This shop certainly has amazingly beautiful antiques. It is a very large space with lots of large pieces. Furniture, signage, cabinets, things of that nature. It is pretty pricey. If you can afford it, it does have some stunning pieces that certainly add history to your home. I purchased a small cake plate which Was fairly priced. The gentleman who helped me was very friendly and helpful. Sadly, I couldn't afford much more at the shop. read more

High Security Alert - Only one of the three buildings was accessible with signs directing us to the middle one, the lady watching the door told us we were allowed to look around which we were hoping was the case since that's the reason we stopped in. This place is crammed full of stuff, there are some interesting pieces here although being a collector I was surprised at the number of reproductions on displayed that were way overpriced in my opinion. I also couldn't believe the number of pieces that had signs displayed beside them that stated "do not touch without permission". I've been in museums with longer leashes. This shop was a little disappointing especially since I decided to come here after reading the reviews - I believe all to be true after visiting even though the experiences here seem to be terrible or wonderful - I think they must have a theft problem with the overprotective attitude I wasn't thanked on the way out but I did get a full scan from the paranoid lady perched at the door. One visit was plenty for me, it was a ridiculous uncomfortable experience unfortunately, I would of loved to have browsed through the other two buildings I think these guys are more collectors than sellers... read more

Ultra high end, beautiful, pricey, and worth it. Absolutely stunning real antiques, don't waste your time going anywhere else if you want the real thing, because it's all here. Glorious crystal, sterling, porcelain, the store is stuffed to the gills with beautiful furniture, the finest we've seen in ages. I recall driving past this place when I was younger, and am glad I finally stopped in this antique store that has seen many years in South Tampa. For starters, many antique/vintage stores have a niche market for items they collect that's really based off the whims and favors of the collector; Gaslight Antiques is all about large, ornate wooden furniture (especially some nice barrister bookcases), Tiffany-style glass lamps, and small decorative items, so you won't find much jewelry, clothing, or kitchen items here. What they do have is absolutely stunning.. and with that comes a hefty price tag. Some of the mosaic glass lampss ran anywhere from $550 to $900. I would have gotten some photos because of how beautiful they were, but many signs were posted to not take pictures of the merch :( I would take off 1.5 stars because many items like the bookcases weren't priced. Even the one item I bought didn't have a price--the woman just gave me one. While that's great and all, it can feel a bit arbitrary; like, am I getting a bad price because I'm ugly? Or depending on the mood of the seller? I'd rather just know up-front without having to have the seller price everything from the top of their head. Overall, it's neat to see what life was like before IKEA sullied is with cheap, nasty furniture; if only my budget would allow for these lovely pieces! read more

I know that a lot of antique stores sell that stuff but as a Jewish woman, it just made me uncomfortable. That stuff should be in a museum, not for sale. One of the rudest experiences I've had in a long time. I drove an hour in then morning to get there when they opened. I was greeted with a surly, uninterested shop owner who told me that he supposed I could come in....though they were just getting open. Visited gaslight after wanting to visit for years. Walk to the first building and it was locked, with a sign that says go to the next building on the left. No problem we thought let's just walk over. We get to the 2nd building and that too was locked. We thought it was weird, however decided to walk to the last building and try that door. We finally get to that door and pull the handle only to be met with the female shop owner (I assume) and hurriedly rushed us out stating that we were going back to the original building. She then asked half heartedly what were we looking for? My husband replied we were just looking for now as we've always wanted to visit and we are avid antique shoppers. So we get to the 3rd building again and her focus was not on us as she was assisting another guest. At one point my husband asked her about a shadow box that we could possibly use as a display. Her response was curt and rude and she wasn't really listening to what he wanted. She automatically assumed that we wanted to purchase her displays which wasn't the case at all. Even her response was rude after my husband sharing that we've been looking for a while. Her response was maybe you will find it one day. After spending 10 minutes in this shop it was quite evident our business was not welcome. This is really sad as I heard her state they've been in business 40 years but apparently every guest isn't as important as some. No worries we will NEVER return. read more

Came for a visit to one of Tampa's most well-known antique shops. There is so much to see and you almost move through it like a museum, which is kind of fun. Unfortunately, I am not able to give this place a good rating due to one very glaring, yet very important, issue. I turn the corner and see a small pin, like something from a military uniform, with a nazi symbol on it. Disheartening to say the least, but I continued. As I continued through the store I then found several more items with nazi symbolism. This is a store that sells antiques for profit - generally the premise of a store - but, I find it unfortunate that the owners are trying to make money on an unthinkable time in world history. My hopes are that these items would be removed and the owners would have more consideration and awareness for their actions. read more

