A group of about 10-15 people meet the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of every month in Leawood for an hour lunch meeting. Typically, there are a couple 5-7 minute speeches that will be given and evalutated and then an opportunity for short "Table Topics" so everyone can practice thinking and speaking on their feet. My boss recommended that I join a Toastmasters group after she noted that I used "like" in conversations more than a Valley girl. That's embarrassing. At each meeting, there is a Grammarian/Ah-So Counter who reports how many times each person used a filler word, incorrect grammar, etc. Then the "winner" gets to take home the Wizard of Ahs trophy to remind them to speak more thoughtfully. After proudly earning this title for many meetings, I can say that I have definitely improved my speaking skills. I've been to other Toastmaster clubs and felt intimidated; this is a very diverse and welcoming group. Feedback is positive and constructive. You will always laugh. It was a $10 stick which was aged in a bourbon barrel of a local company. It was unique tasting (it was a bit difficult to stay lit) but overall a nice smoke. They have free pool tables, a bunch of leather chairs and an outside area with a few benches facing together around two tables. We were asked to spend $25 to use the lounge. We were also told we could bring in alcohol or food. We walked 3 minutes down the road for some lovely tapas and ate outside. The neighborhood had some artsy people. My boyfriend wouldn't let me walk by myself to the restaurant and I was grateful for that. This neighborhood has graffiti but is in view of brand new, huge apartment buildings. There were people of every color in this venue and on the street and it was a fun experience.

We sat outside under cover. It was very pleasant as was the service. I understand they serve dinner here as well and I can tell you it's high on my list. There was a sad lump of sauerkraut dumped in small heap in a corner of my sandwich. Again, the corned beef was delicious, but the sandwich as a whole, was blah. They tasted like watered down juice. We also couldn't identify any specific flavor such as pear or cranberry. They were flat and unfortunately not tasty. We loved the ambiance.
