allowed me and my family to mourn. I wholeheartedly recommend U.W.M.A. to anyone who has gone through the heartbreak of losing a beloved fur friend. I was very distressed in 2013. I lost my soul dog at 15 yrs old. He was my everything. Until we meet again handled his remains with the utmost respect. I couldn't have had better. Later on I lost another dog. Same flawless service. Now I lost my little guy to cancer on Saturday I was really upset so a friend called for me. She called and was treated not too great. They were supposed to call me Monday at 9am.i waited until 1030 I called. I asked about bringing him in. I asked about pick up service the cost and then charges for cremation. It was rather high. I asked if I drop him off what the charges would be I was quoted 175.00 including urn. So I took my boy there yesterday. She asked me questions and then brought a bill for $320.00. I'm looking in shock. I said you quoted me 175.00. her response was our prices went up. So the price went up to almost double in 4 hours nice eh. Prey on your emotions and swoop in like vultures. I didn't have much of a choice because this business is far from where Iive. I didn't know of any other service centers for this so I paid it reluctantly. I'm so burned that this will be the last time I use their service and Ill never recommend them ever again read more

I got my elderly cat cremated after she was put to sleep. The vet I had her euthanized at uses them. I paid extra for private cremation and was pleased when I picked up her ashes. They were in an urn wrapped in tissue paper, with a brochure on pet loss and a card. I looked the company up online and saw that they were in an article about memorial centers giving people who'd paid for private cremations ashes of other random pets. But UWMA was one of the honest ones who passed the test. My other pets and I hope we don't have to use their service again for a while, but pleased with having something to remember old Hannah cat by. This was the second time we used UWMA services; the first time was 2 and a half years ago. Both times, the staff were excellent in assisting us in finding a suitable memorial. They were compassionate and caring; genuine animal lovers. A significant negative for us was the excessive price increases between the two pet deaths, 2 and a half years apart. Cremation Services- 31.66% increase Spawts pottery piece/easel- 105% increase Marble urn- 150% increase Total cost- 68.54% or $213.50 increase We felt this was quite unreasonable and we believe the recent acquisition of UWMA by Gateway Pet Memorial, a North American corporate pet cremation & memorial business, resulted in these significant price increases. We really want to believe the new owner was not taking advantage of a highly emotional time to to support their profit number. Local staff advised the Regional Sales Manager would contact us later in the week of May 21st. It is June 7th and we have not heard from Gateway. read more

Very upset that our beloved pet was mixed up with some other deceased pet. How do we know? The paw print was 100% not our pet. The representative I first spoke to, who ""did not feel comfortable talking about it". The company website states a strict practise in a code of ethics, and trust is your headliner, but your Rep doesn't feel comfortable talking about it? A business cannot be trustworthy if it's not transparent. I would recommend going elsewhere. Save yourself the risk of such a devastating error and no ability to make right. No refund was offered either, which wouldn't matter, what's done was done, but a descent business, practising good customer service and following a code of ethics, likely would have offered, unless....of course, this happens on a regular basis. can't keep a business afloat, if refunds are commonplace I suspect. I have nothing but good things to say about this place. The staff who helped me, a young blonde woman, was so kind and professional. She allowed me time alone with my cat after he had been put on the trolley. The space was like a funeral home for humans, nicely decorated with curtains, and shelves with urns and memorabilia. The prices go from $90 for a communal ceremony, where the pet cremated with other animals and the ashes are not returned but scattered on a farm to $200 for a private ceremony. read more