This place is a medium-sized shop, abs it is packed full of vintage furniture, and other odds-and-ends. The owners (I assume they were the owners) were very friendly. The is not much variety compared to other antique shops in the Bay Area, but what they had was on the high end, in my opinion. Some of their stuff looked like it should be in a museum. They didn't really have anything I was looking for, but I would recommend it to anyone who just wants to look around. I gave it 4 stars because it was clean, the staff was friendly, and the selection was pretty good. read more

Nice enough owner but it would have been amazing to not have consistently been shown pieces $5k & over like a car salesman. Couldn't really look in peace & inspect the pieces without having our ear talked off and it was a shame since a display case they had would have been perfect. When we walked in we were greeted by an older man. Eager to start shopping we asked if we could use the bathroom first. After seeing me and my wife together he told us that we were not welcome in his store. As a lesbian couple we are not a stranger to being judged. However he escorted us immediately out of his store saying our kinds were not welcome and needed to leave. I am truly so so insulted, especially for this to happen in front of our four year old son. I have never been treated this way in a store and truly have no clue how to respond just coming on here to warn future guests that this store is completely unprofessional and aggressive/ not safe. read more

Absolutely the best Antique store in the bay area and beyond.I have been a patron for over 25 years and have always been delighted with my purchases.The owners, David and Vicki are so pleasant and helpful.I stopped in yesterday and was amazed at the amount of high quality antiques they always have filled in the three showrooms..I could spend a whole day looking at all the beautiful / interesting pieces.Gaslight Antiques is a treasure in this area..most stores claim to have antiques, but I'm always disapointed when I walk in and find a handful of somewhat antiques (sorry, I'm not in the market for 10 or more of grandmas old sewing machines.) We asked to use the bathroom for our son and the man was very rude and said we could not. He then asked us to leave when we had not even been in the store for 2 minutes - simply because we asked a second time because our son really had to use the restroom. The man gives you a very uncomfortable feeling when talking to him. Please be careful about going to this store. read more

I really miss Orlando's Antique Row and have been looking for something similar close by to our area in Tampa (not too far from Lutz or at least Downtown Tampa). On the way to our dentist in South Tampa I did a quick Yelp search and was delighted to see a few reviews for a nearby antique shop that looked interesting. I love big dusty antique shops that seemed to go on forever. The layout of Gaslight Antiques was a little strange..there seemed to be two more buildings around it but we had no idea if they were connected inside or if we had to go outside to access them. We ended up just looking around the smaller "main" building as the other ones were locked and directed us back to the main building(I'm not sure if they open at different times or if we just completely missed how to access them). Anyway, everything inside was immaculately kept which is pleasant if you like your antique shops organized and spotless. The owner was very nice and welcomed us in right away. She didn't follow us around which was a relief (a clingy and suspicious owner makes me not want to buy anything). There were cameras EVERYWHERE. So I'm sure that helped the owner not really feel the need to follow us around. Plus everything was so tightly packed its not like anyone could easily run out with a 19th century writing desk or something. The place was packed! Its not a very large space in comparison to other antique shops we've gone to but they really do fit a variety of antiques. I question the authenticity of a few items like the Houdini, Ching Ling Foo and Anne Oakley traveling cases, however we never asked so I can't say with certainty that they're not genuine. It was cool to see them there though. The only thing I miss is a nice combination of antiques and items that you are encouraged to touch and explorer. We really did walk around with our hands behind our backs most of the time afraid of touching or bumping into anything due to how tight the space was and how immaculate the items where. Plus almost everything said to keep your hands off lol. read more

Absolutely worst place to shop for antiques. Whoever the older lady was that seem to be the only one running four buildings was rude, uninviting, and snarky at best. My wife and I will be in after wanting to visit the store for years and never having the opportunity to finally got a day off to go visit and was met with nothing but unkindness. When I inquired about a particular piece of furniture I was told maybe I will find it someday but you won't find it here. We will never go back to this location ever again and we will never suggest to anyone we know. read more

