Garri Dance has truly earned its consistent reputation for being "Burbank's Best" dance studio. My son has a lot of energy and loves to dance, but is a bit on the shy side. I enrolled him in hip hop classes at Garri Dance it and it totally helped boost his confidence and burn some of that extra energy. The instructors are very warm and professional and the facilities are top-notch and always sparkling clean. The owner is so sweet and accommodating and makes it a point to connect with each and every one of her students. The yearly recital is nothing short of amazing! The staff did an incredible job helping the little ones, including my shy son, get out on the stage and work it! I couldn't believe how excited my son was to dance before an audience and I had such a great time watching it! I know my son is in great hands when I drop him off at Garri Dance and I love what the classes have done for his confidence. Plus, he's acquired some pretty sick dance moves! Best dance studio around! My daughter has been going to the triple threat class and piano now for almost 6 months and they are so knowledgable and personable with you and your child. They really take the time to care for and teach your child how to dance and have fun so it's not militant. The students are so talented and that has everything to do with the staff! I highly recommend Ana as the piano teacher!nnot only is she amazing with my daughter but we can sit and laugh as well. Adrienne is fantastic teacher for triple threat class which has dancing singing and acting in it which is perfect for my child because she is so expressive. My almost 6 yr old daughter has been in classes here since she was 3. All the instructors and the owner are wonderful people. They seem to genuinely care for the children and make dancing so much fun for them. Going there feels like visiting family. My daughter has progressed wonderfully with them in ballet and tap. They take the time to teach each step and have a great amount of patience for the kids. You never see anyone there not in a good mood. Everyone is always smiling. This started out great and lately the quality of instruction has gone down with the prices up . They lost the best teacher around. The owner is an absentee owner who doesnt care when a long time student (who spent thousands ) taking dance lesson there is not longer there. I signed with the studio before checking out all the dates for classes. They charge per month regardless of whether the studio will be closed for a holiday in that month. They told me it is because they don't charge more if there are 5 weeks in the month. I thought that seemed fair. They charge $20 to sign with them and require a 3 month commitment before you can withdraw. After checking my calendar, only one month in the year had 5 weeks and that month the studio was closed for a whole week due to holiday break. Out of our three months, he had 3 classes in two of them and 4 classes in the other which was supposed to be a 5 week month. They also do not allow make-up classes unless you are extremely ill. My daughter is an actress and we were taking classes to help her learn new skills. Sometime we couldn't make the classes due to auditions. However, they wouldn't allow a make-up class. I feel this dance studio is over priced to start with, then adding that it is closed too often without giving the parent a credit toward a future class or charging less in that month, and not allowing a make-up classes was the final straw. I withdrew my child after the 3 month trial was over. I will never go back. The teachers were okay and my daughter loved hers, but there are great teachers everywhere. The teachers are not enough to overcome their other problems. read more

My daughter has been going to this dance studio for almost 3 years. At first, the front office person was helpful but not as friendly. I kept my daughter in GDS because she really like her teacher. Now, they have girls in the front office and they are very rude and if you ask them question, they are not of any help at all. They also have annual student appreciation picnic, they are very double standard, I tried to make reservation for 7 people but they told me they are limiting 5 Guests per family but when we went to the picnic, there are families who has more than 5 guests. Recently, one of my daughter's classmate decided to try GDS and I was expecting that the front desk people will at least try to give good costumer service to recruit more students, it was a big disappointment, they are very rude and I was very embarrassed. My daughters have been attending GDS for about a year and a half now, both doing Ballet and Tap. Recently, I enrolled my oldest in private piano lessons through the studio as well and she seems to love it. We have tried other studios in town but GDS is definitely the place for us and here's why: In short... The studio is amazing. The teachers are incredible and make dancing fun while maintaining the integrity of proper technique. Everyone involved is so passionate and talented and it shows. If you're looking for a place to bring your child for dance lessons where you want them to have fun AND become a great dancer, this is the place! Miss Stephanie and Miss Adrienne are phenomenal teachers and are both so invested in their students. It's heartwarming to see such dedication to your child come from an outside source. In long... The Staff I am blown away by the magnitude of talent Miss Megan assembled in her staff. The instructors at GDS are extremely skilled and bring their passion, enthusiasm, and professional experience to the classroom. It is clear that each instructor strives to make dancing not only exceptionally fun, but technically proficient, expressive, and full of life. My girls leave the studio elated and their technique noticeably improves with each passing week (especially after a little practice!). My little one, who is 4, asks me every single day if today is the day she can go back and see Miss Stephanie. She refuses to leave the studio without at least three hugs from Miss Stephanie and will talk your ear off the rest of the week about all the fun things she did in Miss Stephanie's class. I cannot speak highly enough of both Miss Stephanie and Miss Adrienne, both of whom my girls have had as instructors since their enrollment. Not only are they great role models for my daughters, they are, quite simply, the best in the business. If you don't believe me, ask my daughters. If you still don't believe it, just watch them dance. Miss Megan, who runs GDS, is proactive, professional, and makes each parent and child feel like they are part of a family. She genuinely cares for her clients and will bend over backwards to make sure every child and adult is well taken care of. Courtesy, respect, and care, all attributes that seem to be rare in this day and age, come quite naturally to Miss Megan and it has always been a pleasure interacting with her. The Shows To date, we have done two recitals and one holiday show. Overall, I am very impressed with the entire process. The GDS staff makes these events look easy, which means they are clearly working ridiculously hard behind the scenes to produce the lighting, music cues, stage managers, ticket sales, costumes (all hand sewn and provided by the studio!), event coordinating, insurance, permits, event staff, etc. The rehearsals and shows go off without a hitch and it's such a great feeling to watch your little ones performing and see all the wonderful performances from other classes. My youngest froze up at the dress rehearsal for the recital (her first recital) and wouldn't move the entire time they practiced while they were up there on the stage. So, on the recital day, Miss Stephanie took the time to take my child out there for some one-on-one time, walk her through the entire process and help her practice. Needless to say, it nearly brought me to tears when my daughter started dancing her heart out the moment the music kicked in at the recital. Thank you, Miss Stephanie. That is one memory I will carry with me forever. The Events The studio offers a whole host of other shows, benefits, and events outside of their normal classes and recitals. There are dance camps, movie nights, carnival events, holiday shows, birthday parties, etc. It's not widely advertised, but GDS even comes to the local public schools to help get students involved in dance and put on shows there. They are highly involved with the local community. The Facility Sprung wood. Important for dancers. Ample street parking and a small lot behind the building. Walking distance to Porto's and all the shops and other restaurants along Magnolia. Kind of a small waiting room that gets crowded in between classes, but it makes me happy the majority of the space has been dedicated to the dance studios. What to Expect As with anything, it is difficult to judge something based off of a one-time experience. If you choose to enroll your child, I encourage you to enroll for at least a month before making a decision about whether or not to keep your child there. For some, it can be troubling allowing your child to be with perfect strangers behind closed doors without you, especially with the younger ones for the first time. But, I encourage you to trust the process and the teachers and allow your child to experience the environment as an individual. After all, there are a bunch of other kids in there without parents, and we can't ALL be crazy... read more

