Fantastic professional set up with lovely people running it. Nothing was too much trouble and they were more than happy to accommodate us. Our instructor was competent and very knowledgable. I started flying at Gamston Flying School last February. The staff are very friendly and all the instructors are excellent. Gamston Airport has a lot of the facilities of larger international airports which makes learning to fly much easier, the runways are longer and very well maintained which means mistakes are far less traumatic. In winter they even clear the runway meaning you can still fly and fewer lessons are cancelled. John, Tom and the team always make everyone feel welcome and I owe the speed I achieved my license to them - and they've introduced some cutting edge ground school facilities since then. If you are thinking of learning to fly, or getting frustrated at the smaller grass and tarmac strips - I can't recommend a visit enough! read more

I first started going to Gamston Flying School in August and was impressed with how welcoming and friendly the staff are. They are a credit to the flying school! The staff are a credit to the flying community and have worked hard to achieve what they have and have made it one of the most enjoyable places not only to learn to fly, but also for those who have already achieved their PPL. The staff arrange fly-aways on a regular basis which help make the joy of flying more appreciated and is a great way of meeting new people who also share the same interests and hobby as yourself. Cannot fault the attitude the staff have, they don't see it at a career, they also see it as a hobby and enjoy doing what they do! Greatly recommend anyone to come and learn to fly at this flying school, either if it's just for a trail lesson, or to achieve the PPL. read more

At arriving at the place the guys offered me a drink whilst I waited for my instructor. I was then shown around the hanger by one of the guys which I thought was excellent, a good chance to ask a few questions. Just as we finished up looking at the planes I was then offered to fly the larger of the planes and that my partner could come along too free of charge! (She was over the moon)! This was down to my wait as the other instructor gave another student a lesson for twice as long as they had! How good is that! ( I didn't even realise that I was waiting was the best bit!)... Probably don't need to say anything more than that as the flying was fantastic! Cheers Tom read more