Hello, I would like to share my story about how "Until We Meet Again Pet Memorial Center Inc." located at 839 W 1st Street #4, North Vancouver, BC. Did not obey my wishes and memorial services for my cat Mila. My cat Mila was a loving member of my family for 16.7 years. She passed away on September 11th 2016 at 1:45 pm at home with family. I called "Until We Meet Again" for cremation services as my Animal Hospital assured me and family of their loyalty and care to all pets who passed away. We booked an appointment with Scott - representing the "Family Care Dept." with Until We Meet Again Pet Memorial Center. I communicated and stated my after care plans for Mila that consisted of: last fare well and witness attendance for private cremation for Sept 15th at 9 am. Scott confirmed the appointment and my detailed after care plans for Mila then provided information of the services and assured me that our memorial after care plans & family wishes will be adhered to. On Thursday morning me and my family arrived at Until We Meet Again at 8:30 am and waited till they opened at 9:00 am. When open, we checked in and Scott was not there, shortly after this we were approached be a staff member and owner of "Until We Meet Again" and was told that my Mila was cremated the day before on Wednesday the 14th around 2 pm. My family and I were devastated and my mom couldn't even speak because she was so emotionally upset and in tears, we all could not believe what they have done and the negligence's! They couldn't even explain why our wishes were not followed! I said we had an appointment and confirmed detailed memorial service! Who gave you permission to do that?! You have no rights to do that! They brought Mila's urn of ashes, and just said sorry. Excuse me?! Sorry?! Again I stated - Who even gave you permission to do that?! It's not a thing or whatever! Mila was a member of our family! Scott was still not at work when he was supposed to be there at 9:00 am to great us and manage Mila's memorial service. We had to request that Scott be contacted to come in to work immediately. We waited for Scott until he finally came in at noon "12:00 pm" and all Scott did was provide us with an apology stating this has never happened before. Until We Meet Again reimbursed our memorial service cost but this does NOT change what they have done! Blatant and unprofessional disregard in adhering to the planned memorial service for my Mila and taking away our wishes to say our final fare well and cremation witness attendance. They took my Mila and family for granted Scott, if you read this comment like I've said to you that I will post it, cause I want other pet owners be aware that we did not receive 5 star service like everyone is positing it: "you can apologize and keep apologizing as much as you want to, or maybe you don't care at all, as you've shown to my Mila and family. When I sensed that the end was near, I did some online research and emailed to get information. UWMA was very helpful and so the NEXT day, after my cat died in my arms, I knew where to take her. It may be hard to get someone on the phone but they are very quick to respond to your emails. Eve took us into a little room and was patient in answering my questions and providing options. I didn't know whether to have a witness service so they offered to hold my appointment until I decided. There was no pressure. When I returned for my baby girl, I also brought my dog's ashes as they said that they could transfer him to a pouch. When I had him cremated 10 years ago in NY, I was told that there may be some bone fragments so I've been reluctant to do the transfer myself. The lady (Cheryl? Shareen? Sorry I can't remember but she was very nice) came back with this blue velvet bag (my cat was returned in a mesh pouch) and held on to it instead of giving it to me, I knew something was wrong. She explained that there were more bone fragments, although not recognizable, if it were her dog, she wouldn't want to look at it. I had explained earlier how I wanted to make a pouch and knit a sleeve for them so I would have had to take the plastic bag out. She then said that they could "process" him so the ashes would be very fine like my cat's but I would need to come back to pick him up. In less than 5 mins, she returned and my dog's ashes were returned in a mesh pouch. They did it then and did it for free. They were very professional, patient and considerate. I would highly recommend them. If you do some research, you will find that they passed the Steele On Your Side test where they sent sausages packed into stuff toys (frozen so you can't tell) to various cremation facilities and some came back with bones/ashes. read more

Considering the unusualness of our pet (a toad), we were really impressed with the professional service and consideration given to us as well as the dignity given to our beloved deceased pet. Granted this type of service is geared more towards the larger and more common members of the pet kingdom, but our toad was afforded the exact same respect as would someone with a dog or a cat, etc. Under the circumstances of losing our beloved little toad, dealing with Until We Meet Again was the best decision we could have made. This company was so genuinely compassionate and caring. Our vet uses them, and when we had to say goodbye to our little cat, we were provided with a grief booklet and information about a pet loss support group (which we did attend, and wow - what a healing space that was). It was so comforting. I spent so much time reading the information on their website and being truly comforted by the business that these folks run, and the way they run it. I couldn't be happier that these people are doing the business they are - truly spectacular. Saying goodbye to our little family members is never easy, but I'm so glad to have found this place as a partner in that time. They really care, and that really shows. read more