My daughter is shy, but she really likes this place. The front desk is very sweet and inviting, no big sales pushes. The teachers seem experienced, and the place is clean and in a safe neighborhood. I attended Garri Dance as a child for many years and now my daughter has taken my place. The owner (and my friend) Megan is amazing and has surrounded herself with a wonderful staff of loving and caring young ladies. The class sizes are reasonable and there are tons of opportunities for kids to try different classes and participate in community events. We moved to Burbank from the east coast, and we were coming from a lovely dance studio that my young girls adored. I was nervous that I would not find another dance studio that was up to par with our old one...until I walked into Garri Dance. Wow! Megan Baade and her team welcomed us with open ballet arms. Not only were they helpful in finding two classes for my girls to attend during the same time, but they also helped my two little girls feel welcome and accepted into a new town, class, and studio! Everyday my three year old begs me to take her to ballet, and smiles at me and says that she loves dance school. My five year old who is shy and introverted has found a way to express her inner creativity and has learned confidence and poise! The teachers couldn't be a better mix of funny, smart, sooo friendly, and uber talented. I love love love this dance studio with all my heart! Leap over now. This place is truly a family. read more

My daughter took the one week summer camp dance workshop (7/09). She then invited a friend and asked me if she could do another week. I said yes and then she asked me if she could do weekly classes throughout the year. I believe this says she REALLY liked it at Garri dance. I am a dance teacher myself for several years at a different dance school so I have very high standards for what I expect a good dance class to look like. My daughter is in both the Budding Ballerinas as well as the Hip-Hopopotamus class and have been going to Miss Stephanie for over a year. My daughter has been Miss Stephanie's student since she first turned 2. Miss Stephanie is one of the best dance teachers that I have ever seen. She not only teaches dance but she teaches how to be kind and respectful of the other dancers in class. When she has an issue with a student she is incredibly patient with the dancers, instead of what I have seen at other classes where they just tell child to leave the class. My daughter LOVES Miss Stephanie and looks forward to every dance class because she knows that she will not only get to do what she loves, which is dance, but she will feel loved by her dance teacher. I love that the parents can't go into the room because if they could all of the children wouldn't participate and just run to their parents every chance they could and would lose focus at what the real goal is. Miss Stephanie expects participation because she knows we all spent the time and money to get our children to her class so she wants everyone to get as much out of it as they can. She is the BEST and I will be so sad when my daughter is grown out of her classes. I could not have wished for a better first dance teacher. I have completely had IT with Garri dance studio!!!! We just had the recital and I was waiting in line and I actually heard the staff bad mouthing the parents with various different insults. This is the worst dance studio one can choose to go to. I usually let things slip my mind but I created a Yelp account just so I can warn others not to go here. I signed up for contemporary jazz for adults and the dance teacher would stand there talking about her adult life (which I had no interest in hearing) to her students since we were all adults as well, literally for like 15 minutes of the beginning of the class. Considering the fact that it is so darn expensive my hour is going to a dance teacher who obviously takes your time so seriously that she plays a psychology patient in class. I had the "three month agreement" which now I know why this exists other wise they would be out of business. People come to class, hate it but oops too late already signed the contract we get 3 months worth of your money! I didn't go for my last month and they refused to give me my money back because all they care about is getting your money but not giving you your money's worth. Unless you feel like watching your dance teacher text message her boyfriend and act like a 14 year old teenager talking about how amazing her boyfriend is, then I would not recommend this trash of a studio they call a dance place. read more

My daughter has attended Garri Dance studio for 2 years and she loves the studio and the teachers! She attended the Summer Camp "So You Think You Can Dance Camp" 2016 and loved it! I am so impressed with the amount of dance and fun activities they did each week with a special performance for the Parents on the Friday's!! Megan and the teachers are amazing!! I greatly appreciate everything they did to show the children how to have fun and dance. My daughter loved it so much that she is taking 3 classes there now. Mrs. Stephanie is such a great teacher and professional dancer! She has a wonderful gift with showing the children quality dance techniques and the children have a fun time learning. My daughter loves and admires Mrs. Stephanie's! My daughter may not be a great dancer (yet) but with Mrs. Stephanie's wonderful guidance she will be! My daughter loves to try her best in her class!!
