It starts at the greeting of the doctor's attendant, Elza, as we come in. She is friendly, helpful, and knows all the steps to make us comfortable and welcome. And she doubles as a translator (Spanish to English) back and forth (English to Spanish) for the doctor and the patients. Then the appointment starts, and we meet Dr. Gary Archer He is such a good old-school kind of doctor. He is concerned on making us healthy and doesn't limit his appointment to the clock or to his preferences. Say what? He will make sure that we understand - and that he understands every little underlying cause of our issue. I could go on forever about his knowledge, kindness, and professionalism and I wouldn't be able cover all of it. My son, my husband and me are very lucky to have found a doctor that takes care of us from hair to toe, inside and outside. Thank you, Dr. Gary for all these many years of being caring for us. And above all, thank God for having a tool like you on His side! read more

First, There is NO privacy. You can hear the whole conversation as he is interviewing the patient. I'm a very private person and this was hard because I don't like my business out there. Second, they're not Covid safe. They don't screen the patients upon walking in. On this day they were running behind, I was there two hours because the Dr. yip yaps with patients about other unrelated subjects. I may appear to be annoyed in this review and I am because my appt was @ 415 and he didn't see me until 525. The ONLY reason I waited was because he has helped a family member with their asthma. The Dr. will ask you a series of questions about your life and build a time line, I didn't understand this part. He wanted specific answers from me, I was annoyed by this time and said man that was a long time ago. He was asking questions about things that occurred 20-25 years ago. Anyway , Bring your lab results and medication if you have them. This will help with the visit. ASK QUESTIONS! The Dr. doesn't like to be questioned because he is use to treating the local latino community which probably just accepts whatever he says. Most of you will know what I mean by that. Anyway, I showed him my lab results and he said they looked good but yet two other General Practitioner doctors told me that I was borderline for disease. How does that work out? He finished his questioning and prescribed me a bunch of pellets not for what I originally went there for but to clean my liver, blood and strengthen my heat beat? This is where it got interesting, he took the pellets out of the bottles, put them in a shaker and then poured them into a plastic bag. I like to know what I'm putting in my body so I asked him as to why he did that, furthermore now I won't know which one is which because they all look alike. He said, You don't need to know and I didn't want to give you all the bottles, you'll have to take them all anyway. I'm still confused as to why they come in different bottle but then he mixes them. I continued to ask about side effects, he said you shouldn't have any. As some of us are aware you can still have side effects with natural medicine, especially if you don't take it appropriately. Everyone responds to medication and natural medicine differently. Also ask, if there are any interactions with medications or supplements that you're taking. Anyway, This was a short review of my visit. The point is, ASK questions even though he doesn't like it. Besides this, I 'm sure he knows what he's doing based on all the reviews. But he needs to listen to the patient and explain in detail what he is prescribing and for what or just give you the bottles. The wording on the bottles will probably be in a foreign language but that's why we have the internet and other sources. I'm not sure if I will be back or just go to Chinatown in DTLA. Check him out if you'd like, it's totally up to you. This was my experience, GOOD LUCK! read more

This is where my journey and passion for Eastern Medicine started. At the time, I was a Paramedic and my gf experienced stomach issues that no one could help her since childhood. Numerous surgeries and medications did nothing. Out of desperation, I came here. After treating her with Acupuncture, Herbs and Homeopathy, she felt better within 3 days. In a week, she felt great, in a month, she felt wonderful. That was 8 years ago. Dr. Archer is not only kind and professional, but also extremely knowledgeable and direct. Consultations last well over an hour and he really listens. His prices are extremely reasonable, thus he opened his clinic in HP instead of BH. Don't be fooled by the size of the clinic, this reception area gets packed. He does not advertise and the majority of his patients come from word of mouth. Yes, he is Board Certified and a Licensed Acupuncturist (not certified) and holds an OMD degree in Chinese Medicine and a PhD in Homeopathy. Dr. Archers compassion and treatment helped my wife, and changed my views on Eastern Medicine. After meeting him, I decided to pursue my degree in Chinese Medicine, even though I was accepted into a Physician Assistant program. 8 years later, I recently opened my second Clinic in Texas. read more

