After accidentally bending the top bar of my garage door and not being able to close it automatically for a couple of weeks, I decided to give this guys a call. Eddie showed up when they said he will, took a look, and gave me a very reasonable quote. He ordered the parts, came back the next day, and had it fixed in less than 2 hours. I was hesitant at first because others had told me it was going to be expensive to fix it. However, these guys made me regret not calling sooner. Highly recommend them. read more

It's very sad that Garage Doors and Gates 4 less is so unreliable! I had an appointment today in Marina Del Rey from 9-11 am for an estimate ... knowing that I would be driving 2 hours into town to meet their estimator, I called yesterday to re-confirm. At 10:30 I called to see where their guy, Daniel or Erik, was and I was told no one was going to meet me onsite... that Daniel had called in sick ( and no one was rescheduled to meet me ). Reliability and dependability is everything to me when it comes to contractors, as I own dozens of properties throughout SoCal.... I will not be using them in the future and recommend against scheduling an estimate with them as they just might leave you hanging .... read more

Garage Doors & Gates 4 Less - Thumbs down! Not reliable! - Garage Door Services Near Me - Van Nuys, California

I had 6 garage door companies quote and "Garage Doors & Gates 4 less" had the best pricing, the most professional rep and quote experience. The install is exactly the look I was going for. Good install quality, classy look, friendly installers, and the motors are super quiet. I've been getting compliments for weeks now from neighbors I've never even met. A nice surprise was the quality of the technology in the package. My new belt driven motors came with bluetooth, App technology and best of all cameras that automatically keep an eye on the comings and goings in my garage. It's hard these days finding and dealing with various contractors, its a real a shady business, exponentially so in garage doors but "Garage Doors & Gates for Less" is the exception, a very refreshing focus on good customer service which I really appreciated; Erik and their team are the real deal, incredibly kind and trustworthy people. I would not hesitate to use them again! Photos attached. read more

***Update*** Add a sixth star! After a few weeks the garage door started making a nasty squeal as it went up and down. We called and explained. The next day a tech came out, spent less than 10 minutes lubing and checking adjustments. It has been perfect since then. Thanks again! read more

Called and requested a quote to install 2 side mount garage doors openers. Was given a rough quote of $750ea. When the written quote came through it was now $1790. We inquired what the additional $290 was for they played dumb and acted like they didn't formally quote us at all. They re-sent the quote but it was now for $2390! They tried to claim this was the only quote they gave us until we showed them a screen shot of the quote for $1790. When called out for this their explanation was that the initial quote was discounted on the assumption that we were getting doors installed too. I asked why the doors weren't on that same quote to justify the imaginary discount and she had no explanation. I went on to inquire about a breakdown of the quote, noting that retail for the parts was $1050, implying labor for a couple hour job would be $1340. She said "we have no breakdown it's all one price." Wouldn't verify hourly rates or time estimates. Very argumentative and aggressive. Needless to say we decided not to proceed. read more

We had a wonderful experience with Garage Doors and Gates 4 Less. Erick came out the same week I called for an estimate, was prompt and timely. The price was significantly lower than every other company I called. Erick ordered the door I selected quickly and it was installed the following week. Erick kept me updated throughout the process, letting me know when the installer was on his way and when he would be finished. Communication was stellar and they were a pleasure to work with. Highly recommend! read more

Same as a previous review. Made an appointment and they were a no show. Called 3 times to find out what was going on, each time the receptionist said she would check and call me right back...and never did. The last time I just didn't bother calling them back again. Got a text from the estimator after 9pm apologizing for a misunderstanding. Does that explain why the receptionist totally blew me off and didn't call me back 3 times over a 2 hour period while we were waiting around for them? Not a contractor I would ever consider using if that's how they treat their customers. read more

We called Garage Doors 4 Less and they came out so quickly! Eddie was very helpful and did the job efficiently and all while wearing a mask. He kept the space clean and did a thorough job. He interacted with all of the homeowners professionally and answered any questions they had. The invoice was sent by email in order to save paper which is appreciated. He noticed the Motor cover was off and added two bolts in order to keep it in place. read more

