Peter's Brauhaus is often described as a beer hall, but it is so much more than that. Once we entered, we were ushered into the bar, so that we could drink a local beer while we waited for a table. This gave us time to also take in the rustic wood construction of the interior, and enjoy the delicious aromas wafting from the kitchen. Seating is family style, but they also have a few tables for two. The food is hearty traditional German fare, you won't need a second meal that day. This is certainly a must do in Koln, to have an authentic meal in a historic brauhaus.

We decided to sit outside, but because it started to drizzle, we went inside. We paid for our drinks outside and brought them in with us. The waiter was not friendly. Asked if we had paid for our drinks, I said we paid outside. I'm not sure if he believed me. When he finally came to take our drinks outside order, he seemed irritated with us. We got our drinks and order our meals. Our meals arrived very quickly and everything was wonderful. However, upon closing our bill, the waiter got very angry with me saying something about good service and no tip. We are literally in Germany where you don't tip. The best aspects of this bar is the decor, a lot of locals so you feel immersed in small town Germany culture. The local beer gaffel kolsch is pretty much the go to beer and is delightfully fresh light and the right amount of malt/hops ratio. This is a special brew local to cologne so try it out. Unfortunately I can't add stars because this place didn't produce the brew. So food.... I'm just going to say it is subpar to standard pub fare and would not come back unless I was a drunk mess.
