Ticket machine takes cash but the bill has to be €20 or less. I only had €50 and €100 with me at that time, I had to borrow cash from my colleague. They have free wifi but it was a bit weak. Kept getting logged off but managed to send some emails. Train station was very clean, hardly any people. I really liked the designed of the train station, I spent most of the time taking pictures. Speaking on pictures, I was fortunate enough to catch a glimpse of the Mont Blanc from here. It is believed that if you can see the Mont Blanc clearly, it is about to rain. Sure enough it rained as soon as we arrived at the downtown Lyon. Train ride was comfortable. They have free wifi on the train, got some work done during a short ride.

The kiosks are spread throughout the main floor. There are counter purchase offices at one end on the second floor. Once ticket is purchased you have to keep look at the monitors to know which terminal the train will be. It is usually announced 15-20 minutes prior to departure. Restrooms are available on the second floor for 1 euro paid by credit card. There is some seating there but not too much in the whole train station. It still amazing how many trains travel through there.

While on the platform you need to look at one of just a few tv screens to see where your numbered car will line up on the lettered platform.

First class seats are upstairs. Stairs to the first class seats are wide and not steep! Usually, I don't like facing backwards, but this is so smooth, I am not feeling any nausea while riding backwards.

Coming off of our train, we entered a customs area but we weren't sure if we were supposed to exit or find our track and there was no one to ask. I will agree that it may have been because we're novices and I was the only person with any European train experience and I have never had to go though customs to exit a train before and I didn't want to make the wrong move. Luckily, the area we were in had a board with track numbers and once we saw our next train and it's track number we were confident to go through the customs area. Which btw was nothing, just some armed people watching us walk past them. This station is packed so be wary and bon chance!

The station is very small with only one shop-and no direct routes to geneva so you have to take two. When you consider how close it is by car its pretty unreal that they haven't figured out a direct route yet especially now gare Eau Vive is closed.