My first call was when our gate stopped working during the rains one night. We called Garage doors and Gates 4 less, and they were nice enough to come the same night. The person who came didn't know much about gate, and only helped me to manually close it. He charged $95. Few days later, I made another appointment to come fix the gate. A technician named River came, and gave me two options. One to change the entire system and that it will cost around $3200 and second to change the control board for $1000. So I asked him to change the control board. He wanted half the payment upfront, so I gave $500 check. Couple days later, he came back with the control board and it didn't work. He said that the board might be faulty, and that he would order another one. He ordered another one couple days later, and that didn't work either. He pretty much told us that there is nothing much he can do, and that he will mail back the check (the check was already debited from our account). More than 3 weeks passes by and we don't receive a check. I call them, and they did not process anything. This is where you would think they would have a professional courtesy to mail the check back. After couple phone calls, they are now mailing a check for $215. They kept $380 for not fixing anything. Until I heard about how much money they are going to hold back, I was still going to ask them to change the entire System. But now I will have to go with someone else. Hopefully this review will help them to be more professional on handling customers. Especially charging them hundreds of dollars for not fixing anything. read more

This was a two-step process. I signed up for the special price through Angie's List. That triggered a phone call from Maria, who professionally scheduled a visit by Darren to evaluate my garage door needs, measure, etc. I decided to upgrade to a better door, opener, hardware, etc. It took about three weeks to make the door to order. I received an E-mail from Maria about a week prior to installation, so I knew that the door install was about a week away (a nice heads-up!). Maria also called to confirm the install date, and two installers, Juan & Nicholas, arrived at the quoted time window. They went directly to work on the old door removal and new door install. These guys were terrific, clean, professional, and craftsmen. Their workmanship was top-notch! I heartily recommend this business and their garage door products and installation to anyone in need of a new garage door. Well done! read more

The garage door looks great. Larry and Oscar did a great job assembling and were very professional. Only issue was that the door ended up taking 8 months to be delivered. Covid was going on, which is why they would say it would take 6 months. However, it ended up being an additional 2 month wait because some part was missing. Once it was delivered it was installed the same day and has been working great. However, the glass windows that came with it were cracked. I had to wait an additional 2-3 months for the new glass to be delivered. Once it was, they were installed perfectly by Larry and Oscar. All in all, Im happy with how it turned out and Larry and Oscar were great. read more

While we originally though of getting a standard color Clopay double-wide for a garage re-build (bad wood), when our technician came out with all the samples and types, we found we could upgrade to a much better color match for a minor cost increase, and demonstrated the difference between trying to re-paint a door yourself versus when the factory bakes on the finish. And in examining our project, he also recommended a better insulation model since we were going to all the trouble to re-build all the walls and add windows. This wasn't anything like an up-sell, or pushy sales; it was genuinely interesting to learn what all these different options and models can do, and fit everything within our modest budget. We ordered a 2-ply custom color and they were ready for install in just 3 weeks from the visit. What made GD4L really shine is that they helped support our ever-creeping final inspection date because we were renovating a 100-year old garage that needed lots of infrastructure-related changes to meet current code. Even though we ended up changing delivery and install 3 times with them, they made the changes effortlessly and kept our custom order safely warehoused through the holiday season, and even now with all the rains. Since we intend to add electrical later on, we went instead with a manual-operated door (with the usual T-lock sans opener motor,) but GD4L did such a great job balancing the weight of this probably 400+ lb. door, it opens and closes with a simple nudge both directions. Amazing work! After calling around to the heavily advertised places on TV, who seemed more interested in lead-generation than actually making sales (you can tell by some of their websites, they don't even allow you to describe your project - they just want your contact info,) it's really refreshing to find a local business that does everything the TV-famous places do, and goes the extra mile to make everything perfect - regardless of how imperfectly our project plans went. They also provide repairs and fixes for existing gates, garages and fencing, so they're at the top of my list for our future needs and ambitious projects to come. Meher K really demonstrates why our local businesses really are better! read more

