It's a very convenient train station being in the center of town. Since Lausanne is built on a…read morehill, don't forget to take the elevators inside the station if you have luggage. Much more convenient. You can even take an elevator in the back, which takes you down further on the hill. Also, if you're only in town for a couple of days, there are some very convenient hotels just in front of the station. There's also an elevator on the opposite side of street at the front of the station which will take you downstairs and you can roll your bags into the station under the street. I found the elevators very convenient and a definite plus for stopovers in Lausanne. You can even take a direct high speed train to Paris. If you have an extra few minutes, check out the beautiful cafeteria with the painted wall murals of different cities in Switzerland, which is on the west side of the train station. There's also a great pharmacy, and a COOP supermarket, which is open very late...a lifesaver in Switzerland where everything closes on Sunday.

One of the standout features was the public transportation--everything is incredibly well organized. The train station was easy to locate right from the airport, and getting on board was simple. From there, it's convenient to travel to other major cities without any hassle. Another highlight was the customs process. Going through passport control was quick, modern, and completely touchless, making the entire experience feel seamless and efficient. Overall, Geneva Airport is clean, well-run, and very traveler-friendly. Highly recommend.

Interesting train station but I felt that there was a big lacking of signage of where to go. We…read morecame from France and were passing our way through Geneva to get to Italy. Coming off of our train, we entered a customs area but we weren't sure if we were supposed to exit or find our track and there was no one to ask. I will agree that it may have been because we're novices and I was the only person with any European train experience and I have never had to go though customs to exit a train before and I didn't want to make the wrong move. Luckily, the area we were in had a board with track numbers and once we saw our next train and it's track number we were confident to go through the customs area. Which btw was nothing, just some armed people watching us walk past them. This station is packed so be wary and bon chance!

Minus one star for tourist confusion. I guess they assume that everyone knows what all the numbers & symbols mean. Good luck figuring where to stand. Like other large cities, make a beeline to your seat. Behaviors you will receive scorn for: man spreading, piling your stuff on the seat next to you, otherwise hogging the empty seat. God knows what will happen to you if you litter. Some of the local stops are only announced in Swiss German. Keep a lookout for your destination.

The station is very small with only one shop-and no direct routes to geneva so you have to take two. When you consider how close it is by car its pretty unreal that they haven't figured out a direct route yet especially now gare Eau Vive is closed.
