Longtime Customer - Extremely Disappointed with Declining Service…read more I've been a loyal customer of The Boat House for years and have purchased multiple boats from them--always on the promise from management that I'd be taken care of when it came to service and support. Unfortunately, that promise has been completely broken, and the quality of their service department has only gone downhill. Most recently, I brought my boat in for what should have been a simple repair. I was told it would be ready in a week or two, but nearly a month passed with no communication. I had to call repeatedly just to get updates, and every time I spoke with someone, the story changed--parts were ordered, then backordered; the boat was being worked on, then suddenly it wasn't. There was zero consistency and even less transparency. When I finally got the boat back, I was shocked at the condition it was returned in. It was filthy--greasy handprints on the seats, dirty footprints all over the deck, and it clearly hadn't been cleaned or cared for at all. I brought this up with the service department, and all I got was a casual "sorry," with no offer to fix it or make things right. To make matters worse, the original issue I brought the boat in for still wasn't fully resolved--and now there was a new issue that wasn't there before. Again, no urgency, no accountability, and no effort to deliver the kind of service they promise when selling boats. After spending millions of dollars with The Boat House over the years, this experience makes it painfully clear that customer loyalty means nothing to them. I will not be buying another boat from them again, and I strongly recommend that others look elsewhere if they expect any level of professionalism or long-term support.

It was a simple fix "small engine 101 course"- the butterfly was closed the whole time which was why it wasn't getting gas/air/vacuum, it didn't need gaskets ( I always used non ethanol) ,it didn't need to be cleaned in a sonic parts cleaner, it didn't have a blocked exhaust !!!!! They told me it had spark, compression and was getting gas ( which it wasn't) but wouldn't start !!! They ruined all of my winter fishing. They accepted the job, told me it was about an hours labor then I was given so many excuses ie " sales before service", boat show, guys out sick ect. I called weekly and sometimes twice weekly and was told it's next on the list repeatedly. IF you do business with them it's on you, has to be the absolute worst experience I've ever had with any business, I just can't say enough to reflect the incompetence of this outfit. Why can't I give them negative stars !!!!! -5 would be my rating. I don't know if this place is under new management but if you find a good review then it has to be from previous owners or a relative of the new owners.

It started with false advertising, leading to a bait-and-switch. They advertised a Sportsman with a 2019 Yamaha 250... After we started putting the deal together, we discovered that it was really a 2018. The Garmin was advertised as a 12-inch but turns out to be a 10-inch. All the information we had led us to believe a trailer was included. At the close, we found out it was not included. We had been told that they would have the engine records for us, but at the closing they discovered there were none. The financing was bizarre....The finance guy sat there and told me that 10% was a good rate and an $800 payment was good. This after their ad in Boat Trader showed a payment around 350 as doable. After we found that was just more BS we were told "it must be your credit". Don't think so... our credit at that time was over 800. There's more but just know these guys give used car salesmen a bad name.

I had to sell a very sweet fishing catamaran that was sitting at our dock not being used enough. We had loved her, but time had tightened and we had to sell her. I called a few brokers and met some, it was pretty depressing how little I knew and how little confidence they gave me, until I met Henry and Dan. They looked at our boat and after a visual inspection I asked them how much the boat would sell for and they told me flat out $45,000. I arranged for them to pick the boat up and take it to their lot to sell and within 2 weeks they called me with an offer of $45,000. The buyer closed without us even being there, they gave us the bill of sale and and the check and we were done. Well, almost done, now they are going to help us find a new motor for the boat we use more often. I'm not sure this could have been quicker, more professional, straight forward or down right honest than it was. I wish these guys sold real estate!

People first: I was helping my brother-in-law (from SC) shop for a boat. I found Boater's Landing by chance using Boat Trader to come look at used boats for sale (a Trophy with a trolling motor in addition to the main engine, actually a pretty nice used boat but the owner was a little "too proud" of his nicely equipped boat). I had also Googled "Key West" unaware at the time that the boats are made in SC (more on the "product" later). Mark came up to us as we were looking at the used Bayliner Trophy and asked my brother-in-law (B-i-L) what he was looking for. Upon learning the requirements, Mark immediately said "you're looking at the wrong boat" and took us to another boat that was EXACTLY what my brother-in-law wanted. I was immediately impressed that someone could LISTEN to a customers "requirements" and detect the tone of feature emphasis in such a thorough manner. This used boat was fairly priced but ....a little too old. So my B-i-L asked to see what a new boat would look like in comparison. Now for the SECOND time in a row, Mark took us to EXACTLY what my B-i-L wanted. Voila.....behold the Key West 189 FS (FS for Family Sport). PROCESS: When it came time to discuss price and outfitting, Mark explained that the dealership "does not fool around" and that "we start out right" right off the bat. Sure enough, the price quoted (we'd already shopped at few other competitors and knew their pricing style) was extremely fair. Even after my B-i-L sealed the deal, I kept double checking prices and deals online and sure enough, we had been treated VERY FAIRLY. Let me hasten to add that if you are becoming a local boater in the MARVELOUS area of Fort Myers (Sanibel Island, Boca Grande Pass, wow...what a selection of waters to fish in for a "bay boat"), then you WANT a dealer that makes a fair profit so they can stay in business and keep GOOD PEOPLE. Thus, Boater's Landing has a fantastic shop and a very dedicated marine engine repairman (Peter) who like myself is retired military (him USAF, me USN). Peter was effusive as he bragged about his dealership and the high quality of the Key West boats and their Yamaha outboards. Because my B-i-L was going to store the boat in a boat lift on Pine Island, Boater's Landing would deliver the boat to his dock (there is a convenient boat ramp very close by) and come get it for maintenance and repair whenever needed. WHAT A DEAL: first pickup free and then $100 thereafter for a "there and back" pick up and redelivery. My B-i-L has operated heavy equipment professionally and values the merit of routine periodic maintenance and so this service saved him the expense of buying a trailer and the trouble of storing it empty. PRODUCT: We were delighted to discover that Key West is made in SC (at which everyone in Charleston knows is the place where the Ashley and Cooper Rivers JOIN to form the Atlantic Ocean) and their CEO, I say again THEIR CEO, has several YouTube videos showing off how they make the Key West (made in SC....go figure...it's the DESTINATIONS that drive us seaward, not the point of departure). Seriously people, check out those videos to watch professional craftsmen build a quality boat from start to finish. I hope I am able to post some pictures along with this review because I really want to demonstrate the credibility of this review. I am NOT related to anyone at Boater's Landing and this is a real experience (circa early June 2016). None other than John Paul Jones ("father of the Navy") taught us that "no meritorious act" should pass without verbal reward and Boater's Landing has EARNED high praise.