I was looking to replace my garage door and opener and so got a few quotes on the Clopay door I wanted. These guys gave me the best quote on exactly what I wanted and were very responsive. The order process was very smooth - they sent me an invoice online. Once I paid the deposit, I was given an ETA of when my door would arrive, and then about 2 weeks before the due date, they called me to let me know my door would be coming early and schedule installation. Installation went well and the door looks great. I had a couple of issues post-installation that I wanted them to adjust and they got back to me very quickly and River came out to fix things. I highly recommend Garage Doors & Gates 4 Less. read more

Extremely professional and curious service. I'd definitely recommend them to anyone in need of a new garage.

Landlords - if you need a company that "Makes It Happen" repairs and coordinates with tenants, this is the one! Normally, I have to follow up and do all the leg work when getting repairs accomplished, from confirming a time and getting the right quote for repairs. Garage Doors & Gates 4 Less did it all for me and came in with a reasonable price too! read more

It was the second time I used this company. The first one was to install a garage opener system and this last time was to replace the spring that got damaged. FAIL: they sent out technician to fix a Marantec opener that was malfunctioning. Reported back "Technician found that the garage door opener needs to be replaced". They suggested a new chain drive Liftmaster be installed for $785.00 which is a downgrade from the current quality German made Marantec super quiet belt driven opener. Since the opener was not that old, I called the company that originally installed it and they repaired it with new wiring and sensors (I had suspected the sensors were the problem to begin with) in about an hour and a half. It's up and running now perfect. read more

Just had my garage door replaced. Extremely satisfied. Excellent service provided by Erick (owner).

I am an architect that referred our client to install a new garage door in their remodel in South Pasadena. We had a pretty good service for our garage door. Maria, River and Eddy were very helpful in getting us some help. Over the past week we had issues with the door, but they were prompt and had technicians to try to fix the garage door that came undone. We are crossing our fingers that it is fixed, but for the most part customer service is very responsive and thoughtful. The door looks great, but the next time we call for a repair, we know they will come through. read more

My husband and I highly recommend Garage Doors for Less. We went to the show room and met with Erik. He showed us samples and thoroughly explained the difference in products and answered our questions about insulation for our property location. He came to our home the same week for final measurements and a quote. Dennis and Ricardo were the installers. They showed up on time as promised and were very professional to work with. They wanted to make sure specific hardware was installed exactly where we wanted it. They were at our home about 4 hours. They cleaned up and hauled away the old door and old hardware. read more

Be very careful. These bozos will sign a contract, take your money, and then have no-English-speaking installers show up with product not produced according to the contract. They will then try to harass you by making up new rules of the game by saying that you must accept what they just defecated and wait to see if it can be modified to fall with the contractual guidelines. Then a nasty lady at the office will lie and tell you that you must review the contract because the product was produced according to contractual dictates. Of course, they will not reimburse you because they will insist that THEIR big mistake is the fault of the customer. But, the credit card issuer immediately saw through their blatant lies by just reading the contract and verifying the defectively produced doors which were just shoved through their back door and brought to my home for their Spanish speaking installers to install and play dumb with me. They made no effort to show that quality control was a part of their operation. And, of course, they demonstrated a very tangentially casual relation with the truth. I was treated like a sleazy ghetto rat. read more

2nd time they have been out. Work has been good BUT when service guy did his thing inside garage while I was outside and then came out with a $800 bill I was surprised. Never gave me an estimate, he replaced 2 springs at $305 each. $190 in labor, less than an hour. I made calls to other companies and am confident that I was overcharged for the springs. I'm sorry that I cannot support this local business any more. Have to click one star to post this but would click none if I could read more

