She seemed to be pretty convinced about the prior diagnosis and was just focused on the computer screen to complete her forms/tasks. We were highly disappointed. Previously, Nicole assisted me in scheduling an appointment and was also attempting to schedule one for my son. She needed clarification regarding his insurance and placed me on hold. Unfortunately, I remained on hold for approximately 45 minutes, and she never returned to the call. When I attempted to call back, I was unable to reach anyone in the office. Today, April 29 at 1:30 PM, I came in for my scheduled appointment. Upon arrival, I asked the receptionist if I could speak with Nicole and briefly explained what had happened. While completing my intake forms, I overheard the receptionist inform Nicole that I was at the front desk. However, Nicole did not come out to speak with me or acknowledge the situation. I did not receive an apology or any follow-up regarding the previous incident. I want to be clear that I understand that miscommunications and busy moments can happen. However, being left on hold for that length of time without a return call, followed by no acknowledgment when I was physically present in the office, was disappointing. Customer service and communication are extremely important to me, both personally and professionally, and I believe they are essential in a patient care setting as well. I would have appreciated a brief conversation or simple apology to address the situation. That level of courtesy goes a long way. I do want to note that my visit with Destiny today was excellent, and my previous visit with you in November was also very positive. My concern is specifically related to this experience. In follow-up care, the physician pushed lifelong medication, and when I hesitated, he responded with, "How would you like to process, Mrs.?" -- a comment I found dismissive and insensitive. What made this experience even worse was the way the office is run. Each doctor has a secretary, and no other secretary can help only the one your ASSIGNED to. The staff is consistently rude, rushed, and VERY difficult to reach. Just count on NEVER getting anyone on the phone. I called daily for nearly two weeks before ever reaching a live person. Their Klara text system is unreliable, often taking two days or more for any response. I attempted to cancel an appointment but no one answered the phone, despite multiple attempts. Instead of acknowledging their lack of responsiveness, they marked me as a "no-show" and refused to remove the charge. This office demonstrated a complete lack of compassion, professionalism, and basic patient care. It has been the most frustrating medical experience I have had, needless to say I am not with Gastro Center of Maryland who are very communicative and kind.
