We enjoy the paddle boat rental, the office/store, the scenic views, the kind other campers along with the activities. We only live a half hour from Barnum but it is such a great place to camp. It is quickly becoming our favorite campground. The beaches are so well maintained and the lake is clear as glass. So worth the drive wherever you're coming from.

You don't really want to touch anything. You cannot lock the toilette stalls and the doors just swing open. This goes for both the mens and women's bath rooms, I guess the only thing good about it, is that its free.

The night before it was me and one other camper in 10 sites. We have 10 walk in tent sites. You need a reservation. It's $15 a night for up to six people per campsite. There's a picnic table in a fire at each site. There are pit toilets. There is no electricity anywhere in the park including no lights even in the parking lot. It's awesome. Great to see the night sky. On the east side of the park there is a picnic pavilion and several picnic tables with a charcoal grill On rainbow lake. Straight Lake has a boat access so does rainbow lake, but you have to carry the boat from the parking lot. Non-motorized boats only Like canoes and kayaks. Several miles of singletrack hiking trails as well as the Ice Age national scenic Trail which transects the park. I had trouble finding firewood in the area so I could not have a campfire. You're supposed to bring it in from only 10 miles away and the gas station in Frederick and Luck did not have any and I didn't see any roadside stand selling wood. Upon reaching the playground from the parking lot, I first noticed a huge black hole at the end of a wooden bridge and a sign. I thought it was some kind of sewage hole but boy was I wrong! It's the entryway to a huge covered slide!!!! And a few feet away is a wide wavy double slide! Even better, next to the slides is another course - a zip line swing!! Oh man, in all my years I've never seen such cool playground courses in a park. Then you also have a complete playground course with many different slides, climbing Bridges, tunnels, rock climbing, money bars and a swivel bar with swings alongside. This park was definitely a paradise kind of park. Even I had to experience the slides & zip line for myself. Need a little adrenaline? This is where. Take a walk on the path down the dock to the fishing pier or alongside a small beach. It was a great small park filled with fun playgrounds for kids. Dogs are welcome here

You can rent pontoons and fishing boats directly from the resort and prices are comparable to other local suppliers. The fact that they're onsite and convenient just adds to the value. You can even buy live bait onsite if you need it. We enjoyed seeing some of the wildlife in the area as well. Pheasants stroll the grounds and eagles are common along the southwest side of the lake. The flower garden is beautiful and has a path going through it so you can get a better view. Prices for cottage rental were either comparable or better than the other resorts nearby. And the staff is really friendly and helpful. An all around great experience and we already plan on coming back next year.

The 3rd generation is setting up themselves to succeed already, they know the business from various angles. Their tag "perpetually new" is true, they update the cabins, boats, and grounds regularly. The sites are extremely spacious and well set up as the owner is also a coach owner. The grounds are immaculate and they host music evert Tuesday night that includes catered food from local vendors. The hosts are so friendly and helpful. During our stay we went to a small town festival and a local county fair. The owners are continually working on improvements on this new campground. If you are traveling through the Rice Lake area this is definitely a resort to stay at. You are not treated as a customer at this resort but truly as a guest. We will definitely be back.
