After about 24 months of progress, Dr. Hummert finally declared that my daughter's set of teeth is in the best possible positions. I have to agree when looking at her (my daughter) bright happy smile. Without a doubt, we'd made the right choice going to Dr. Hummert after interviewing four other orthodontists in the neighboring areas. Equipped with a minimal knowledge only speaking to other parents and doing some limited internet research about orthodontics, we relied heavily on those interviews to gauge if my daughter would be a right fit with the doctor and vice versa. Interestingly, one doctor wanted to charge a fee for the interview, I simply declined. Another doctor seemed to be a very nice person, but his staffs at the reception were exceptionally rude. A third doctor seemed also very nice, but getting to her office after school was a traffic nightmare because of a longer distance to travel. And the next doctor seemed to keep wanting to go somewhere else even though we'd set up the interview a week beforehand. The last doctor we interviewed has the same problem. One of his staff members was literally giving it to us when we (unfortunately) showed up five minutes late for the interview. I did call to let them know we were running late but I guessed it was not good enough. I simply could not imagine how they would treat us if we actually were their client.
I have no reservation recommending Dr. Hummert not just because of how bad my other interviews of other doctors turned out to be, but because of what Dr. Hummert was able to offer. She cares. During the interview, she explained to us what to expect, how long it will take, what is possible, how much it will cost, what choices we have, etc. She took her time to talk to us and we totally appreciated that. My daughter was put at ease with this "stranger" (meeting for the first time), and it made the whole process so much easier afterward. During the course of the treatment, the office staffs were very friendly and accommodating, and yet professional.
If I needed to find an orthodontist starting from zero again, I would pick the same doctor every time. I strongly suggest anyone who is considering orthodontic treatment to interview at least a couple other doctors. Pick the one you and your child are most comfortable with, and I won't be surprised if Dr. Hummert ends up as your top pick. read more
