This was probably the biggest disappointment of all the meals we had during our entire Turkey trip…read more Had seafood here but it was nothing to write home about. Diners seated outside were all smoking so we had to sit indoors and that was a bit annoying as well.

I was disappointed with this place. The mezzes are all right and the fish is fresh, but I found the…read moreservice to be pretty bad. This place has the best fish I've ever eaten in Istanbul. It's a bit tough to get to -- there is a…read morepublic bus, but it's still a walk beyond that, so it's best to go by car. I also suggest that you go with a Turkish friend or two, as the staff doesn't seem very experienced with foreign patrons. They do not serve alcohol, so that means no raki. But don't worry -- you won't need it here. The salads, calamari, scallop, and shrimp dishes were more than enough to satisfy every corner of my stomach. We also ordered a mid-sized fish, which was "en taze" (the freshest) of the day. No worries, you can see the fishing boats parked in the harbor, and you can tell the little fishies came straight from the Black Sea. In terms of views, there is also an amazing castle ruin and many dolphins nearby. I'm told it's also a great breakfast spot. Try to make it out to this secret lokanta, if you can. You won't regret it, even if it's just because you felt as if you left the city for a few hours! PS. Pumpkin/carrot desert with kaymak - to DIE FOR!

Last Friday we were walking around on the Asian side of Istanbul for the day. It kept raining off…read moreon on. At one point around lunchtime it started raining heavily, so we ducked into a nearby cafe for lunch and to hide from the pouring rain. We came here completely by accident, but it was a great accident. The place was fantastic. It was so adorable inside and had a lovely outdoor garden seating area that we could see out the window. It was small but cozy inside. The food was outstanding. I ordered a pineapple lemonade, but just before my lemonade arrived someone at our table received their hot chocolate. The hot chocolate comes out in two cups, one with liquid chocolate at the bottom and the other with hot steamed milk. You pour the milk into the chocolate and stir it. It looked so good that I had to order it in addition to my lemonade. This was wonderful hot chocolate, and very neat! The pineapple lemonade had mint in it and was delicious and refreshing. This was a lovely juice! For my meal I had the vegan sandwich, which was hummus, roasted vegetables, and caramelized onions on a toasted fresh baguette. It came with a small salad. The sandwich was delicious. This meal was one of the highlights of our food week in Istanbul! The service was also good, everyone was friendly and helpful and they spoke English! It was slow, but we were in no hurry to go back out into the rain.