Dr. Archer works out of my doctor's office in Pasadena a couple of days a week. I'm a big believer in holistic medicine and acupuncture, but some acupuncturists are definitely better than others. He is really good. I went to see him for the first time a few months after my father died. I was feeling exhausted, sad and generally wrung out. After talking to me for awhile, he gave me some homeopathic medicine, herbs and an acupuncture treatment. The next day I felt marginally better. After a few days, I felt much better. It was as though a huge weight had been lifted off my chest, and I had my energy back. I went to see him once or twice more, but that was all I needed! Since then, I have been in on and off for other issues. I'll try to remember to post more about how that goes. He has strong opinions and is very direct and passionate about holistic medicine, but he knows what he's talking about and he really cares. read more

This is my first Yelp review ever and I feel Dr. Archer deserves it. My mom brought me here to pick his brain on my breast cancer and up coming treatment of it. Dr. Archer was clear on his dislike for chemo, however, was very respectful of any decision I'd make. He was not condescending and instead of trying to convince me of how horrible chemo and western medicine is: he focused on the positive and goodness of eastern/Chinese medicine. While I have decided to take the chemo route, I'm continuing my extensive research and will be working with Dr. Archer to add TCM to my plan. I have recommended him to anyone that will listen. Even if you don't do full on Chinese medicine treatment, definitely try it in conjunction with your current treatment. read more

I just went to this place last week . The place is clean , the medical assistants/nurses were nice and courteous, Dr Archer I believe really knows and loves what he does . I came thinking I'm going to get acupuncture but I didn't because the doctor did a FULL interview of my history and current medical conditions . I don't know what I have but I've seen around 8 doctors both from Kaiser and United health . None of them really did an assessment like dr Archer did . And oh it did take time , he wasn't in a hurry! I had some questions , all answered and he even drew illustrations to help explain . Maybe some mainstream doctors are still like that but I've not seen one , lol I'm a nurse by trade . So doctors I've worked with and doctors I've seen as a patient I think pale in comparison to him. I don't know if what he prescribe me will work but based on the people in the office ., I give this place a five star .the place is not super fancy , but it's clean , there's enough parking as well ! His clinic is not in Beverly Hills , Burbank or Pasadena but in Huntington park. I'm glad he's in that area .... so he can reach and help a lot people . I hope I see more Dr Archers in the future ... as there is gonna be a paradigm shift in medical world . This was a pleasant and productive visit for me ! I wasn't referred by anyone I found him through extensive picking and desperation since I've already seen doctors and specialists . read more

I have been suffering from severe chronic migraines. I had to quit my job and had been incapacitated for over a year. I was in bed in a dark room for days and sometimes weeks. I had no life and I was falling into some really bad depression. I found out about Dr.Gary and I have been seeing him for 3 months now and I have a new life. I am able to set goals and I am finally able to say I can commit an employment. I take the herbs religiously and I love how I feel after the acupuncture. He's my life saver, literally. read more

So great to know Gary is still practicing. I met Gary when my son was 5 and had been already hospitalized twice during his young life due to asthma. Gary used a combination of diet, homeopathics and chinese herbs to get my son off all the western drugs (albuterol, inhaled cortecosteroids, steroids ) and get him healthy again. Today , 20+ years later, my son is very healthy and I continue to use homeopathic and chinese herbs and meds to treat my family. I am forever grateful to Gary for all he did for us! read more

I've had acupuncture from different acupuncturists and now I am a student of acupuncture. A classmate referred me to Dr. Archer. I've been seeing Dr. Archer for the past 6 months and must say he's the most thorough with his diagnoses and takes the time with you to really find out how to best treat you than the other healthcare practitioners I've seen in the past. He takes the time with you to help you understand the likely causes of your problem which is so helpful, because healing is a two way street. The patient is just as, if not more, responsible for their own healing. I'm very grateful I found a competent doctor. He also uses homeopathy which is an effective combination with acupuncture. read more
