We were visiting from Knoxville on a Friday night and had a wonderful experience. Friendly, quick service, delicious food, beautiful decor custom made for Garcías. We had the guacamole with our chips, their take on guacamole was tasty. We ordered vegetable fajitas and tacos de carne asada, both were delicious. Xango and flan for dessert were just right. Service was top-notch. Friendly, not overbearing. Ambiance was typical for this type of restaurant. The food was delicious and meeting all requirements for a testy Mexican restaurant. Ordered fajitas today and was very disappointed. We got the chicken and steak and the pieces were so small, over cooked and dry and there were more onions and peppers than meat. The meat was not cut into strips and looked like it came from rat. No flavor to the meat either. Will not return here. Food is old and nasty. read more

Tony and I was traveling in the area for the day on one of hiking adventures. We stopped in this unique small town and found this restaurant. Hard to see from the main road, luckily Tony saw it. I was busy driving looking for something on the main drag..but this one is located off Rt 127 in a shopping center behind the bank. We went in and the place was not that busy. The waitress asked us how many in our party and then said Seat Yourself anywhere. So we chose a colorful booth about halfway back..not too close to the door and not too close to the kitchen either. The decore was typical..nothing fancy. Our waitress asked for our drink order. I took a soda and Tony took a sweet tea..we were informed that we were in a dry county so NO BEER FOR TONY...lol !!! Tony ordered the Shrimp Chimi with side of beans and rice..and I chose the pick two combo with crispy taco and tostado with beans and rice...we asked for some spicier salsa the one that they brought us was good but no heat at all. She gladly and quickly brought the new salsa...not to bad..definitely not like the previous one..I found by mixing them together I got the best flavor..still had to add some hot sauce off the table to give me the right balance of heat. I love this restaurant and it is ran by authentic owners. I'm pretty picky about Mexican food but I've never had a bad meal. The employees are very good and work well together. My drink is always topped off and the food has been great. The chimichanga salad is my go to for lunch or dinner. My only complaint is that I can't get fresh lime for my meals. That's a minor thing and I highly recommend eating here. The owners are very pleasant and it is very clean. read more

Being the only Mexican restaurant other than Taco Bell isn't a good thing. Coming from Colorado, we had a wide selection of Mexican food and it's not that Garcias is a bad restaurant whatsoever, it just seems like a change of pace for what we are used to. The chili Rellenos weren't bad it was just strange to have queso smothered over them. The other dish we had was a enchilada supreme which was fairly strange having beef in one of the enchiladas and beans in the other. Again it's not something I'm used to but if you put beans in a so-called enchilada isn't that a burrito? I'm sure there are some dishes that I will like it's just going to take me a few times To get used to this type of Mexican dishes. read more

The reason I only gave it 3 stars is. -1 for waiting at the door when the table was ready the minute we walked in. -1 for everything we needed or wanted we had to wait and catch the waitress when she walked by. Recently revisited Garcia's after a few months. My husband and I sat for one hour before relieving our cold soggy plates. Again terrible service, so that was the same, no apology for the wait or disgusting food. We both actually felt terribly ill for two days after, causing my husband to take the following day off work. Come to find out, friends of ours were there the same day and one was I'll as well the following day. Very disappointed bc we loved our first time eating there, minus the poor service. Maybe just the weekday cooks know what they are doing, bc I'll certainly say the weekend cooks are not up to par. read more

Service has really gone down hill this past year. The food has also been sub par lately. Last 3 times we went we had to go and find our waitress because she was in the back busy talking with the other waitresses. Very rare that a waitress will come see if you need a refill. Your customers shouldnt have to wait 20 minutes to get a waitress' attention to bring your check, especially during lunch time when people need to get back to their jobs. They need someone at the register to act as a seating hostess and cashier, because the waitresses are all in back chatting with each other if there is no food to bring out. This is very disappointing because they are the only mexican restaurant in town, but I will probably drive to Crossvile or Cookeville from now on. 0 stars! read more

Came here for a family function. The wait time was a little long . Our server, Ofelia, was very nice. I ordered the mixed fajitas and they were delicious. Jamestown TN is very small, thus the non-fast food choices are limited. Garcia's is a very workable option. Although not unlike countless other Mexican restaurants around the US, a couple of things stood out. Both the chips and the salsa were much better than average. And while the enchilada I had was just ok, the avacado salad was very fresh and flavorful. This place is recommended. read more

For a small town this place is great. It is very Americanized Mexican food. The carne asada tacos I asked for the authentic way(soft corn tortilla, queso fresco, onion,cilantro,lime,avocado,and grilled onions) were pretty good. I really live their fajita plate and their burritos. I do enjoy their American beef tacos too. Their salsa and queso and guacamole is always great. Chips are usually fresh. Had high hopes for this small, Mexican restaurant. Unfortunately, was not impressed at all. I will say ahead of time we were there during what seemed to be very much the peak hour (dinner time, arrived there about 5). Once we finally ordered, it took almost an hour to get our food. It's a good thing we had nowhere to be. Not sure I'll come here again, but if so I'd def make sure to call ahead & see how busy. We are from out of town but come here to our cabin regularly, we also go to Garcia's regularly also. Out of the many Mexican restaurants we have been to, this is truly the best! It seemed good on first entrance. Then we were seated and got our chips and salsa which were pretty good and after that it went way down hill. Service took forever waited thirty minutes for them to take our order then waited an hour for our food. We were in a group of three and only one of our orders were correct. I have been to this restaurant several times as my family is from Jamestown and I go every time I am in town. I was surprised by the low ratings since I love to go there. I especially like the pork dishes and fajitas. It is usually crowded on the weekends and very popular. I have never had any dishonest encounters here. Try the enchiladas rancheros!
