I liked that she didn't make me feel silly for asking what I thought were really basic questions about flowers. Her quote for my bouquet was very reasonable, within the top three from the ten shops I enquired to. I didn't end up going with this florist, so I cannot comment on the service, but I have since brought the odd bouquet. The flowers are always rich in colour and fragrance, and last for ages.

Took all of about ten minutes on a fairly busy day. As I mentioned, they also have gifts and soft toys, so if you're putting together a bit of a package of flowers and gifts, this is a good place to get everything. Good place.

Couple Bayden and Charlotte runs the business together at Rose st artist market on weekends but I first saw them at the Melborne Finders Keepers market, and boy did they make an impression. What makes their terrarium different for me is the size! They go from your usual jars, the playground size - which is still a giant spherical bowl that would be big enough for most apartment living room to the giant- which is just that- giant spheres. Check out the website or visit them at the market for an idea of the size. But! The best thing about them is the fact that their terrariums can be custom ordered and are completely self sustained. No need to water them, just set and admire. Can't go wrong. They are perfect if you don't have a green thumb or you go away a lot. They are gorgeous and definitely make a focal point. I'm already saving up for my second terrarium, and this time I am going Giant!!!

They have a vast selection of roses from standards to climbing, fruit trees grafted and dwarfs, ornamental trees, herbs, vegetables, annual and perennial flowers, succulents, ferns, indoor plants, seeds, soil, sand, compost, mulch, ornaments and so much more we haven't even explored yet. The staff are helpful, extremely knowledgeable and pleasant to deal with. I'm looking forward to going back once our wallet recovers from this weekend.

Kew Nursery is a really popular location for locals old and young in the Kew area. Everyone can appreciate beautiful plants and flowers, and everyone likes having a hot chocolate. While Kew Nursery may not have as broad a range of plants as other gardening centres like Bulleen Art and Garden, it does have really great vegetable section and some beautiful native shrubs and small trees. The staff are all really helpful but sometimes it can be hard to pin one down when its busy, that's the only problem I've had. I really like coming here because not only do I get to exhaust myself walking around and discovering some new species I previously hadn't seen, but I then get to head off into the café and enjoy a coffee and serve of eggs benedict ($13). Heaven.

Cloudehill Gardens & Nursery in Olinda are so beautiful you will be blown away. The nursery is…read morelocated next to the entrance of the gardens and is quite small but has a great variety of colourful pots and ornaments. See photos. Admission prices are very cheap with $7.50 for adults, $5 for concession, $4 for kids and $20 for families. There are over twenty different garden compartments to explore so make sure you hold onto the map provided because this place is very easy to get lost in. I felt as though I had entered the secret garden when I first entered. There were tall perfectly manicured hedges, fountains and colourful flowers everywhere. My favourite part was a field of wild daffodils, which had been allowed to sprawl over a section of grass. It looked beautiful. I also really liked the bluebells that lined the path in another section further down the garden. While popular, the gardens are big enough to explore without seeing many people on your way. There is also the option to explore another section called The Rangeview Gardens where you will find a gorgeous look out over the Dandenongs. The first time I visited I didn't realise there was a map in the brochure I was handed at the reception cottage (where you pay your admission) and I wandered straight down to the Rangeview Gardens thinking it was Cloudehill. The difference is that the Rangeview Gardens are wild and overgrown and there is even a section of dead looking trees that looked pretty spooky. I saw a Lyrebird down there though, which was pretty exciting. Afterwards I walked back the way I came and missed all the beautiful sections of the Cloudehill part. That was very disappointing when I realised my mistake. The gardens are quite large and to see everything you will be doing a lot of walking so make sure you wear good walking shoes that you don't mind getting muddy, particularly if you go after it has been raining. The gardens are open from 10am-5pm every day of the week so get down there- they are absolutely incredible.

Presti Nursery is a little-known gem of a place on Ferntree Gully Road. Tucked away amongst a strip…read moreof houses most people drive past and miss out on the great service available there. It is run by people who absolutely adore their jobs. The owner was quite old when I was regularly going there about ten years ago and I went today and he was still there - zooming around in his electric wheelchair. There is nothing that will separate him from his nursery and his enthusiasm is catching. Customer service here is amazing and any question you have related to gardening will be answered in detail with 100% surety by the staff. They have been in business for years and years and it is clear to see why. The signage hasn't been replaced or updated for quite a few years and is looking pretty worn but don't let that deter you. There is a huge range of plants and seedlings available as well as all the essential fertilizers, rodent pesticides and weed killers. Their plants have always been good value and have always done well when I have followed the planting and care directions provided for each. This nursery is a great business to visit - and I would go there simply for the encouraging atmosphere, let alone the great prices. Check them out.
