Urn done for our cat Øli.

Losing our little guy was devastating and I think I was probably pretty hard to deal with (special requests, etc.) I don't remember the woman I spoke to on the phone (Vancouver office) but she was the kindest person. It made everything so so much easier. She assured me that I wasn't being trouble and kept me posted about where our guy was and that he was being treated with the utmost respect. Losing a member of your family is so hard. I can't imagine dealing with a bad company and not feeling confident that they're being respected through it. I didn't feel that for a second with Until We Meet Again. THANK YOU.

Nobody called me in over a week. I finally picked up the box urn and left. I was an hour outside of home (Vancouver) and didn't want to wait to see the urn, so I went to a cafe and took it out from the nicely wrapped bag. I was horrified at what I saw. First, the urn was ridiculously oversized for a 3lb cat. Second, the engraving was crooked. Third, there were ugly flecks of gold paint all over the top. Finally, my last name was spelled incorrectly on the certificate. I was speechless and in tears. And because they had screwed the box closed, I couldn't even take the ashes out of the ugly urn. I returned the same evening asked for a refund. I wanted to take my kitty home, which was still an hour's drive back. They apologized, confirmed with the manager, and said the refund would be processed the next day. It was not processed the next day. In fact, I never heard from anyone. On the fifth day of waiting, I emailed them, demanding my refund the next day. I received the refund. But that wasn't the end. I stupidly took the manager's offer for a replacement urn. At the time of writing, it's three days late, and I'm too tired to write about the rest of the story. This is just a mere representation of my mental and emotional exhaustion and distress dealing with Pets Furever during a time of immense loss and grief.

It's been almost three years since my Simon passed away (I still miss him a lot), and my husband…read morelooooooves cats, so we decided to adopt a cat, specifically an older cat, as kittens, while adorable, are a little high energy and high maintenance for us. We were planning on adopting a cat sometime this summer, when last week, I found out that the SPCA is reducing the adoption fees on older cats (not kittens) by 50% between May 25th and May 31st. So while we weren't planning on adopting a cat just yet, we decided to take advantage of the promotion this weekend -- it was the puuuurrrrfect opportunity! We had looked at the website ahead of time, and there were some cats that we were interested in, based on their description and appearance, but you really have to meet the cat before making a decision. At the SPCA, there were a couple that we liked (neither of which we had considered from the website), and in the end, we chose the oldest cat there, at ten years old. (According to his backstory, he was surrendered because a child in the family was allergic -- so sad that after ten years he was given away.) Not only is he old, but he's also really fat, at nearly 20 lbs! But he's a lovely cat, very friendly and affectionate, although a little shy. (So far, he's spent the majority of his time hiding under the couch or bed, but he purrs a lot and likes being pet, and he has come out a few times for cuddles.) While my husband and I had been discussing adopting a cat, and from where (SPCA, VOKRA, Cat Therapy & Rescue, etc), I was worried that it would be a huge hassle and that we would be rejected for some ridiculous reason. (VOKRA and Cat Therapy & Rescue seem a little intense -- I understand wanting to make sure that a cat goes to a good home, but good grief! Their rules and requirements are ridiculous!) However, we had no issues at all with the adoption at the SPCA. Once we decided on a cat, we filled out an application, a staff member asked us a few reasonable questions, as well as patiently answered all our questions about the cat, and it was done -- we had a kitty to take home! The cat's name was Seth Rogen, a name we hate (I don't even care for the actor), but it's wrong to change a cat's name when he's so old, so we tried calling him Seth. But the name just doesn't fit, and in the end, I'm calling him Beau, after Beau Nugget, an extremely obese cat whose weight loss journey can be watched on YouTube.

This breeder is a gift from G-d! I have had 5 deeply loved dogs over the years bred by Kristy…read more I met Kristy many years ago when I took my beloved Shih Tzu Daisy to her for grooming. BTW...She was and still is the absolute best small breed groomer in the Lower Mainland. Anyways, at the time we met back in the early 90's, she was just starting out as a Yorkie Breeder, and her goal was to be among the best Yorkshire Terrier show quality Breeders in North America. She researched tirelessly, she did everything right in terms of being a bonafide Breeder, (not a backyard Breeder) and went to extreme financial lengths, and still does, to show her dogs in the best shows all over the world. Only a Breeder of Champions can develop a reputation as a serious champion show Breeder of exceptional quality dogs among other show Breeders, and the dog show world is extremely difficult to penetrate in terms of being taken seriously and regarded as a credible show breeder. It takes years and years of dedication, effort, incredible hard work and extreme amounts of money. However, Kristy understood that without that reputation and acceptance, she would be nothing more than a backyard breeder, and that was out of the question. She maintained a busy grooming business 7 days a week, in order to fund her HUGE expenses, which include outrageously high veterinary bills, show expenses, handler costs, supplies etc etc., and on top of that, she regularly rescues dogs from bad breeders, most with serious genetic health issues. So, for those who balk at the high cost of a show quality puppy, and think that all Breeders are "in it for the money", WRONG! A backyard Breeder is in it for the money, Kristy is in it for the love, dedication, devotion and preservation of the breeds she is involved with. You know, many small dog breeds need cesarian sections to give birth, and the cost of that is outrageous! A simple spay costs $1500 now, so trust me, the $4,000 price for a show quality Yorkie, for example may sound high to those who don't understand the true cost of quality breeding, but after all the vet checks, shots, Stud fees, supplies, CKC admin costs, (papers etc.) trust me, the profit margin is borderline "loss" when all is said and done. All of Kristy's puppies are well cared for in her home, and are even paper trained before leaving. I leave you with this...Without people like Kristy, those breeds would be extinct due to genetic damage and pain and suffering caused by backyard breeders.

*WARNING - BEFORE PUTTING IN A DEPOSIT WITH KRISTY FOR A PUPPY.*…read more She insists on a nonrefundable $500 deposit, and she means it under *ALL* circumstances. We waited 6 months on her waiting list, only to find out that 2 litters of puppies had died! Due to the highly unusual circumstance, and some doubts about the health of the dogs, we asked for our deposit back. She refused and told us to wait for the next litter (which would have been 9 months). We didn't even know how many puppies died under her supervision, or how they died! We decided she was unreliable, since we could not be sure the next litter would even survive. We searched for other breeders and even got a puppy from one, Kristy still refused to give us the $500 back. She is also difficult to communicate with, and said I was "threatening" and "blackmailing" her for saying I was going to write a negative review. She will probably reply to this review trying to play the victim, even though she's the one who's $500 richer. Save your time and money, she's not worth the stress, there are plenty of reliable breeders out there who will refund your deposit if anything happens to the puppy that they are selling you.
