I love farm shops, and this is the one that i love the most. It's in beautiful surroundings, with a really big green with a pond right next to it. And a little cricket pitch. Oh so villagey. A dazzling selection of fruit and vegetables that make me want to actually try and eat 5 portions a day. I always fall for the frozen chocolate croissants. By the next morning when defrosted they are huge, and when taken out the oven they look mighty impressive, and of course taste it too. I enjoy coming here to pick strawberries & raspberries in the summer. It's so satisfying foraging for your own food.

If you're picky about your fruit and veg but don't have the facilities to grow your own, why not visit Garsons? You can't get much fresher than picking your own healthy produce, while it's still in the fields. Makes a good change from roaming the supermarket shelves it's fun for adults and children, alike. I've been here in the pouring rain and still enjoyed the experience. If you want to check in advance for produce availability, you can ring ahead and verify when your favourite fruit or veg will be pick-able. It's a very large site so you'll need to follow the signs to locate what you're after; then it's up to you Pick-away, place your selection in the bags provided, get it weighed and pay at one of the check-out kiosks. If you need additional supplies - to accompany your fresh pickings - near the exit there's a separate farm shop. Also, a café/restaurant, for instant refreshment, to help you recover from your exertions in the field. Then you're free to return home and munch on your harvest.

Took 2 three year old here today so they could learn where some of their food comes from. They absolutely loved picking their own fruit and vegetables. We cooked them up for dinner tonight and every bite was gone. Big success. I'd love to come back as we ran out of time to have a proper look around the HUGE farm/gift store!! Overall a great experience

Just went there recently, and defiantly improved the layout, and the look. The café also has their own staff and a better café type menu. Certainly puts the other garden centres a challenge.

Visited Garsons Pick your own farm on Saturday. It was my first visit to a pyo farm and I absolutely loved the experience. I picked my own fruits and some veggies and all I can say is that they were very delicious. There is a ring road around the crops and more than enough parking spaces. Friendly staff. Prices were quite OK, but don't forget to keep all receipts because you will need to present them before you leave the farm. Will be going again next weekend.

I went in 2 different times: saturday at 3pm and wednesday at 10am. Two completely different vibes. I tried the famous sandwich from the black pig, viral chocolate covered strawberries and bread ahead. Black pig - the best one sandwich: it was AMAZING!!! I was a bit scared to get this since i was by myself but let me tell you, it was not heavy as i expected it to be. Just delicious overall and would totally recommend. Chocolate strawberries: I love strawberries and chocolate but definitely think you can find cheaper alternatives anywhere in london. Bread Ahead: my new favorite pastry place. I pretty much got a donut from this place (not this location) everyday because the black currant cheesecake donut was that good. I got the tiramisu and crème brûlée donut which my brother liked and i wish i could've tasted them before they went bad but anyways, I would totally recommend the donuts from here! Their chocolate chips cookies are HUGE and delicious as well. This was probably one of my favorite markets!

On a weekday you have plenty of your classic cockney fruit & veg sellers but also increasingly stalls selling things like ostrich burgers and last time I was in town on a Saturday there was enough street food to rival some of the great central London markets. There's also way more space to sit than any of those markets, and even if you can't find a spot in the market place you are seconds away from the riverfront which is also all re-done and fancy. Also remember you are close by the Coronation Stone, upon which 7 kings were crowned in the 900s! Yeah...I love Kingston. And I know a disturbing amount of obscure historical facts about it.

Carving pumpkins is my favourite thing to do round Halloween time. (That along with watching Hocus Pocus on about a bagillion times!) I did a quick google search for pumpkin picking, and from pumpkinpatchesandmore.org, I was pointed in the direction of Crockford Bridge Farms. From the website, it looked pretty sweet! It was more than just pick your own, including a restaurant, coffee shop, ice cream, aquarium, and farm shop. Sadly, I had fooled myself into thinking I might have the same experience back at home: hay rides, hot apple cider, pumpkin pie and cake, rows and rows of pumpkins in a patch, maybe a corn maze. Yeah, not really. They did have a TeePee though, which I found kinda odd. And they certainly had enough tall corn to do a maze! It was more like a garden centre than anything. I can't really describe it accurately because I've never been to a place like it before. They had loads of fish tanks, complete with angel fish to puffer fish. They also sold fireworks for Guy Fawkes Night, with names like Big Mama's and Devil's Crotch (or something of that variety). And they had a huge horse-sized unicorn and camel stuffed animals. The farm shop bit had the pumpkins, and along with it various jams, cakes, and fresh produce. It even had an American section with the likes of Stove Top and Skippy peanut butter in it. As for the pumpkins, instead of being out in the field where they might get "stem rot", they were packed into giant wooden crates to pick from. I can't say the trip was all for naught though, as I did get super excited about picking out my pumpkin! I even bought a pumpkin carving kit to go with it. I guess the whole Halloween in the UK thing might never catch on. At least the ride to and from was pretty scenery.

I didn't think it was much at the time when I lived in South Croydon, but now I really do miss places like this. I miss wandering "down to town" and passing this market and then wandering pass it again on the way home. It was a great place, full of vibrant people, a decent selection of stalls including ones that sold fresh fruit and veg, bags, purses, books, watches, pendants, antiques, flowers, specialty foods and the list goes on. In general, the number of stalls increased during the weekends. As with most outdoor markets, there's potential for haggling if you're into that kind of thing. There's also a lot of trash, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder... keep your eyes peeled for bargains in the summer, such as freshly plucked berries at an amazing price! Towards closing time (around 5:00 pm), there were lots of bargains that could be had: 1 pound for this or 1 pound for that. That is if you can understand the locals, screaming in cockney rhyming slang. There is nearby street parking, but the best bet would be to park near the city centre and walk down. I was lucky enough to live within walking distance of this market.
