I heard Moroccan food is popular (and good) in Paris, so I found this spot for our last dinner in the city. I was able to make a reservation via Google for 8 PM on a Friday night. We arrived and there weren't too many people dining there, most likely because there was no AC on a hot August night. At first, we were just going to stick it out but after just a few minutes of sitting and looking at the menu, it was so stuffy and unbearable so we decided to just order some takeout to go. We ordered:
-Mixed Kemia - this was a mix of appetizers that had a bunch of different things. I can't remember everything but it had goat (?) cheese, spiced chickpeas, grilled peppers, zaalouk (eggplant and tomatoes), potatoes, topped with a bit of arugula. I really liked this. All the veggies helped balance out the meat from the other dishes we ordered.
-Couscous Merguez - such a huge portion! They gave us six sausages and this only cost 17 euros! For something like this in NYC for a similar price, you would probably only get two sausages. They were very flavorful. I loved the couscous as well. Even my husband, who doesn't like couscous, said he enjoyed the dish too. This was probably my favorite out of everything we ordered.
-Tagine kefta - this was so good! It reminded me of a shakshouka because it was topped with an egg.
The meal came with bread but I didn't love it. It was very thick and the crust was a little burnt. I'm sure that's how it's meant to be made but it wasn't really for me. I wish I liked the bread because I would have loved to dip it into the kefta. They also threw in a free soup, which was nice of them. It was made with sweet potatoes (?). I love soup and I would have loved it if there wasn't celery in it.
Overall, I would say this might be one of the best Moroccan meals I've ever had. I just wish I could have dined in person. They serve the dishes in actual tagines, so that would have tasted even better at the restaurant. If you're like me and can't bear no AC summer heat, I would recommend checking it out in the wintertime. read more
