I grew up in Glendora, and Runnemede (ie - "little Philly), is the neighboring town, where I frequented a lot at my good friend's house. Gardner is the usual funeral home used by many of my family, friends and neighbors. I think it's because of the location. To me, it can't be much else. This is your "typical" yuck factor funeral home in my opinion. Ugly, outdated, wallpaper and a funky stench, with just a touch of creepy & coldness in the air. I took a mint after our first "stop" and it was actually a soft, nasty/stale candy instead. I spit it in the trash. The one employee didn't know where my friend, the DAUGHTER of the deceased, was and looked at me clueless. Not good AT ALL. It's nice that they have tissue boxes a-plenty and I believe, small water bottles as well. The only decor, if you will, that I liked, was the cage of cute finches. read more

It's taken me some time to post. But feel I have too. Very disappointed with the way they handled my daughters send off. Split family, they favored the mothers side. Who the mother did not raise her, my daughter lived with her mother only when she was an adult. The mother put not one $1 up. I put $7000 deposit and my side of the family was treated very poorly. And to think we made them change funeral homes. Just beware who you do business with. read more

This place is AMAZING! Just buried my father-in-law today. Gary was our funeral director. He went above and beyond. From the minute we walked in we were treated flawlessly. So empathetic. So caring. I was expecting to be upsold, but there was no pressure. They did so many thoughtful caring things to make a very difficult experience almost pleasant. They took us from a point of grief and shock to feeling that we had really honored and celebrated him in the way that he deserved. This place is the best! I will be recommending this place to anyone who needs it. (I had heard so many stories about funeral homes ripping you off at a time of grief and vulnerability, and this was the complete opposite - it felt like being cared for by family. ) read more

While trying to process the sudden loss of my father Nick was compassionate and patient with us. Gary could not have been more helpful when our luncheon was cancelled due to a power outage in the middle of the funeral. He worked hard to find another venue with no notice to accommodate our many friends and family members to have a much needed meal after an emotional morning. I cannot speak highly enough of the professionalism and curtesy of all the staff we encountered at Gardner. read more

They were fine until they found out I had no life insurance on my wife. Then they threw us to the curb. They called me up and told me to come pick up the remains. She had been cremated. We were now in charge of everything including setting up the church, and paying the church. They washed their hands of everything. Then they threw a bill at me for over 2k. That is with a $1,000 deposit. For what? For cremating her? They are crazy. They told me I could pay them monthly. But, do not miss a payment or I will be sent to collections. Real nice after I lost my wife of almost 27 years. And my kids lost their mother. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Unless, of course, you have money. read more

Liars. Forced us to embalm telling us it was a NJ state law. We could have just refrigerated. Terrible to discuss but just be aware. We had no public viewing. State law is here... Embalming and the Preservation of Remains Embalming is not required in the state of New Jersey, but some funeral homes may require it for a public viewing. New Jersey's health laws do require that bodies be buried, cremated, embalmed or refrigerated within 48 hours after death. read more

Gardner's has taken care of My grandfather's service and burial 20 years ago, my grandmothers cremation and viewing 2 years ago, and 3 months ago took care of my mothers cremation. Gardner's has been nothing but sweet, kind, and respectful of my family. Funds were tight and they have not hounded us, as others have said, for payment. They actually haven't bothered us at all. Still after 3 months I owe them and they haven't bothered me and still are super sweet and nice when calling about balance due. The funeral service and viewing 20 yrs ago for my gdad was beautiful, my grandmothers private viewing 2 yrs ago was nice as well, and my mother didn't want any of that. Gardner's was great about us getting our urns and urn jewelry from outside vendors, and once dropped off they were quick to complete so we could have our loved ones. Gardners was also very understanding and explained things, and options , and next steps to take. They even gave us a beautiful basket with laminated cards and a lovely candle with my mom's picture on it. I highly recommend Gardner's. I know a few people have commented on the facility not up to date or having issues with payments. The facility is beautiful and honestly its not about the facility... its about your loved ones. Gardners has done right by me and my family and our lost loved ones. Thank you Gardner Family! read more
