My Grandfather was here for one week under respite. We will never let him go back to this horrible…read moreplace. While under the care if you can call it that, he must have fallen as when he was picked up we saw a bump/bruise above his eyebrow, then later on at home a bruise on the bicep of his arm. My brother asked upon seeing this why the family was not notified? The worker didn't know much as to why we were not notified and didn't really know what happened. So I filed a complaint. What I was able to find out from the home is that one morning he was found bleeding from his forehead but doesn't seem anything was done at that point, then at another point a nurse noted the bump but We are not sure how she checked him out to make sure he was ok and why neither worker called us the family. The home once they found out I reported them would no longer tell me their findings into their investigation as to why this incident was not handled correctly. They told me AHS could tell me what the fundings were since I had filed the complaint. So not only did the home not call us, our grandfather had hit his head and this can be a serious matter, we have no idea what kind of checkup was done on him after to make sure he had no concussion. The health care industry is so sad. So many older people do not have advocates for them and nothing gets reported. But our Grandfather has advocates and this got reported, sadly I don't think anything will happen to the parties involved who didn't do their jobs. I know it can be hard when you need to place a loved one but please exercise caution if you are going here.

I think they are trying really hard, but it feel it lacking a bit…read more I've been visiting my elderly here for 5 years. The rent goes up every year. It's slightly more than what she collects for a pension. The meals are provided and they are pretty good, but sometimes they are just awful. The staff is very friendly and capable, but when I reported my elderly's diamond ring had gone missing, I got no help. No response. I called for a case conference for my elderly and it was held without me. I wasn't invited. I'm the ONLY kin. I should have been called. Especially due to a hearing issue for my elderly. One day, I lucked out and walked into her room for a visit while the coordinator was having her yearly client conference. I had lots to say and I felt I was heard. The security is lacking. Guests are required to buzz in, but many just walk in. There is some free parking, but often full. I have to pay for street parking. It's pretty clean and cheery, but the thistle grows wild outside. They put on daily programs and invite a podiatrist monthly. There is a chapel on the 2nd floor which doubles for a fitness room and community centre. The weekly room cleaning they provided is barely sufficient. I'd probably be OK with living here in my 90's. I'd just let things roll off my back.

I came here for a tour with my Kiwanis club in the hopes of doing some volunteer work to help out…read more In the process we learned a lot about the facility and all the work they put in to make this facility as good as possible for the residents. While the rooms are small and often include two beds separated by a curtain and are rather small, the facility has some great amenities including a bar, a barber shop/hair salon, many rooms for events and activities, a gorgeous indoor garden, a meditation/spiritual room, and more besides! There are many activities for the residents and their families and lots of community engagement and the facility is very well maintained. Sure the buildings were built quite a long time ago, but there are some great features. We met with one resident who seemed happy and we hope to do more when we visit the facility next.

Since that time she's contracted MSRA, which had to be pointed out to the staff before it was treated. She's contracted pneumonia, which also had to be pointed out to the staff before she was given a chest x-ray and antibiotics. Last week she broke her fibula. No one there knows how she did it. She has lost her ability to walk, because Physio is nonexistent. Her butt is extremely excoriated because she's sitting in a wet diaper for hours on end. She's depressed. I could go on. Care borders on negligence. I wouldn't recommend this facility for anyone that you care about. Staffing is extremely poor. There are 72 patients with only 12 caregivers on days, 7 care givers on evenings, and 4 caregivers on nights.

You must give a full 30 days notice to vacate the lease which is understandable if a person is relocating but in the event of the resident being deceased, it is a cash grab. My mother passed on the 7th of the month and we have to pay a full month to break the lease. Oddly enough they will pro-rate you for a short period to move in. All in all not recommended at all.