If I could give this business a -5, I would. We had a TERRIBLE experience with this company and their Customer Service is the worst. My co-worker called for service on one of our industrial gates and the person who was "dispatched" for this particular job never showed up - like day after day after day. We specifically gave him and "Angie" our business ours and they just had excuse after excuse. Finally after numerous times of attempting to get someone out my manager just said let's cancel this for now because at this rate our gate would never be fixed. We had already submitted payment WHICH was already deposited, so I personally called today to see if we can finally have someone come out and provided the services we paid for... 8:00am - I personally call in to see if we can have someone come out today BEFORE 2:30pm and take a look at our gate & fix some locks. Angie answers, takes all my information down and tells me that whoever is available for dispatch will call me and give me an eta. 8:30am - A gentleman calls me and says he is at home, they don't open until 9am, that he personally didn't want to come out to this job because someone from our company was rude (LIE). I ask who will be coming out?, why I wasn't told they weren't opened yet?, and when I should be expecting a call. He tells me they don't open until 9:00am and that a manager will call and give us an eta. 9:30am - NO CALL YET. I call back - Angie answers (WITH AN ATTITUDE) saying that the manager is currently not in, he is out giving a quote. I ask when we will have an eta? when approximately we will get a call back. She says " I don't know", "I already told you he was out", "He'll call you back". I kindly say " well I don't know why there's any attitude, we paid for a service which was suppose to be provided days ago and now we are just getting the run around. Her RUDE response " I don't have an attitude" (GUILTY) " we know you already paid but I already told you whenever our manager gets in he'll call you back". I say okay and end this convo. 11:30am - STILLLL NO CALL BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I call .... Guess who answers???..... ANGIE ( back at it again with the attitude). I say I'm calling for an update. RUDELY answers " Yes, we know you've called three times, and the manager is still not here" I keep my composure and say well can we speak to anyone else? She says no Darren is the only one you can speak too, Giving all the attitude in the world. My manager takes over tries to get thru to someone else and Angie was just not having it, being extremely rude - my manager just hung up. 1:00pm - STILL NO CALL BACK. We decided to go elsewhere for our services.... I highlight recommend you all to NOT inquire about jobs here if you need to get something fixed within a time frame. They will come when they want, IF they want, take your payment and NOT provide you with services.. Hope our payment was worth losing a great client. Tuesday March 22nd I receive an email from the owner - word for word. "We both know this is a fake review, I will give you that, you did a pretty good job, change it to positive-feedback and I will double what you gut payed from my competitor. You can contact me via email to discuss future business.... Talk about bribing ... What a way to run your business right? .... NOT! How about just sending us the money they kept. Hope this helps anyone thinking about doing business with this company. ... DONT! !!!!! read more

They installed my motor on my gate 4 years ago. They refused to acknowledge that the defective work which they did resulted in my gate not working in in less than 3 years. My love affair with Garage Doors For Less began 6 years ago when their estimate was the fairest of four I'd gotten! They came at the agreed to day and time, two superb technicians who effortlessly removed my original 600 lb. wooden door, and seemingly minutes later hung a gorgeous metal one in it's place. They tinkered and adjusted until it was silent and smooth. Before they left they pointed out a dent I had not noticed and told me they would return and replace it later in the week. Two days later they returned and changed the panel. Last week I arranged for a "Tune Up" service. Eddie arrived, smiling and professional and in a half hour had returned my garage door to it's silent best! This company is the real deal! AFFORDABLE, professional, expert and NICE! read more

Garage Doors & Gates 4 Less has excellent customer service. They sent the estimate out to me right away for weather seal moldings and rubber bottom seal with metal retainers for my three garage doors. The company followed up to make sure I received it. Kevin and Meher always called to confirm appointments and update me on arrival times of the technicians the day of service. Due to some onsite delays at other jobs, there were some appointment time changes, but they always worked with me. I understand that sometimes these appointments don't always go as planned so I tried to be flexible with them and it was well worth it. Eddie and River installed weather stripping and moldings around the garage doors. During this installation, Eddie brought to my attention that the hinge on the large door was broken and needed to be replaced. He suggested that I have the door serviced and there would be an additional charge for that. I agreed as he pointed out the problems with the door as I had never had it serviced in the past. Well, what a difference that made! It glided with ease, and the loud annoying squeaking was gone. The only thing I would suggest is that they sweep up the area when the job is completed. I would recommend this company to my friends and family. read more
