That alone carries so much nostalgia for me. Walking into the new spot definitely feels different. It's hard not to compare it to what it used to be. The old location always felt full, lively, and kind of like a staple in the community. This new space feels quieter and honestly a bit empty, which made me a little sad. I even noticed signs asking customers to come in and support, which makes me wonder what's going on behind the scenes. Price wise, I've always known Broken Horn to have occasional good sales, but overall it's usually not the best deal in town. I recently went in specifically looking for a pooper scooper they used to carry years ago because it was amazing and I genuinely wanted to support local instead of ordering on Amazon. Unfortunately, they didn't have it. The only similar option was plastic and priced the same as what I could get online, so it just didn't make sense. I ended up ordering from Amazon, which I honestly hated doing because I would've preferred to give them the business. That said, I'm still giving them an honorary five out of five purely because of the memories and what this place meant growing up in Baldwin Park. They still offer dog vaccines, which is a huge plus for the community and something I appreciate. I really hope they find their footing again and make whatever adjustments are needed to bring back that special feeling the old location had. Broken Horn has history here, and I genuinely want to see it thrive again.

I narrowed my choices down to two, and went with Kruse Feed & Supply. After putting off a visit to Kruse for the longest time, I called ahead to make sure they had what I needed. A pleasant voice on the other end belonging to one Emily said she'd check, and verified that they did have what I needed, and so, I made plans to stop by the next day. The place is located in what appeared to once be a 4-bedroom house that had been converted into a feed store with lots of food and supplies for dogs, cats, birds(wild and caged), as well as horses. After perusing the store(I should've looked closer for a price on some steel trash cans I was looking at), I walked up to the counter, where I was greeted by none other than the voice on the other line the previous day, Emily, who was an absolute sweetheart with her pleasant demeanor. I ordered a 50 lb. bag of Safflower, and a 50 lb. bag of Black Oil Sunflower. I paid, and was told in that same pleasant voice that my seed would be loaded into my car. Sure enough, a couple of the guys brought me my seed, and loaded them into my trunk. Bing bang boom. Overall, nice place, great service. I'll definitely stop by again!

Oh what a great place, a real gem for Cowgirls and Cowboys looking for some gently used tack,…read moreclothes, saddles, bits, & boots. My niece and I found some really great finds. Bridle, saddle & beautiful set of reins. The Tack Shack has been around for years on the property of REINS Therapeutic Horsemanship. Barbara started & grew the Tack Shack over the years into this local tack shop of used donated items from very generous donators. With great prices & a great selection you will find a few things you need to start your tack collection or pick up a must needed addition to your supplies. Be sure & tell your friends about the Tack Shack & tell Barbara you found them on Yelp. From their website: About the Tack Shack REINS Tack Shack is a thrift store full of horse equipment and apparel. The store has a wide variety of used clothing, Western and English tack, horse care products, blankets, wraps, books, gifts, and more! Located: 4461 S. Mission Road, Fallbrook, CA 92028 Hours: Tuesday-Saturday 11:00AM-4:00PM Email: tackshack@reinsprogram.org Direct Line: 760-723-1590 History In 1999 we found ourselves brimming with tack donations for our therapeutic riding lessons. We had so many donations that we could not use them all. We decided to open up a used tack store. In a little 10 x 10 Storage shed (that was really more of a shack) we opened up one day a week to resell all the generous donations we could not use. In 2002 we built a new building for our store. Because of its humble beginning we named it the Tack Shack. Today the Tack Shack is open five days a week and is run with the help of volunteers. Barbara Larsen is the Manager, taking care of the planning and inventory of the Tack Shack. We have customers from all over Southern California and donations from as far as Minnesota. All proceeds from the Tack Shack go directly to REINS and our students.
