REVIEW OF GASPAR's DELI 4402 25th Ave. We came here on a recommendation from another member in this group. Like the other delis we visited Gaspar's is unremarkable from the street. Inside the deli has subdued lighting.. Nor are they known for any specific type of specialty sandwich, so we ordered prosciutto and mozzarella sandwich with red peppers. #deliFridays. The sandwiches were either available on a roll or a hero. We both wanted to see how their sandwiches compared to other delis previously reviewed. My friend originally suggested that we go back to SKC, but I encouraged him to stay and place a takeout order. Later, he called me that he liked their hero better than the last three we visited I still prefer the bomb. While waiting for the sandwiches we took a look around the deli. They still have photos and clock from decades ago with old photos. No chairs, but nice old 'deli' atmosphere. A lot of locals seem to have showed up while I was there. It is not the cleanest deli we visited, but adequate for takeout. 1 star I got to chat with a lady there possibly one of the owners. She gave me some recommendations on some of their meat products and cheeses they have on offer. In addition, the employee who prepared our sandwiches was really helpful too, and suggested the red peppers, which were extra! Overall, an enjoyable lunch, takeout of course!! read more

A great little deli on the corner of 44th St and 25th Ave in Astoria. They have homemade hot food Monday through Friday and a variety of sandwiches and subs that are always tasty. The staff is so friendly and welcoming and seems to know everyone's name. Highly recommend checking it out! read more

First off, talk about great customer service- they know EVERYONE on a first name basis. They're the most pleasant people to talk to in the morning, even before a cup of coffee. My favs: the knockwurst , Gaspars rice pudding, his coleslaw is the best in Astoria! Of course all the sandwiches are tailored how you want and they don't screw up your order. This is a small, local deli near the Astoria/LIC border. It was clean (joy!) and stocked full of a small variety of foods. As promised by the name, there is an actual deli counter where you can get a variety of boar's head meats. There is also an assortment of canned foods, breads and boxed meals that will serve you well in an emergency. (Which is why I came in - no food for dinner and lazy feet!) Gaspar always uses the freshest of ingredients and the whole crew (his family) knows how to make a mean sandwich. . I've been coming for years ! My favorites include the macaroni salad made in house, Saturday breakfast sandwy's and of course the homemade ice tea lemonade.I also usually go out of my way to drop in for a classic ham&cheese. I absolutely love this place. Very old school with all of the charm and neighborhood vibes. The entire family is lovely, always friendly and always welcoming. Great selection of drinks and snacks of all kinds and cooked food is pretty solid as well. Great place to get a sandwich from also! My neighborhood deli for almost a decade before moving out of Astoria. I love this place. They have basic grocery needs in addition to great food. Gaspar makes hards down the best egg and cheese sandwich ever. The salads, sandwiches and specials are always good and consistent. I miss having this place two blocks away. I still stop in when I am close!!! read more

Convenient location down the street from me. I'll run here if I ran out of any ingredients or groceries at home. Breakfast sandwiches are cheap and very good. He uses Boar's Head meats on sandwiches. Pretty decent coffee as well! I just wish he was open on Sundays. read more

We worked up the block from the one and only Gaspar's Deli, because there is nothing else around on 25th Avenue. Lets just say that the management is horrible! Every week we purchase milk for our employees and get little and quick things when needed, when we purchased the milk and brought it back to the office one of our employees was pouring milk into there coffee and it just did not look right and we realized that the milk was expired. Once we figured out that the milk was expired we also realized that the milk was very warm and we only bought it about 10 minutes before this incident. I walked back to the store acting like I was going to buy something else, I walked over to there milk refrigerator and noticed that most of the milks were expired and warm. I realized that he turns the refrigerator off when he closes his store, most of all his refrigerated products were warm. They also serve food but there is no letter grade posted on there store from the city, he probably never registered his store to the city. Also they never use any type of gloves to handle food. One of our employees purchased cookies and realized after she ate them that they were expired. Another one of our employees purchased breakfast and when she got back to the office they gave her the wrong order and she called Gaspar's deli and she explained what they did and they were completely nasty towards her and hung up the phone. Recently I contacted the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and reported a complaint and told them that they did not have there letter grade since Department of Health is the one who comes and grades them. Suggestion to all do not go to this deli, If you have to make sure you check and look out for every little thing. read more
