I stopped in this afternoon, a cool fall day, and I bought a bunch of all-natural honey directly from Fieldstone Apiaries. The farm is close to the metro (just south of Lakeville), and they're conveniently located only a couple of minutes from Highway 35. I purchased 3 boxes of honey in-the-comb for snacking. I also bought 2 gallons of raw, unfiltered, unpasteurized honey - yum! I'm using this for a possible Cottage Foods project that I'm experimenting with. I got a small 2 ounce sample of Buckwheat Honey too. It's very dark & strong...not for everyone but I love it. Comparing Buckwheat Honey to regular "wildflower" honey is a bit like comparing Bud Light to a Guinness Stout. The owners, Dale and Elli, are very nice people. Dale gave me the five cent tour of his extracting operation - very cool! I really appreciate Dale spending so much time with me after my little 100 dollar purchase. Fieldstone Apiaries is mostly a residential home with a large shop where all of honey processing and storage takes place. Since this is a home, you definitely want to be respectful and contact the owners before showing up at their doorstep. Thank you, Fieldstone Apiaries! -Daddy Maxx Retro

If you have kids they're going to love Nelson Farm. There are many areas for them to have…read moreadventures such as a train ride around the farm & several outdoor games are set up as well. There are pony rides available for a fee if you didn't include rides with your purchase ticket. There are also plenty of farm animals out to feed or look at such as pigs cows, guinea hens, turkeys, chickens. They also have a few food trucks that serve hamburgers, hotdogs, corn dogs, french fries, drinks, mini donuts, cotton candy. Most of this is very reasonably priced for a pumpkin patch l. I think hamburgers and hotdogs were $5 ***BUT THE FOOD IS CASH ONLY . A bag of donuts was five dollars and a small bucket was 14 with refills of $10 I believe (I could be incorrect here though) we went on military day (ID card holder gets in free) and bought all inclusive tickets. Be aware this is a farm. Do not dress up in your best outfits or nice shoes. **Play clothes and boots that can get muddy are the best option. Again, I remind you that this is a farm, and you may see a mouse or two and the play equipment is play equipment that sits out on a farm. ** I only mention this because I don't want you to be surprised or shocked when you get here and it's not elaborate or squeaky clean. Everyone was there it was having a good time. The kids were playing & my kids very much enjoyed their time there. The staff also does a pumpkin trebuchet toss. They do you have a little gift shop which feature some very reasonably priced local honey, quiltwork, mugs with farm logo on it (cute) and sweatshirts etc. And finally yes, they do sell pumpkins. There is a pumpkin patch there. However, we already had pumpkins from a different farm visit a few weeks ago so we did not visit their pumpkin patch in particular and I am not familiar with the pricing. From what I saw the pumpkins looked healthy.

We visited a Saturday when they open at 4 and got there just a few minutes before they opened. There were a few other parties and the parking slowly started to fill over the first hour or so. Apparently the wait for pizza can get up to two hours so arrive early and make a day/evening of it. It's a farm so expect rustic. After driving down a dirt road and parking in a field you make your way to the barn to order. Other items to note are porta potties, farm animals and trails. They are a clean farm so you bring in everything (drinks, sides, plates, napkins) and take everything out...including the pizza boxes that they serve your pizza in. All the info says to bring your own chairs/tables as well. They do have plastic tables and lots of folding chairs that must be for events because they don't set them up. We forgot our chairs so opted for one of the two picnic tables that says they are available for parties of 8 or less but felt like we got some side eye and then we we're actually called out on it by the owner to other customers which was sort of odd. So definitely bring your chairs/tables/blankets. Onto pizza...it's delicious. We've now tried the Lola, mn mess and pig and pork and all are amazing. This pizza is delicious and the experience is just unique enough to make it worth the drive. Pizza: 5/5 Setting: 5/5 Service/hospitality: 3/5
