I brought my car in for some minor scratches that I was nonetheless concerned could rust. I also wanted to have the car rust-proofed. In passing, I told the manager, George, that he could go ahead and fix any minor scratches that he thought would be worthwhile, as long as the cost overruns were kept to a minimum. The guys kept my car longer than initially scheduled and the entire process cost a few extra hundred bucks, but when I got my car back it looked brand new. We are talking a 6 year Honda that has criss-crossed the entire continent. They made it look absolutely brand new. For an absolutely pittance, I got a brand new car. Bottom line here is that if you are looking for a fast and dirty service, go somewhere else. But if you want the job to be well done, thorough, and professional, than come to Park Lane Auto Body. They changed the tires, did an oil change (not with mine and the were nasty about it...but I dint even know if they used synthetic!)! They told me that I was being paranoid, and that my car was fine. Terrific! The next day, as we were driving home from the South Shore, our car died on the freeway and we spent two hours in traffic with a screaming infant waiting for a tow back to Alex. They told us, yes, there was a problem. Undeniable, obviously, at this point. So they deciphered that it was an issue with the battery. I said that was unlikely, as we had just had the battery replaced a few months earlier. But they insisted, so I listened to them and got the work done. Two days later, we broke down on the 20 and had to be towed back to Alex. By this point, I was apoplectic at the incompetence of this garage. When I spoke to the man behind the counter, I did my best to hold in my frustration but I did say, "I need my car to be reliable!" and he said, sarcastically, "You should get another car, then." So, that was that. The next time I needed repairs, I went elsewhere, and that car lasted another five years.