Two stores filled with really cool unique antiques, but way over priced. I was also told by the owner's wife that they don't verify authenticity, so buy at your own risk! They also are either extremely misinformed about their business, or just downright swindlers as the wife tried to sell me a "first edition" of Thackeray's Vanity Fair when it said at the bottom of the title page that it was a reproduction of the first edition. Recently during a visit to Tampa, I rediscovered a fabulous set of antique galleries on Henderson Blvd. it is almost magical to enter inti these immense showcases full of high quality merchandise. Gorgeous American pieces as well as imported ones are a feast to ones' eyes! The owners, Vikki and Dave are well informed and helpful about the origins and details of their inventory. All has been preserved and/or restored in a meticulous manner. I strongly encourage antique buffs as well as novices to experience a visit to Gaslight in south Tampa. You will not be disappointed! Beautiful store that makes you feel like a criminal. The store has a lot of incredible antiquities, but the owner made us feel very uncomfortable. My mother and I were looking to buy for her horse farm in South Carolina, but the owner followed us all around the store like we were going to steal something. Then he scolded me for for attempting to take a picture which is ridiculous! How would a buyer be able to show their finds to a client? Can't sell expensive antiques based on descriptive imagery, sorry! The wife seemed friendly enough, but I would not return and would never recommend this store to anyone. GA is huge and packed with so many antiques it was a bit overwhelming. The items were unique and in great condition but the service was lacking. One of the galleries was closed because the proprietor's wife was helping someone move--not that big of a deal, but a sign on the door stating that particular gallery was closed early, would have been nice. Once inside, I had to search for an employee and when I finally found him, he was rude and painfully pretentious. I asked if they bought antiques as well as sold them and he said, "depends on if its old enough". I inquired about an old wall telephone that I have--showed pictures and asked if it was something he would consider. He said no because "it's missing the dry cell batteries so it won't work". I said it wouldn't work either way without re-wiring certain parts--the receiver and the ringer won't work on modern wiring. He then proceeded to argue with me that it would work--you just connect the wall phone to the modern wires and voila! a working connection. I didn't see the point in arguing with him. The bottom line is he was very rude and spoke to me like I was an idiot and wasting his time. Customer service is a large part of business--especially if your business is to sell things to people. I may look young, but I have extensive telecom training/experience and I fix and rewire old telephones as a hobby. I'm also a serious collector and will drop serious money for certain antiques. They won't be getting any of my business, I'll go elsewhere. read more

The owners quickly bombarded me at the door and proceeded to ask me multiple questions about my reason of stopping in and what I was seeking to buy, after I had already explained that I would let them know if anything captured my interest. Definitely didn't feel welcomed here. Perhaps they aren't accustomed to interacting with African-American men. This is probably the most entertaining and impressive antique store I have ever ventured through. There is a large and extensive selection of various hand picked and rare antiques that have been meticulously maintained, and sourced from all over the globe. Their merchandise is incredibly clean and dust free (rare for an antique store) and the owners are always on site, incredibly knowledgeable, and a joy to speak to. Definitely a place with a big selection of furniture and design items. Some furniture pieces are true antiques, some are more vintage, prices of course reflect that. Some pieces are even on par in price with modern veneered-MDF items! French owner has a lot of knowledge and love for her pieces, she can definitely help you find what you are looking for! Go on in if you are looking for something in particular or just for inspiration, you will be drawn to go back! The owner is kind, approachable, and knowledgeable. I am upset and saddened at the same time as they are nice people and I was 'taken'. I was looking for an antique store who deals with Estate Jewelery. I contacted Gas Light and described my pieces and they said yes bring it hem by. I drove down from Nassau County I spoke with the owners several times letter no them know I was coming and would have my service dog. I arrived and they would not let me enter with my service dog. They told me to wait to at the door and he would get his wife she handles the Jewelery. She see me and says your here and ushers me outside. She asks where my car was which was parked out back on the side of the building she the said we'll show me the jewelry. We are conducting business is an alley with Jewry valued in excess the of 25k and she has no loop or gold testing equipment which is standard. So either they do not allow service dogs (which she was wearing her identifying vest) or this business conducts estate jewelry in their alley or your car is unacceptable and unprofessional. Either way I nor you should ever do business with an establishment that conduct business in that manner. They clear can not move the quality pieces I have but wanted me to bring it over for them to look at and not really evaluate it. Do not go to this establishment. The don't know how to conduct busness. read more
