The paths are all gravel, so it is an easy place to take pushchairs or wheelchairs. Admittedly the scenery is not amazingly interesting, but the full route takes you past some fields (often with sheep) and the pools themselves. The route is cleverly constructed so you can do the full circuit (about 45 minutes), or you can cut back and do shorter ones. There is a small shop and visitor centre, and a cafe with lots of outdoor tables - though this has fairly limited opening hours. A very popular place to take kids out to get a bit of fresh air and exercise!

They have a bar upstairs in the right hand side building which has a few flat screens around so when football is on you get a good view.Prices are quite high though. Below this is a sports hall which is used for badmington and on most weekday nights is for 5 a side football. The hall is divided into 3 courts so 3 football matchs can take place at one time. The games are really good fun and fast paced. They also have decent referees here as well. Many places like this have poor refs, but not here. The other building on the left has a bar area at the back of the hall. They also have fully netted football pitches, which are also used for womens netball. When used as football pitchs they are very narrow and small but you can get about 5-6 games being played at once. These are not very nice to play in as the goals are really tiny and you can get caught in the side mesh, many times have i seen bleeding fingers which have been caught. The good thing here is that there is ample parking for loads of cars. Prices are quite steep but your team is paying for the facility use and the referees too. But divided between 5-7 players it works out to be £5 roughly each per match per week. You sometimes are given the option for a friendly too , as other teams sometimes dont turn up, but that is occasional.

The train wasn't running when we were there, but that looks like excellent fun. Great facilities, with a tidy cafe, toilets and loads of picnic tables. If you are looking for something cheap (only £2 to park) to do with the kids on a dry day, then this is highly recommended. No idea how you would get there if you didn't have a car though.

However, if memory serves correctly, these areas are slightly disrupted by telephone pylons and electricity pylons, which although necessary, slightly take away from the natural scenery. There is a small gift shop which has a lovely collection of things and they obviously seem to offer a great schools programme since there are education rooms and areas decked out for large groups, including parties. Worth a walk if you are bored.

As you walk round there are always birds singing. there are a number of hides where you can sit and watch the birds on the pools. There a number of different pools and different birds.
