He even personally called me before the appointment to welcome us, which is extremely rare, but it was such a personal touch that I appreciated. At our appointment the front office staff was so welcoming. Dr. Kawata took his time explaining in detail the dental care my daughter needs, and did not need. He expressed that if this was his daughter, this would be the plan of care he would take. You can tell he really knows what he's doing and takes great pride in it. I scheduled an appointment for an orthodontist consultation for my son and received countless reminders, emails, texts, and phone calls to confirm the appointment. I completed all the intake forms online ahead of time and even arrived 15 minutes early. At 3:00 PM, I was informed that Dr. Kawata was not ready. They took my son's X-rays, and I was left waiting in the lobby for 25 minutes with no updates or acknowledgment of the delay. Eventually, I decided to leave, and I never received a follow-up call or apology for the inconvenience. This shows a complete disregard for my time, especially as a new patient. When we started here my daughter had a centered gap in between her front teeth. Two years later she had a centered tooth in the front of her mouth. I'm so devastated. Every-time she smiles it makes me mad and angry. When I pointed this out in utter shock at the end of the treatment he pointed out to me that tom cruise also has a centered took in the front. Because every 13 year old girl starts with centered front top teeth and wishes for a centered tom cruise tooth??? Not wanting to embarrass my fragile 13 year old I didn't continue making a big deal about it. There was no transparency. No expectations set here that we would get a one tooth on the middle top. I'm completely outraged. In addition to this, we are still dealing with a billing nightmare because Delta dental said they never received the mail in claim that was sent by the staff over a year by the staff. When we sent it in again recently, delta denied our claim they said sorry too late. It's been over a year. So we lost over 1k there which add major insult to injury. Now I'm going to have to get her teeth looked at somewhere else and redo the process and figure out why my child started with centered front teeth and ended with a tooth in the middle. You don't pay this kind of money to have a worse off smile at the end. It's just tragic. I'm looking forward to hearing back from the office on this. I'll be there Thursday for a consult with my son which was scheduled before seeing my daughter's results. Our youngest and final daughter was ready for braces last year. We were unhappy with our previous orthodontist that handled our other two daughters' braces; so we switched to this office due to a referral. Yelp isn't too big yet in the inland empire, but I'm sure people would give 5 stars across the board because they are so happy with the outcome and treatment they get at Dr. Kawata's office. Dr. Kawata treated my mom, sister, and myself, and we were all extremely happy with the results. Dr. Kawata has the most positive, professional, and calming demeanor. He speaks with the most gentle voice you just want to fall asleep in his chair! He explains procedures thoroughly and in lehman's terms. His staff is super friendly as well, it is always a positive experience at the office. Besides his excellent customer service, his clinical work is top notch. He received his education at USC which is known for it's excellent orthodontic program and teaches there on his off days. This, to me, means he's constantly keeping up with what's new in the field and is constantly educating students and himself. It is obvious to me that in discussing a patient's treatment, he weighs benefits and risks and presents the patient's options, keeping the patient's goals in mind and what is best for the patient. I ended up needing surgery as part of my treatment, and while surgery isn't a pleasant experience, going through it w/ Dr. Kawata made it as good of an experience as it can be. He was very reassuring and I never had any doubts or was really that scared. I am so glad I had it done, it actually changed my life. He has 24 years of experience, I believe. All three had jaw growth issues and all three have been corrected without the need of any complicated and expensive surgery. Dr. Kawata is very knowledgeable. My son has a complicated case of malaligned teeth. We saw several orthodontist before seeing Dr Kawata. Kawata worked with us to get all the necessary information in order to make an informed decision. Once we had all the information he recommended we start with the most conservative approach (and least expensive). In the end this approach worked and we didn't need any of other expensive treatments that were recommended by other orthodontists. All 3 of my kids will be using Dr. Kawata. BEST ORTHODONTIST'S OFFICE ANYWHERE!!! I don't usually go to the effort of posting reviews, in fact this is the first time I've ever done it. But this office has been a tremendous blessing to our family and I want others to know about it! Not only are my kids getting the best possible orthodontic care and treatment, the office is actually a pleasure to visit! My kids look forward to each appointment and ask when they're going again just days after having been in. I look forward to the appointments too because it's like an episode of Cheers "where everybody knows your name...." The staff all know you and chances are you know more than half of the parents in the waiting room! To top it all off, Dr. Kawata hosts a bowling party every summer to thank all his patients. The party is complete with food and PRIZES which my son was thrilled to be the GRAND PRIZE winner just two years ago! I have had nothing but positive experiences with this office. It's a great environment and I'm grateful every day that we chose Dr. Kawata's office! When we think of Dr. Kawata, their are three words that come to mind. Kind, passionate and very professional. Dr. Kawata is a very caring and gentle orthodonist. The last thirty or so years having six children we have had several experiences with different orthodontists. Each had great qualities and my children's teeth were all straightened with braces.
